That Cave Story + price. Twice the launch price of the Steam version that came out over 6 years ago with no new content or graphics. If you need it portable, at least the 3DS version has stereoscopic 3D at $10.

I mean I get that it's probably for price parity with the physical version, but still.
It does have slight graphical enhancements, but the big reason I grabbed the switch version was for widescreen support.

Just wanted to point out that Star Fox Zero is 9.99 used at Gamestop and Guard is $2.99.
You also still may be able to get a sealed copy as they converted new copies to used a few months ago and a lot of Gamestops had multiple copies of this game (so not just the display).

I was homeless from last year (2017) to January, and I didn’t play much of my ps4 since 2014 but especially the past year, so that might answer the question....since you were so curious

I own Slayaway Camp on PC but I'm tempted to get it on Switch because for some reason I am tempted to rebuy everything on Switch... Does anyone know if there is enough (any?) new content on the console version of the game to justify my Switch addiction?

It has all the additional content and dlc packs. It’s pretty awesome on Switch so I don’t feel too bad for buying it.

I see that it would cost $4 for me to "complete the bundle" on Steam and get everything, so $7.50 on Switch, where I might actually play it, is not a bad deal...

The Lol wasn't about him being homeless but rather the fact that he answered the question of "what rock have you been under where you haven't heard of Shovel Knight" with the most dramatic answer of all time saying he was homeless.
All good guys, I doubt anyone was malicious here....

Actually I was surprised I missed the shovel knight myself because all I did the past year was read and read about upcoming stuff ;every little bit of hope and ambition helps you persevere in tough times [rebuying a switch after I was forced to sell kept a realistic goal by years end, and my wife was nice enough to make it happen]

So blame her for me revisiting the forums so frequently ;)

WAIT

WHO GOT A Labo!.!?,!.!, post review and pics please

I can’t beleive I bought it when it came out and it’s already on sale less than 3 weeks later.
I know.... that sucks! I rarely have that happen to me as I usually buy games at 75% or more off... but with he switch's low rate of hard sales like that, it's def going to happen to me soon!!

Ended up getting binding of Isaac, tiny barbarians and cave story. Ittle dew is a fun Zelda clone if anyone's interested. There's some really challenging puzzles later in the game and in the secret dungeons.

Has anyone played and recommends Blossom Tales for the Switch?

Is it worth the $14.99 price tag, or should I ultimately wait for a sale?

It was on sale a couple weeks ago so if you can wait it will likely be on sale again, but it is definitely worth it. It's a fun Zelda clone. If you like a link to the past at all you'll find something to like in this game.

In an effort to finish my small Wii U library, I've been playing Zelda: Wind Waker. It constantly surprises me how uncomfortable I am with the Wii U gamepad as the primary way to play. I have to keep checking I'm pressing the right buttons, and I am constantly pressing the wrong buttons for actions. I don't know if it's because Zelda is complicated and uses every button and has a zillion items to equip, or if part of the fault is the wonky gamepad.

I've played the Wii U very little, to be fair.

personally I felt the GamePad was amazing to play with and never touched my Pro controller. While it was clearly pretty big, it felt good.

Maybe try the Pro Controller? I can't imagine its very expensive.

Yeah, I had the same problem and never did get used to it. I have really small hands, and the tablet being so big always caused me to hit the wrong buttons on a regular basis. This is the main reason I never fell in love with off TV mode, as I could never play the games properly with the tablet. In BotW, there are a few shrines that require motion controls(dumbest shit EVER), so I would have to use the tablet for those places, and it wasn't fun to say the least. And yes, I know you aren't required to play those shrines, but being a Zelda game, I went for completion, only to quit due to boredom(So I guess I should have skipped them).

The Pro Controller is a HUGE help, but of course that can't be used in off screen mode, so I ended up just playing on the TV more often than not, which really made the tablet a useless offering for me. This is also the main reason why I refused to buy a Wii U for anymore than $200, as the tablet was useless junk. I didn't think the tablet enhanced a single game(none that I played anyway), and was only good for maps or quick press icons.

I'm taking the same stance for the NS, as I have no need for removable controls, or on TV play. I just want a solid handheld, that is actually portable, and not an extra $100 for features I don't want or need.

personally I felt the GamePad was amazing to play with and never touched my Pro controller. While it was clearly pretty big, it felt good.

Maybe try the Pro Controller? I can't imagine its very expensive.
I do have a Pro Controller, and I tried it a while back. I think I ended up using the Gamepad still to access maps and switch around items in Windwaker, which was wonky.

I think I recall the controller being fabulous for Mario Kart, though.

Motion controls in BotW sounds awful. I plan to get that game when I get a Switch.

And yes, playing off screen from the Wii U just seems crappy. The fidelity of the Gamepad screen is just too low. My 3DS looks better than that.

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy the Gamepad.

While I agree that playing on a TV with a Pro Controller is by far the better way to play most Wii U games, I have to disagree about the tablet being useless junk.

I use it quite a bit to play offscreen. Playing platformers like Mario or Donkey Kong or even Mario Kart works really well. And it’s a nice option when someone else is using the TV.

It's all good, "one mans trash", you know the rest. I've seen many post here how much some liked the tablet, as well as others who didn't. To me it really was like one of those home built hack systems, where a guy takes a DVD screen, and adds some controls for a handheld N64 or PS1. As it just felt really bulky, and not well thought out, with terrible battery life.

Awhile back, when the Wii U was about half way thru t's cycle, there was a Wii U advert shown, that had what appeared to be a small sleek tablet like the NS. It was thought at the time, that may have been a smaller planned(lite, mini, etc), only to never have it shown or discussed again. Even if that wasn't a Wii U lite, I believe they did plan to reduce the size and the cost at some point, but by the time it was probably possible, the Wii U was already dead. And the "Wii" branding along with it, so instead of staying the course, we got the NS. Which to me personally, was a Wii U 2.0. When I saw the reveal, all I thought was isn't this the Wii U, just better made?

And yes, playing off screen from the Wii U just seems crappy. The fidelity of the Gamepad screen is just too low. My 3DS looks better than that.

It's funny how you mention the 3DS screen looking better, as I always thought it should have been the offered portable screen for the U, instead of a separate tablet. Yeah, I always thought the 3DS would have been the perfect companion to the Wii U, as it would have been great if it would have functioned as the Vita and PS4 do(remote play). But "N" is never very forward thinking, as the 3DS was probably at 30+ million plus when the Wii U hit. Instead of the high cost for the tablet, it could have been removed and allowed for better hardware, and along with the 3DS made for a killer combo.

Of course that wouldn't be perfect now, but it could have made a different outcome for the Wii U, but who knows? So I did see the tablet as junk, but that was mostly because it was pretty useless as a portable, and made regular TV play bulky, and heavy just for a dual screen, that didn't do much.

Except that would've held the Wii U back with a lack of dual analog sticks and four shoulder buttons along with a general build quality.

Of course that where the "forward thinking" would have been key, and why it wouldn't have been perfect as-is. But the Wii U had all those things, and sold way less than the 3DS did, so I wouldn't really say those things held the 3DS back, and helped the Wii U, would you?

I loved the Wii U gamepad, Sure it was a tad bulky, but I loved the "Off TV" mode, and as far as the screen some games looked great on it, I believe it was a 720 resolution, I think it looks better than the 3DS screen personally, especially for Mario Kart and Smash.

What does any of what I said have to do with sales numbers?

Anyone know if you can get the my Nintendo coins from a physical game without WiFi?

Edit: Nevermind, remembered I had a game I hadn't registered yet so disconnected WiFi and tried it and it does not let you.

You stated how a lack of dual analog and four shoulder buttons would have held the Wii U back. As I'm guessing holding it back means it wouldn't have sold as well as it could correct? Or did that statement mean something else?

My statement was in reference to the 3DS not having those features, and how it sold way more than the Wii U. So I'm just showing an example of how the 3DS lacked those features and is still selling very well. It also has a HUGE library of games, so what does holding back the Wii U mean, when it sold very poorly with those features?

No, it would've held it back from playing games like a normal console, which is why I mentioned the differences in the controls. You can't play dual-stick games without two analog sticks and the 3DS barely has one. You can't play shooters, racing games, or many other modern games without four shoulder buttons these days and only having the two crappy shoulder buttons on it is not acceptable. It would've hampered how playable the games would be if you replaced the Wii U GamePad with the 3DS.

Well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, as my 3DS was my most played systems last gen, and I've played every game style you mentioned with no problems. Most of the Wii U games where ports or variations of 3DS titles, so I personally didn't see much loss in controls. I haven't seen most modern games on a "N" system in decades until the NS(the Wii U damn sure didn't have many, and that''s why it failed), and most modern features have been lost or not used much, but that's my observation of course.

So given the choice of a decent functional handheld, or a big clunky controller that added major expense to the unit, where an included Pro controller would have cost less and functioned the same. This was my point, the Wii U could have been made with current tech, and a Pro controller included. Nothing would have been loss, except cost.

Then if someone wanted to play off TV, then you use the 3DS you already own(remote play), along with the the rest of the HUGE installed base. If you didn't want the feature, you still had a killer home console, that didn't suffer to add a tablet controller that didn't do much or add to the experience. I personally would have preferred a stronger system, without the tablet & with the Pro Controller, and I'm sure most would agree(maybe not the kool-aid crowd, but average consumers).

I've also played the 3DS a ton and it's not good for many full 3D games outside most of Nintendo's stuff. It's kind of a pain to hold at this point for touch-focused games and the build quality is bad, as I'll probably have to get my fourth 3DS of the generation with my New 3DS XL having failing shoulder buttons that makes a number of games hard to play at all.

A Wii U + Pro Controller bundle would've been the best option with the GamePad as #2 and requiring the 3DS to play the system as a replacement for the GamePad as the worst possible option for playing Wii U games.

I don't believe the notion that most Wii U games are 3DS ports or whatever unless you're being reductivist about Nintendo's games.

So much of the problem with the Wii U right here. The Pro controller was outstanding but then it just wasn't practically useable in so many games that tried to force the game pad on you. Completely derailed me on progress in Tokyo Mirage when I would keep forgetting to plug the thing in after a session and not be able to play the next time I wanted to and wasn't even for anything essential that couldn't have been done on screen.

It is, it’s 1080p(& also maybe 60fps)
Well the dock allows the console to run up to 1080p and to reprioritize where it's allocating its power.

Definitely 480p. Switch has the 720p screen.

I don't recall seeing this posted here before, but there are 3 free The Alliance Alive themes available on the 3DS.

Yeah I actually meant to post this, but forgot. Think I saw them on Thursday night maybe? Atlus is doing a really good job of supplying free themes for their last few 3DS games. I think that makes it 5 or 6 total now in the last few months.

I've been surprised by the number of free themes. I've bought 1 total since the 3DS launched, a Pikachu theme. I'm sure there are plenty of folks that never bought any. With all the free themes on the eShop and My Nintendo, you don't have time to get bored with your theme.

Thx Eldritch, GPU or CPU power reallocation? If ya have heard?

I bought Zelda at launch, didn’t the points get auto added then, cuz I don’t have 600 for it? If anyone knows it’s not a huge deal.

PS 1080 p aside it isn’t limited whatsoever as a stand alone console, toe 2toe w/ ps4, except I like it WAY MORE for content, it’s NINtendo bros!! Everything was an afterthought, as were seeing now that switch ended [the next gen console wars which ps3/4 already monopolized and more important] development stagnation that made constant FPS titles over in my mind...I couldn’t wait to get my switch after a year without it but. That’s my experience .. IMHO lol

If you bought Zelda at launch on eShop, you got whatever they were originally giving out as gold points. I think for a $59.99 game it was 60 gold coins. They didn't change to the current value until last month, which is 5%, so you'd only get 300 gold coins for a full $60 retail game purchase on the eShop, not 600.

If you bought Zelda as a physical cart at launch, then it's not automatic at all. You would have had to redeem the coins from the library menu on your Switch, which I think would have been maybe 15 gold coins at the time.

Keep in mind that for physical Switch cards, the internal redemption code in the card will only be valid for a year after the game release. So that means now for Zelda: BotW, you cannot redeem the code even if it's unused. Oh yeah, coin redemption is 1% of the game's value, so it's 60 coins now for a 59.99 game.

On other platforms, if you wait a long time you could actually get a good discount (%). I’m getting the impression that on Nintendo platforms, I should just be happy if we get 25% off. Is that correct? If so it would help me re calibrate my mindset for switch deals.
