I think Rocket League probably makes most of its money from microtransactions at this point. It wouldn't entirely surprise me if they eventually go full F2P.
I think it will also become F2P. It is still selling pretty well on the Switch so they are probably just waiting for those sales to take a dip first.

I’m going to forget to ask, as i already did at launch, but is attack on titan 2 the switch version of attack on titan for ps4? Or is it a sequel+conversion/port?

What is your review of attack on titan? If you care to share....
Thanks

This was kind of cool, now if they only took that much care with our packages right? LOL

It doesn't need to go free-to-play at all because it's still making a ton of money at full price and is doing better now than at launch.

Maybe a sequel but that's basically why it's on sale pretty cheaply at least once a month on every platform. It's all about getting it into as many hands as possible.

My significant other isn’t massively into games but she is really enjoying Zelda BOTW with the guide out. I’m looking for a game to have on tap when she finishes Zelda. She also liked child of light (Xbox).

Any simple rpg’s that might be a good introduction? I am Setsuna looks like an idea.

I also already have ocean horn in case she wants a Zelda like.

Not Setsuna, it's too dependent on nostalgia for that kind of thing. I know it's not Switch but if you have access to Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 maybe if you want something actual JRPG. There's a lot going on there outside of the standard JRPG stuff (but not in an overwhelming way) and a lot of people find them a good gateway because they're so full of personality. Maybe the Kingdom Hears PS4 ports if they're into Disney (though the plots are crazy convoluted)? Probably just depends on their willingness to try something else and what it was that's hooked them on BotW. If it's just the huge world and freedom maybe something like Skyrim though it's more of a blank slate compared to Zelda.

Or just throw Stardew Valley at them, that seems to hook everyone.

Keep her on botw and expansion pack until July and then get her Octopath Traveler.

I’m playing Setsuna now. It’s underwhelmingly easy, I’m pretty sure my 6 year old would be able to play it.

That being said, I’m liking it. It has an unusually calming effect. Maybe it’s the setting and the art style.
It also has a level of depth if you wanted to get into really tweaking the setups.

My gf HATES videogames and everything related to them but she somehow liked Stardew Valley, maybe you could try that.

Thanks for the responses. I forgot to mention Stardew. Def on my list too. I’ll show her octopus then traveler. As for Setsuna, I like the idea its simple and calm. As for persona 5, I would’ve thought it would be way too much at once

How about LA Noire? It has a great story, extremely easy mechanics, and a modest amount of exploration.

I don't understand comments like this. When I was in the six-to-eight years old range, I was playing and regularly beating games I find obnoxiously difficult if I go back to today. I don't think difficulty has anything to do with what games a child can handle, just gameplay style, content, and presentation.

That said, when they do run into a game that's too difficult for them, children have a harder time controlling the rage in their ragequits. I'M LOOKING AT YOU, HOTEL MARIO.

How about LA Noire? It has a great story, extremely easy mechanics, and a modest amount of exploration.
I truly couldn’t appreciate it on launch, and I traded it in the same or next day, because of the gameplay .... now to be fair, at this time, I was in mid 20s and adding extra [jet] fuel to my diet to go #1 in MW3 CoD Elite Clan wars so it was a different mind state towards gaming

With that said, I have to say I only heard good things to the point that I reconsidered it for the switch myself, now that I do like and appreciate slower paced games

And the story IS great, that is without contest, so I say give it a shot

(Reason I am not buyin now is attack on titan is $35)

Going to turn their SO off games forever when they can't understand why they keep screaming at people.

A guide for BOTW? Not buying her own games? Screaming at people as a hobby? Sounds like you need to break her in first. Then call her over for Mario Odyssey and trade her at the stable if she doesn't like it.

I wonder about that too sometimes. Though I often forget how much more frequently I turned to strategy guides well before ever making an attempt at figuring something out for myself.

I still remember begging my parents to let me make a long distance call to the Nintendo helpline, and getting nothing but busy signals. They say I finally got through I felt like I hit the lottery. And I think I only had nonsense questions about Zelda and Battle of Olympus.

I never stuck with a Zelda game and beat one until botw. My 7 year old has almost all the divine beasts and will match my record soon. Hell she might have beat me if she didn’t spend so much time at the start of the game just taming horses and buying clothes.

Maybe I had a poor choice of words. What I meant was my 6 year old could understand Setsuna.

Many games are easy enough for a young child to play, but many RPG have a depth that is too complex for their young minds to fully grasp. I’m sure my son could brute force his way through Xenoblade, but he couldn’t possibly fully grasp the story. There’s just too much complexity there.

I tried to get my dog to play Mario kart and breath of the wild. Maybe if I didn't pick his favorite character, he would be more interested. He just stood there waiting for me to put his collar back so we could go for a run.
I will try Mario + rabbids next time and see if he will play LOL.

(I actually didn't do this, I just wanted to add something funny to give people a good laugh for the day )

You do realize, of course, that you are now required to actually do so and upload video of it.

I say you have a dumb dog..
Jut look at my profile pic, my dog games. But then again terrier breeds do tend to be smarter.

Thoughts on Lego world's for that price?
I heard it was glitchy

I bought it as I knew they had patched it up to correct those. It does appear to be the case as I’ve had no issues and am actually surprised at how well it runs, even in portable mode.
So is there a story mode or is it like the old minecraft where they just drop you off and you start building random stuff lol

Oh and thanks for the heads up

- gimme that Atlus sale after Dark Souls comes out. k thx

- Runner3 is $30? HOLY WHAT? doesnt seem to do a whole lot more than the previous entries and those launched at like $10 or $15.

- And that price on the Shantae Half Genie Hero...these indie games are getting a bit bold with their pricing as of late (cue $25 owlboy)

Owlboy is $25 on steam rn but I do agree that the eshop prices suck considering how long some of those titles have been out, but I guess that's just how Nintendo's pricing works so don't expect any drastic changes anytime soon.

You get missions that add to your object lists and build options but you can at anytime just go into an empty world and use tools to build what you want. They are generally pretty basic but intentionally vague to be sort of like a puzzle. I'm not a Minecraft fan so despite being a Lego fan this didn't interest me but my kids also got bored though my younger goes back from time to time. There are also a decent number of themed DLC addons with mostly just objects and character skins that seem overpriced to me.

With recent examples such as Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze being removed from the Wii U eShop, and stuff like Tetris removed from the 3DS eShop, you may want to consider purchasing some Wii U Virtual Console for harder-to-get-type-games.

It feels like stuff like the TurboGrafx-16 / PC Engine games and NES/SNES games from 3rd Party publishers might let their licenses expire and the games will be removed eventually.

I plan on buying every TurboGrafx-16 game on Wii U, but I need to wait for GameStop to get some better trade values! :)

Also, if DK:TF was removed, I think Captain Toad Wii U could be next, so if you want a digital copy, you may want to get that before July 13th 2018.

Dk was a temporary issue and was brought back later that day.

But the question is, aside from the increased MSRP (which is only a temporary inconvenience as price cuts and sales will eventually happen) why would anyone want to buy the WiiU version of a game instead of the Switch version? With the Switch, at the very least you now have a version of that game you can take on the go, and at times the Switch version is even more complete or has additional features, like Mario Kart 8.

I'm just wondering if Nintendo plans to eventually port every great Wii U title over, or will there still be a reason to keep my Wii U plugged in. At the moment it's still the only way to play a couple remastered Zelda titles, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Yoshi's Woolly World (the 3DS version isn't quite on the same level visually), Super Mario 3D World, etc.

Exactly. Not really a story exactly more like a you need to get this many good bricks to move to the next world kind of deal.

I would love to see a switch port of Mario maker and bring the Zelda titles that were released for wiiu.
I'm hoping with the release of metroid prime 4 that the others will be available for the switch as well. Nintendo did release a digital version of the prime trilogy somewhere between 9.99-19.99?

With the NS doing so well currently, and "N" being beyond slow in regards to game development, I expect more ports to happen for sure. How many more, and how often, who can say? They will always have a need to fill space between new releases, so it's a given these titles will continue to happen. The NS has beat the U's lifetime sales in a years time, that's nuts, especially considering how there still isn't much original software, but I guess being totally portable, as helped greatly.

I agree that even though the ports have full prices now, that won't last, and in enough time, these games will be $20 again. As for keeping the U, that depends on how many titles a person can't do with out. I tricked out my Wii U when I got it(as support was long dead at that time), so it's an all in one machine for me at this point. So I'll probably be keeping mine for awhile, but I may get rid of it if and when all it has to offer is NS bound, but I doubt it will get all past titles(but most for sure).

The Wii U is where all my Wii/Wii U Virtual Console and Wiiware is, so I'll be keeping mine plugged up for a very long time! We'll see at E3, but it seems like Switch Virtual Console won't match up with what the Wii/WiiU offered, but that's fine since the Wii U is still available. Plus, I never use my Switch in TV mode, so no space on the HDMI is lost.

I hope we get more port announcements at E3! Mario Maker, 3D World, and Wooly World are at the top of my list!

As a side note, it seems the main reason why Wii U sales were slow is because games were slow to come out. And in 2013, Nintendo explained why games came out slowly during the 73rd Shareholder Meeting Q&A (read it here. It's really good! https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/stock/meeting/130627qa/index.html )

Miyamoto: "When it comes to the scale of software development, Wii U with HD graphics requires about twice the human resources than before. Please allow me to explain that we may have underestimated the scale of this change and as a result, the overall software development took more time than originally anticipated just as we tried to polish the software at the completion phase of development. However, we are almost out of this phase..."

With all the Switch ports, Nintendo can recoup costs and time put into the game while making new games.
