There isn't any hype for the system. No one really talks about "Let's get a switch to play... whatever!" besides gamers. It's all 'hype' because no one can find a console, which is 100% Nintendo just making up a shortage to make the system seem more talked about than it really is.

I don't get it either. 4 big exclusives. Why would anyone want a system with 4 big exclusives in one year.

Nevermind that it's a portable and a console all in one. If anyone figures it out let me know too.

Actually 5 exclusives right? Mario Rabid Kingdom. This is the first time I have actually been excited about a consoles 1st year that I can remember.

My big draw is for my kids. On Xbox and PS4 there arent many games I can hand over to my 4 year olds without worrying. They have played the Wii U more than I have played my PS4 and One combined this year

Me and my son are in a similar situation, as there are a few PS/Xbox games he would like to play, but most good ones are teen rated or higher on those systems, so "N" is the go to for most of his gaming currently. He is at the transition stage though, as I do allow him certain teen titles, but those are till mostly games that can be played on his Wii U, or 3DS.

As for play time, he has no responsibilities at all, outside of a few chores and schoolwork, so he plays way more than me as well. It's a great time to be young for sure. LOL

I agree. Especially since these bundles ship on July 21st (same day as Splatoon 2), Nintendo is probably pushing to get stock into stores in time for release. So if you don't want to buy a bundle, check gamestop stores in the coming weeks.

Gamestops been making you purchase bundles in-store as well.

 
Sadly, since GS has been doing the bundles, many other places started to as well. I do think they will all stop at some point, but it still depends on demand being greater, then the restocking at any given time.

I personally never buy bundles, but if I really needed to get an NS, those options aren't to bad. I'm surprised they have lasted this long, but the NS is still moving at a decent pace, so until that slows, and retailers see units sitting around, the bundles will be here for awhile more.

I ended up buying one thanks to the 70% trade bonus, but it didn't sound like they had sold many at the store. I got the $500 one but I wish there was some kind of discount, at least make the Zelda DLC free or something. I think Splatoon bundles will probably sell better than the two Arms only bundles they're pushing currently. I was kind of hoping it'd ship before the 21st, but whatever. As long as they didn't over sell and I get mine I'll be happy.

Really, I'd expect them to keep doing these bundles through the year. I could see a break for a bit after Splatoon, as Xenoblade is too niche to force bundles on most people. Pokken could go either way, but they'll definitely be doing them for Mario Odyssey, maybe making it more expensive with Mario and Rabbids.

Best bet will likely be the other retailers that don't force bundles in store, like TRU. I haven't heard anything yet but I'd be shocked if there isn't at least 5-10 consoles per store for Splatoon's launch. Just get there early.

The yellow joy cons have been going in and out of stock at best buy the last few days if anyone is interested. I managed to get an order in earlier today as well as a splatoon pro controller yesterday.

I think the bundles are selling well otherwise why would they keep selling them?

I bought a bundle due to the money made during the flip bonanza. Otherwise I would have waited. What made the decision to buy easier is that I was going to buy everything in the bundle anyway. Yeah, everything was retail (could have gotten Zelda and the pro controller cheaper elsewhere) but I don't have to hunt for stock anymore.

More than likely you will get your bundle before or pretty soon after the 21st. I ordered my Zelda bundle on the 3rd and it was not supposed to ship until the 7th. It actually delivered on the 7th. Even when I got the shipping notification I thought it would be a week before it would deliver because I chose value shipping but I got it two days after it shipped. BTW, it shipped from KY and I live in FL.

Depends what you want to play. If you're happy with the available library on Wii U then wait. There are a lot of great games out there, just avoid stuff that has a better version on Switch, like Pokken. I would have waited as I have barely played about half of my Wii U library, but the influx of GS credit and a bundle including 3 games I intended to purchased pushed me to jump on it.

If you're interested in the current Switch library and games coming soon like Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, look into upgrading now.

If you're interested in confirmed but probably far off games like Metroid Prime 4 and whatever Pokemon will be, you're probably better off waiting. At the very least you could see a good deal with an official bundle packing in something. The fact the BotW came out on Wii U meant that the biggest killer app on Switch wasn't that big of a deal to those of us that did have a Wii U, meaning that either Mario or Xenoblade are the next really big draws.

Yeah, but istocknow has been way off on Best Buy. I have gone to the BB page about 10 times it said they were in stock but they were not, even tried different browsers and private mode.

I wouldn't trust that site to tell you anything more than if stock is consistently being added so you can decide if randomly refreshing the product page is a waste of time or not. I got lucky cause they were only in stock for a few minutes and I even wasted time trying to figure out why I wasn't getting free 2 day shipping. I was a little more persistent with the refresh since I walked away from gray joycons twice the last few days cause I know my kids would fight over who got the neons the system came with and who got stuck with the gray ones. Eh, my luck they'll still fight over them.

Seems iffy on online sites always for me, but it's been really consistent for me on Target and GS in store switches. Managed to grab 7 Neons in about 2 weeks so far.

(Company is doing giveaways with them, not scalping.)

This istocknow site is worthless.  It says a Target store has a neon console in stock from 4+ weeks ago, but they don't.  It also says a Walmart store got one 10 hours ago, but I just called them and they also don't have any.

Yeah istocknow also says that there's not a single gamestop in the US with a switch. Not sure how accurate they are...

For what it's worth, I would *much* rather the site not show some places that do have it, as opposed to showing lots of places that don't have it and saying that they do.
 
Any idea how often the Joy cons come in stock? I was able to get a Switch at a nearby Target but would like to get an extra pair of Joy cons....

TRU here. I think I've only gotten Joy-Cons in shipments alongside consoles, maybe once alone. I have gotten Pro Controllers a few more times though. We had 3 pairs of Joy-Cons stolen pretty close to launch, they didn't get removed from our system until recently though, so that may have slowed down our shipments since they thought we still had some.

If you can, create an account on stockinformer.com and turn on audible alerts. The page refreshes automatically (quicker if you create an account) and a buzzer goes off when stock changes on any site. That's how I got one on Amazon.

You have to be quick, too. The consoles sell out within minutes.

I bought a Switch at launch and sold it after I beat Zelda since there's nothing else on it worth playing. But Mario looks awesome and I want to be able to play it this year, so when I saw the "In Stock" notification at nowinstock today I went for it. I probably won't even take it out of the box until Mario comes out, but at least I'll be able to play it.

And then probably sell it again.

 
I'll recommend Cars 3 again if people like kart racer type games. The battle mode and horde modes(for lack of a better term, you will only get killed by other players, to the point of hilarity) are very entertaining local multiplayer modes. We have played it quite a bit more than I expected.

The stunt modes offer a pretty good 3d racer platforming style challenge.

It's not the prettiest game but it runs pretty well.
