Nintendo Switch Preorder Thread 2.0

Still not sure why this doesn't have a browser, but it's good to hear that it'll have a "web applet" in order to connect to public hotspots that require authentication.
You've got the right idea. When it comes to "N", be thankful for what a system has, rather than what it doesn't, as you'll sooner find the meaning to life, than getting those questions answered. LOL

I was at Gamestop today and overheard a GS cashier told a customer that they would have around approximately 5 NS units for walk-in sales.  Anyone that didn't get a pre-order and want one, you should go in early or lineup the morning of.

This was just at one store though but i'm thinking GS will likely do this at all stores nationwide.

Is there any GS employee here that can verify or provide your stock numbers allocated for walk-in sales.

who uses a browser on a game console anyway?
Mostly adolescent boys in need of... a certain type of content.

I was at a gamestop store last night close to closing and was told if i didnt have a pre order the store would be getting a very small number of additional units for non pre orders.

Everyone is going to need a "c" type cable and a charger here r links to some on SD,

https://slickdeals.net/f/9809847-tronsmart-2-pack-6-usb-c-to-usb-c-cable-7-99-free-shipping-w-prime

I believe it's "c" and quick chargers that the switch uses.

I've have both brands, the cable are usb3. They're a bit stiff, but other than that they fit good.

The charger is not exactly this model, but made by them and I use it every day with no problem and s quick charge on my iPhone and .
It's not looking like that one is quick charge 3.0 which if im not mistaken is what the switch is using. I believe a earlier link confirmed that anything around 2.4A wasn't enough to keep charging and playing as it charged around 1 percent every 6 minutes where as the included adapter charged at 1 percent every minute. You likely want something with quick charge 3.0 that can output around 3A and likely 5-6.5V or so from the looks of things.

Ha ha, thanks, but I should make clear that I'm not even picking up Horizon at release date just so I can dedicate time to Zelda. I don't want to have to rush through either of those games. And I'll likely play NieR and Mass Effect: Andromeda before Horizon, as I'll probably need those as a palette cleanser since both Horizon and BotW are so similar and are both huge open worlds.
Im the worst at buying games and having them sit for ages. I basically buy almost every big game at launch or close to it and then end up playing the same things I always do with the excuse that I dont have time to play these other games because I need a wuick play session thus my back log is just redic. Good on you if you're making your way through all these man.

I hope we get a new traditional Metroid someday but.... they've never sold on the same level as Mario or Zelda. These are apparently the lifetime worldwide sales for the series in millions of units sold (probably take these with a grain of salt, especially VGChartz, but still):

That is exactly the issue with Metroid. The people wanting one are in such minority when it comes to their other franchises. If they knew it'd sell even 5 Million units they'd likely be on board getting one out the door

just got an email from vintage stock, i guess they are not taking preorders and will have consoles available at 10am, with the caveat that you have to purchase 2 games to get the console and they are first come first serve.

Shopping discussions? This is clearly a thread all about deal-seaking. We're complaining about Switch functions in hopes of getting Nintendo to lower the price. It's a meta-deal thread.

I liked this one the best so far:

...but it is rather large on second thought lol
Looks like the standard size for the Switch.

Seen this on /r/NintendoSwitch eariler today.

I love this case but it does cost an arm and a leg.

With whatever case you might use you aren't going to get away not using a backpack for it.

Damn, I'd buy the hell out of this if it weren't for the leather. He sold me with how he said "cradle your Switch".
Why not leather? Should hold up to everyday stress better than most materials. Except, y'know, moisture. But I'd keep my Switch away from that anyway lol

I'll likely skip it as I'll have to have a LoZ case of some sort haha

Oh, I just don't use leather. Not for any functional reason, there's just plenty of manmade materials out there.

What I really want is a waterproof Switch case. That's one I'll drop some money on. My everyday bag is "water resistant", but some things have been known to get wet during really heavy rainfall. That's the biggest thing I've been thinking about when considering this as a portable device. Not tryna give it the phone-in-a-ziplock-bag treatment.

So 2.4A is confirmed to not charge while you play? That seems really odd, since the Nyko Switch charger, on it's Amazon page, say's "2.4 Amps of power lets you charge while you play". While it doesn't say it's officially licensed by Nintendo, and Nyko hasn't been known for their quality 3rd-party products, it seems odd that they'd make a Switch accessory that won't work.

I'm not even a fan of the 2D games(I want a new Prime game) but I still think it's hilarious if they're completely ignoring the fanbase. I think some representative said they made Federation Force because of the demand for another Metroid game. They simply don't understand much outside of the corporate cultural. There is seemingly a class system and the guys up top can't be bothered by the little people, because the devs say stuff like they KNOW there is demand, but none of their bosses care
From what I've heard, that is absolutely the case. I also think they have a feeling that if they give fans what they want, then the FANS will be in control and think they should get everything they demand. Which is, I'm pretty sure, the same logic WWE operates on.

Yeah, but I'd at least HOPE they recognize the overwhelming negative reaction that got. If nothing else, I'm sure the sales showed it. Same with Other M.

But then after Federation Force they did this whole rolling out the red carpet for Axiom Verge (they really went all out), which seems to have done well enough to warrant a physical release on Wii U. I gotta imagine there's at least someone in their offices who realizes that's just money waiting to be made there.
To be honest, after the reveal of Federation Force they should have just canned that fucker and started from scratch. It sold like shit, got terrible reviews, and everyone (except Nintendo, apparently) could see that coming. They would have been much better off if they just cut their losses and didn't spend the money on continued development and distribution for that turd. The fact that they didn't, and instead decided to just press on with an obvious failure, says a lot about their attitude towards Metroid fans to me.

All of my BB orders are now preparing except Zelda SE. Anyone else's SE preparing?

I 100% agree that should have been scrapped, but that would have taken "N" admitting they did something wrong, or made a bad game design choice, and they NEVER do that.

I personally found SFZero to be another waste of time and resources, that they continue to stand behind, and I'm sure that was our last chance to get a great SF title, and because they made a crap game, that sold poorly, the fans get the blame.

I would rather these franchises just stop, instead of turning out garbage for a fast buck, or to tell fans they made them a new game, and to enjoy it. I'd rather just stick to indie guys who make something like Axiom Verge that actually "get" what make a game like Metroid cool to begin with. While on the subject, has anyone seen this Ghouls & Ghost style game coming to the Wii U & NS? Capcom is another company that no longer gets it!

Star Fox Zero wasn't great, but it was a decent game. Most of the hate I see it get are from bandwagoners that never played it.
I'm a long time fan of the first 2 games, and I was finally able to play ZERO during the holidays when I bought it for my son. It was no where near as bad as I thought it would be, and I played up to the first hover mission, and haven't gone back.

It was needlessly complicated by those controls, and while I might have come to love them(which I doubt, as I've never come to love any motion controls), it just seemed like a show piece for the tablet, instead of being the best SF game it could have been.

Has any game ever been cancelled due to E3 reception?
I've personally played tons of games at CES & E3 that never saw the light of day, and most of them sucked at the time. The purpose of trade shows used to be for sale orders, so companies like TRU, Walmart, BB could gauge demand and place orders for inventory. The Winter CES in January was normally for holiday orders of that year.

I'm not sure if E3 is still used for that purpose or not, as the industry has changed 10 fold since my early CES days, as it seems like more fanboys and fake press(guys with youtube channels, and fan sites). But I would say 100% back then, they used interest to gauge a title, as business was created because of it. If a game didn't get a lot of orders, it was probably scrapped or reworked.

I saw a lot of reworked titles over the years as well, after a bad showing at a trade show. Any company who has any idea what they are doing, should for sure use that feedback to tweak and make improvements. "N" is never wrong, so them having a bad showing, is the public not understanding their vision.

Nice to wake up and see all my Switch pre-orders preparing to ship at Best Buy.  I live an hour from their warehouse so it probably won't go out until Thursday though.
