Official 2012 Yard Sale Thread
Crass, I know. But . . . how much did you pay and what would you value them at?

I would buy those SW figures in a heartbeat at a low price (even though I don't know squat about value). But when I see anything like them at a sale, the prices are in line with ebay.

I did the same thing at a big DVD buy a month ago . . . these were these great Criterion blu-rays and really neat stuff but it was sold by a few women that I don't think would watch any of them . . . many were sealed. I bought $500 worth of DVDs for $40. Anyway, I didn't think to ask about where the DVDs came from until much later :whistle2:(
I paaid $40 for everything and i would estimate value at 1200-1500 total, i sold 4 of the figures for 300 but that included the luke bespin which was the best one

HAHA I wouldve been like "B1tch GTFO, I actually asked if they had games and they brought them out for me to look at! You wouldnt have even asked and just moved on to the next sale!!"

Picked these up for $5. I told you dad I would get them all someday!! Despite the shape of the boxes the Pokeballs are still sealed in plastic inside.

Sweet tissue boxes!
Hey. What're you doing with my computer. I think that literally is the specs on this PC I'm on now, except that maybe the HDD is 20gb's larger.:whistle2:#

And before anyone says 'zomg it's an antique', all I use it for is surfing the internet and occasionally watching a random YouTube or Crackle video. Otherwise it collects dust.:booty:
If it's any consolation, I just acquired a PC that's much older than yours. I don't know the exact specs yet, but the HDD is less than 1GB and it has a floppy drive. I'm totally stoked.
I don't think anyone has any respect for one another anymore.
This is mostly true. But I feel it's worth noting that many people also don't deserve respect.

Are these like little figures w/ pokeballs? cool either way!
Are these like little figures w/ pokeballs? cool either way!
They're "gold plated" Pokemon "cards". They're like the size of a domino piece. Sold a set of them for $40 about a year ago.

I feel like, For $5, I got a great deal. I was saving up for a computer anyway, but now I have one while I keep saving up for a newer one. Finally have my own computer that I can download stuff onto without my dad getting mad. Like half life. I found half life 1 at a sale last year and have been saving it, and now I'm playing it finally.

Ah those are worth that much? Before I got into reselling I gave those away to my uncle along with some other pokemon swag from burger king etc.

Edit: While im here. Anyone else have trouble selling pink nintendo DS? Ive sold white, red/black, black etc easily on craigslist within a few days of posting for $80 with a few decent games. Have had a pink one there for going on two weeks, even reduced price down to $60 and including some nintendo brand earbuds and mario kart. Still no interest. Bought it for $45 awhile back with some other games.

Stopped at a Community Yard Sale in the park on Saturday. Only video games were a bunch of ps2 sports games. Did pick up a plush Elmo chair for the kiddos for $3 though.
No sales lately, but I did have a dream where a guy sold me an SNES mini and 18 games that were all Secret of Mana / FF3 / and Chrono Trigger caliber for $55.
I have dreams like this all the time :)

There really wasn't much this week but here goes. There were also a few games, like Burnout Paradise (360) that I paid $1 and Wind Waker (fair disc and no manual) that I plucked from a bunch of so-so games for $5.

Under the $25 tag it says $45 firm. I actually paid $15 for the system and $5 for the GTA Xbox (complete and minty inside). The woman wasn't going to go under $20 but the cords were so tangled that she relented.

I don't usually buy Gennys but:

Lots of games (all crappy) and then I saw it was a Genesis 3

And, she accepted my offer of $10

No power adapter

paid $5

The bottom two are sealed, and I paid $3 for the pair

The top two are complete and were $3 each. Goodwill . . . I didn't see anything on my walkthru/bathroom break. But this guy was actually holding these and he put them on the shelf . . . wtf.

Not gaming but noteworthy:

Paid $5 for the Fuze and $12 for ipod . . . both 4GB. Oddly enough, the Fuze is more valuable . . . esp. to me. I use one daily. The Fuze is the best MP3 player for audiobooks and this particular model is prized. I bought a bunch (10ish) on clearance last year and flipped all but one--to keep as a spare for myself. Now, I can flip that last one and keep this one--after I delete the Bieber on it :)

I don't know why but I paid $2 for this:

no thermos . . . and I really don't know what I'll do with it but I couldn'r resist.

^ I didn't know the fuzes went for so much. I still have my e260 which I use often, it's great. Only problem was when I upgraded the firmware, it felt more like a downgrade.

Picked up the Indiana Jones Trilogy on VHS for 75 cents. I haven't seen any of them outside of a few minutes ages ago, so I figured what the hell.

Oh, and found a 4DTV dish tuner in a box of free stuff. I usually inspect tuner boxes if they're cheap to see if they have HDs in them (my friend got one with a 20 gig in a while back). Turns out the thing was goign for $70-ish on ebay, so I picked it up. My dad's going to see if it can work with the dish he has to pick up free satellite feeds. If not, nice profit.
Hey. Crystal's Pony Tale is a great game.
Haha, I bought Lion King this weekend for my gf. Trying to find her Aladdin for the same price will prove difficult since around here, even at the flea market, everything is ebay prices.

Those were some slick looking games.

Weren't the SNES versions kinda crappy in comparison?

I picked up one of those for $2 earlier this year also. Haven't seen prices lately but last I saw those were pulling in a nice chunk of change. If I get them for cheap enough I always pick up vintage lunch boxes, they're becoming quite collectable. Especially since kids don't really use lunch boxes anymore.
I've never played the Genesis versions, but I thought they were pretty awesome on SNES.
I believe that if you didn't have the other (Like when I was a kid, I just had Genesis), you wouldn't realize the difference, but from what I understand, the Genesis version(as opposed to most other games where it was the opposite) were superior.

I loved Aladdin and honestly, I'd play it again if I got it for her. Lion King I remember pissing me off to no end, but I just want her to enjoy my main hobby haha.

Checking youtube, the Aladdin for SNES doesn't even look like the same game (No sword, less violence???). I'm not sure if Nintendo had any ports that could match Aladdin or Jurassic Park on the genesis.

I was actually thinking that the Sega versions has really vivid colors and super smooth animations, looked just like the cartoon.

The SNES versions were close but not as smooth.

Shit you get a sword. I remember having to jump on heads on the SNES. I've picked up a copy of the genesis version. Ganna have to try it out. I remember reading over on DP a while back about how much better the genesis version was.

Yeah Genesis version was way more fun. It's crazy to think that back then, games of the same name on Genesis and SNES were so different for some games. Now it's always the same.

Go an Atari 2600 with 20 games and a few paddles for $15.00 today. More than I'd have liked but not bad, games are all commons, but its cool.

Eventful day, almost got into a fight, lol.

Saw a TON of games today. Mostly PS2/Xbox and every one of those Xbox games was a sports title. Saw a pair of Xboxs... one for 50 and one for 60... saw a PS2 for 50... had a guy tell me he had an N64, I wait 15 minutes for him to search inside and he comes out and says, oh, its a Playstation. With two racing games... meh. One guy had a bunch of GBA and PS2 games but the PS2 games were 5.00 each and all junk, the GBA were only 2.00 but were all kids so pass. Passed on a Mario Sunshine for 5.00 because no manual and the game was so scratched I figured it probably wouldn't work. Passed on a classic controller for Wii for 5.00 when he wouldn't come down at all, kind of regret that one.

Still, the day was eventful. I bought things at two sales. At one I got a House of the Dead 2 for Dreamcast for 1.00. Asked her for games and she pulled it out of a box, said she sold the Dreamcast years ago but just found this recently with some CDs.

My best score of the day was at a sale where I initially thought I would find nothing. I saw a couple of Gamecube controllers for 2.00 each and grabbed the official one which is in AWESOME shape. Saw a ton of PS2/Xbox games but all 5.00 each and only decent one was Kingdom Hearts. Suddenly I see a Mario 2 for NES in a box next to them. I picked it up and was about to look through the box when some 50 year old guy literally shoves me out of the way and starts digging through the box. Pulls out an NES and a ton of games. I was about to start fighting him but didn't want to get thrown out of the sale as I was holding Mario 2 and the controller. She wanted 50 for the NES with the games so he passed and I was able to cherry pick the best games. Paid $10.00 for all of it:

Gamecube controller
Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis)-The only Sega games she had sadly
Final Fantasy (NES)-With the original manual and map. These are in lousy shape but still
Super Mario Bros 2
Super C

Not a bad day. Also had a solid score at a thrift I've never been to before.

Only video games stuff I bought today was a N64 and 4 games for $6.

BUT I found one my best purchases so far this summer.

ada995.jpg

I got this for $10. An Dell/Altec Lansing ADA995 speaker set. THX certified! Out of the 8 speakers sets I have bought this summer, this set wins. Sound is so good!

Was he driving a white truck? He may be my enemy!

Fuzes are the best! I paid $60 for mine last year, and even that was pretty cheap (especially for a new one.)
Was he driving a white truck? He may be my enemy!
Possibly, I think he may have been but not sure. It was here in Schaumburg. I haven't been going much outside of Schaumburg/Streamwood/Palatine/Arlington Heights/Hoffman Estates. Hit a few by my work in Elgin too. See lots but not a lot of retro. Nes isn't too rare but snes/n64 I just don't see. Still, only been a month.

After being out of action for a couple of weeks due to hostile suburban temperatures, the hero of the story makes a few small finds on a brief 90 minute run.

Twisted Metal 1 (GH, Complete)
Final Fantasy Tactics (Black Label, Complete)
Tetris Plus
Mega Man Battle Network 2
Bomberman Pocket

All for $4.50

The two gba games were picked out a $5 lot with a (scratched up / battery cover missing / not sure if it works) gba glacier. Ironically the one that I thought was going to be a winner (Bomberman Pocket) turned out to be a loser, but the battle network games have gone up in price recently.

After missing last week due to vacation, today was rained out. I really have no luck at this, I should probably just quit before I get even further behind...

Well this is my first trip out in months because of the heat here. (8am - 87F) by noon it will be over 100F (todays high is a mild 111F. better than the 118F it was when I was at work the otherday with no AC)

Did not find much game related except a busted up 3rd party N64 controller for 25 cents. Figured i could use it for parts, and a pink DS travel case I bought for my woman

Did hit a yardsale advertising DVDs. There were 5 LARGE boxes.

Got:
Boondock saints 2
A scanner darkly
Highlander 3
Death Proof
Planet Terror
Spawn: the animated series
Sin City
The spirit
Beowulf & greandal
Day breakers

All for $10 like new or sealed.

Edit: Lmao. Just saw that highlander III is the french version. I almost panicked, after attempting to read the back, it says it has the original English version. So i just have to navigate a french menu xD

They also had a huge box of porn. I thought it was funny, but my girl got all butt hurt when I started to look at em. xD. almost bought a kama sutra book but it was a copy with pictures of models simulating the acts. I wanted the original Indian art >_

I bought a trunk full of mostly non-gaming items to resell, so overall not a bad day, but it's nothing of note. Although I few a few stories from today:

1. I overheard a young teenage girl state that "Willie Nelson sucks!" and that Carly Rae Jepson was awesome! Granted when I was 13 I'd have probably said something similar, but still...

2. Item with battery corrosion in the chamber, they wanted 10.00, I pointed out the corrosion and made an offer stating that it probably doesn't work. Seller quickly snapped back saying "oh it works! Sorry can't take any less!". Kinda set the mood for today actually.

3. I was told by a guy at the flea market to "check out the girl in the shorts" and he told me that "selling at the flea market is worth it just to check out the girls in the short shorts". That would have been fine and dandy if the girl wasn't roughly 14 and trash.

4. I found 2 Sega Genesis systems at a flea market booth today, guy wanted 30.00 for both. I told him no thanks and was walking away when he says "MAKE AN OFFER!". I politely decline and say "Honestly, it would be way less than you'd want for them, so I'd rather not, but thanks" because I really didn't care. He kept at me and finally I said "They'd only be worth 10 bucks to me".

He got offended.

5. Also found a table full of crappy beat up power rangers toys, asked the price of them, and he just started going through about how "these 3 are selling on ebay as a set for 100.00 so I'll take 80.00". fuck you, sell your shit on ebay.

That's about it, just some anecdotes from a day of sales.

I think I had good day today. Talked to some people, made buddies with one guy after having a lengthy conversation about Video Games and Anime. Only 2 of the Yard Sales I went to had games. I was asking 2.50 per game but was just lame PS2 games. Was interested in the Game Cube but were nothing noteworthy.

What I picked up;
1 Slim Silver PS2 System w/ Wires, 1 PS2 Controller, 3 Third Party Controllers
15 PS2 Games w/o cases (Most notable was a bunch of Street Fighter Games/Fatal Fury )
15 PS2 Games
1 sealed Marvel vs Capcom [PS1]
Hitman Trilogy
NES/Genesis/SNES Player w/ wires and 2 controllers
Boxed X-Men Genesis
5 Genesis Games
5 SNES Games (Killer Instinct, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse
Super Off Road)
12 NES Games (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Q*bert, Heavy Barrel, Tetris, Gauntlet 2, Mario Bros, Mario Bros. w Duck Hunt, Break Thru, Dr. Mario, Bubble Bubble, Super Mario Bros 2, Legend of Zelda)

Got all that for $50 dollars. There were some other sales but I spent enough to last me a while.

Gameboy color teal with 5 shitty games $3
Pokemon firered and ruby $3
Dreamcast with shitty games and sonic adventure/shuffle $10

I'm still on the hunt for a Dreamcast, haven't seen one with wires in wild in the last two years.

Today I got:
$5
Nintendo 64 console w/4 games (Doom 64 and sports)
10 Super Nintendo games (Final Fight and sports)
$1
Red Gameboy Advance SP
$1
Over 50 Cat5e patch cables of different lengths

Also got a lot of household items/poster frames/knickknacks.
Not a bad day overall.

I had a pretty lackluster deal considering I went to about fifteen garage sales and only picked up about ten small things. Didn't spend too much so I guess that's ok. I got everything pictured for about $8.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. Nothing at the first few sales I went to, even though one had advertised wii and ds games and kids blurays and DVDs. I went back by later and the other family had showed up at 9:30, but all of their games were overpriced. I did find a harmony remote, a digital voice recorder, and a Frost Cutlery store demo jack-knife for $15. A little high, but I've been looking for a harmony for my parents, and the knife is awesome. It is 8 inches long when closed!

A few minutes later I stopped by a random edge of the road sale and saw a box of xbox games. I started to go through it, intending to cherry-pick the copy of BG:DA and a couple others when the lady said "that whole box is $5". I paid up and left. I ended up with $40 of trade credit at eStarland + GTA:SA x2, Ultimate spider-,man, KOTOR II, and the BG:DA. Not a bad find at all.

Heres my haul from yesterday, nothing too good. Just enough to keep me interested in going next week though.

First of all, my parents have started going yardsailing now ever since I started bringing so much home. They picked this up for $1 at an overpriced sale, Ill keep it

I got this for $1 at a community sale, think Ill keep it

Got these from a community sale, guy has like 3 boxes of games out. Bunch of NES commons, gameboy. He had gamecube paper mario and pikmin 1 and 2, but of course when I opened the cases none of them were there!

Anyways, heres the pic of what I did get from him. $13

And another community sale, got these. All $1 each, Ill keep scarface. The other two I bought to resell, but are essentially worthless.

The last two thins happen to me at the flea market I go to every weekend. I probably miss some good stuff, but I prefer to go towards the end of the day when people just want to get rid of shit and pay for their spot, and even still people do that. I'll offer a decent deal(25 for an original xbox, beat up looking controller and...sigh...madden 05) and the guy is like, well I really want 60, I saw one go for 80 last week on ebay. I just walked away, didn't even respond.

Yea not much to report here, went to a yard sale two weeks ago with 150 people selling stuff. Didn't see anything, all the games were super over priced. I did see a GBA flashcart

This weekend I saw a wavrbird with no receiver and no battery cover for $5

got the following for about $10 total

Super Mario All Stars cartridge only (SNES)
Parasite Eve discs only (ps1)
Mario Golf complete (gamecube)
God of War disc only (ps2)
GTA III & Vice City discs only (ps2)
Mega Man 8 Anniversary disc only (ps1)

and 2 glass reptile cages... going to attempt to resell on craigslist.

sadly this is probably the best yard sale i've ever been to, they typically suck around here. i think this is like the only one that's had games out of the last 20 or so i've been to.
