----------------------------------------------------------------------

FAQ

Since when did Amazon start doing trades?
The program began earlier this year and is handled by a third party merchant, NorAm International.

What kind of shipping does Amazon provide us?
USPS Media Mail

Do I have to provide my own box or envelope?
Yes.

Do all my games in the same trade-in submission have to be shipped in the same box?
Yes.

Can I send in sealed games?
Yes. They won't reject games that still have the original shrink wrap.

Can I add Delivery Confirmation and Insurance to my shipment?
Yes. If you’re worried about your package, definitely take advantage of these shipping options. You’ll just have to pay a little extra to ship your games. NOTE: There have been cases where the post office doesn’t allow adding these options on prepaid shipping labels, but try anyway or go to a different post office.

I don't trust Media Mail. Can I pay for postage myself? What's the address?
Yes. You're more than welcome to do so. The address is:
NorAm International
43 Broad st. C403
Hudson, MA 01749

When do I have to send my games once I have submitted my trade order?
You have 1 week to send your games.

Crap, I have one day to go before my shipment deadline, but the website states that my deadline has already passed. How do I print out a shipping label and packing slip?
Load up any existing order (if you don't have any, check your browser's history), and substitute the transaction ID for the trade-in order you need at the end of the URL.

How long does the whole trade-in process usually take?
From the time you send in your games, it may take up to 14 business days for the package to arrive. Most people usually receive their credit in 3 to 5 business days, however.

My games were received on Friday (based on Delivery Confirmation), will I have to wait until Monday to receive credit?
People have received credit on a Saturday.

Can I do two different trade-in submissions that add up to the requirements of the trade-in deal?
No. In order to qualify for any of the trade-in promos, they have to all be in one trade-in submission. You can't add another game later on to make the minimum.

I submitted my trade-in order online, how do I know if I qualified for the current trade-in deal? Is there a confirmation page or e-mail?
No. They will automatically send you a coupon code once they have accepted your shipment of games and credited your account.

Is the trade-in deal coupon in addition to the credit I will receive for my games?
Yes.

Can I trade in DVDs to take advantage of the current trade-in deal?
You may trade in DVDs to add credit to your Amazon account, but they will not be added to the amount you need to qualify for the deal.

When do I receive my coupon code for the current trade-in deal?
The Terms of Service states 10 days after Amazon has accepted your games and added credit to your account, but it usually takes 2 to 3 days.

Can I take advantage of the current trade-in promo more than once?
These deals are “One per household” unless stated otherwise. However, you may use a different Amazon account. The credit for your games will be tied to the specific account used for the trade, but the coupon codes for the deals are not.

If the coupon codes aren’t tied to my account, can I use more than one coupon on my next purchase?
No. Unless stated otherwise in the promo details, these coupons cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. IT DOES STACK WITH THE ECA DISCOUNT, HOWEVER.

I do not have the manual, cover art, or original case for a game I want to trade in. Will they accept it?
While the details specifically state that original packaging is necessary, people have reported in the past that their trades were accepted despite missing some of these. This is extremely YMMV, however. On the other hand, older gen games, such as SNES, N64, and GB cartridges, normally get accepted without the original box and manual, but still YMMV.

My game is really beat up, what are the chances they’ll accept it?
This is YMMV. Some people have reported in the past that they sent in games in bad shape that were still accepted. Your best bet is still to trade in games in mint condition. Minor scratches are expected as these are used games.

My game is the Greatest Hits version, but the one pictured on the site isn’t. Can I still trade it in?
Unless the game in question has two separate versions that trade at different values, sending in a greatest hits version is okay.

I have a game from a limited edition bundle, will they accept it?
If the game’s cover art has a UPC barcode, they will most likely accept it. If your game's cover states "Not for Resale" and does not have a UPC barcode, the game will most likely get rejected. Some people have had their games accepted in the past, but this is YMMV.

The UPC barcode is not intact on my game's cover art, will that be accepted?
This is YMMV. Just try it, but make sure to have more than enough for the minimum requirement to qualify for the deal.

So if they reject one of my games, am I disqualified from the current trade-in deal?
Unfortunately yes. The best suggestion for trading in games is to trade in $10-$20 more than the minimum for the deal. By doing so, you will still qualify for the promo even if one or two games get rejected.

I sent in my games, all of which were in pristine condition with the original packaging, but they said that one game is damaged and is now being returned.
Always pack your games well. Put a lot of newspaper around your games in the box to secure them and to prevent any damages from haphazard box cutting. People in the past have requested their entire trade-in order if it’s obvious the damage wasn’t their fault, and Amazon ended up accepting the rejected game. This is YMMV as well.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
Yes. Once you click “Trade in” for a particular game, you may change the quantities.

So if I find a good flip, I can just send 10 copies of that game and not worry about Amazon accusing me of stolen merchandise?
Technically yes, but do keep in mind that it might still raise red flags. No one has reported attempting this so we do not know for sure. 2 to 3 copies of a game should be okay, but more than that is pushing it. Also, keep in mind that other CAGs might want to participate in the current deal, and trading in a large number of the same game will definitely lower the TIV of said game. Let’s be nice to other people.

Wow, these TIVs suck!
While that may be true, you will most likely save more money because of the trade-in deal coupon code.

What the fuck? The TIV of a game I just bought for this deal tanked! What do I do?
The TIVs on Amazon fluctuate depending on the number of trades that are submitted, and we really can’t do anything about it. The best course of action for trading in games is to lock in your trade if you already have the games or are absolutely sure that you can obtain them. You can always edit or cancel the trade submission if you end up not finding the games.

So if I can edit a submitted trade, can I add other games that weren’t originally part of the submission?
No. Only quantities can be changed.

If I change the quantity of a certain game I have already submitted for a trade, will I keep the same TIV?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon on preorders?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon when shopping from other merchants on Amazon?
No. ONLY ITEMS SOLD BY AMAZON.COM QUALIFY FOR PURCHASE WITH THE TRADE-IN COUPON. Even Amazon's other sites (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.jp, etc.) do not participate in these trade-in deals.

Does the ECA discount stack with the trade-in deal coupon?
Yes.

Can I use my credit (not the trade-in deal coupon) on items that are not video game-related?
Yes. This is the other perk for trading in games at Amazon since you're not limited to just video games.

Can I use my credit on items sold by third-party merchants on Amazon?
According to the fine print of the Amazon gift card use, some merchants are excluded. Your best bet is to try it on the checkout page of your order.

Same here, they got everything and credited me on the 19th and still no 50% code. Hopefully get it before the end of the month.

I locked in the TIV for two copies of Infamous.... still debating whether I want to convert some Gamestop credit into Amazon credit. The ratio is pretty decent with this promotion.

The 19th was yesterday.
Been 3 days and still no 50% code, Im gettin nervouse
I got confo and funds deposited on the 16th. I'm figuring they may have gotten flooded with the sale getting near its end.
YMMV!!!

They accepted two of my games w/o manual. One was Bioshock on ps3 and the other was a wii game.

KOTOR no manual, no cover art
JSRF no manual, no cover art

They're older titles so we'll see how it goes
Please post Amazon's decision either way.
Please post Amazon's decision either way.
I plan to. Even if the KOTOR's don't go through, i have a good chance of selling it and receiving $10.50 in cash after fees instead of amazon credit. I should have thought of that first
Lets see if we can get through page 16 without any questions that are already answered in the 1st post
so.....I have to actually SEND in the games, right? I can't just say that I will, then get free monies? cause that would be AWESOME.

Just a heads up, Infamous is back down to $25.25 TIV.

A better flip now would be Prototype which you can get for $31.5 at gamestop (20% coupon + edge) which also has a $25.25 TIV.

gonna mail mine tommorow, i still need one more box. And one of mine is rather larger for just 5 games.

Any suggestions on cheap boxes that fit 4-5 games nicely and cheaply. I've seen some cheap ones at rite aid and office max that look about the right size. Luckily I found a box that I got from gamestop when I ordered my DSi and it fits 4 games perfectly.

Also dynasty warriors 3 is a better flip than prototype perhaps, $39ish-->$33. Still a loss though. The ps2 version is less of a loss at $17.xx-->$16. But I didn't include tax.
Since they pay for the shipping, why do you risk it? Just send them in 2 different boxes.
I just am going to hate to keep track of a total of 6 packages when I can pay for it myself and send them in 2 at a time.

Just figured I ask if its a bad idea with shipping charges aren't factored in.

More drops of trade-in values:

:wii:
De Blob $10 -> $7
Metroid Prime 3 $10 -> $8 (d'oh - didn't lock this in yet)

:ps3:
Tomb Raider Underworld $13 -> $11 (I didn't lock this one in either :bomb:)

and yet I locked in 6 or 7 other things and they didn't drop. Oh well...

I don't understand how some of you guys are buying KOTOR and the like at your gamestops. I checked a couple around me, and I would be lucky to find a decent game, and even then only about 10% of their games have covers. Probably even less with manuals...WTF?!?

I found a KOTOR I and II. And another II that was disc only :(. I guess you just gotta get lucky, but since I'm in socal, there are tons of gamestops withing only a few miles of eachother, and I work in different places each day so I sort of have an advantage of being near a variety of gamestops. This didn't help me getting kotor, i just got lucky. But it definitely helped when I needed some 2k9 games and mirrors edge to fill out my orders.

You can flip Madworld for Wii right now since it's on sale for 19.99 with ECA it's only 18. The TIV is 16.50 for each worth it if you need something to push you over the top.

18 x 3 = $54 +$6 filler --> 49.5 + 30 = 79.5 + $6 filler

I dont have $54 in credit yet, but some might.

so madworld might work as a flip, I wonder what else might work.

Mad World for Wii is now $10 trade-in on Amazon. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for stuff like this once I get my codes though. If you can find any trades within $30, you can use the $30 codes to get more credit in another trade and get another $30 code. I'm planning to buy preorders anyway so I'm in no hurry to use them on my own purposes.

wow that literally changed in under 5 minutes, I checked it as I was also looking for other potential flips less than 5 min ago.

nvm, it trades in for $10, it just says 16.50 on the "Trade page", but if you try and trade it its only $10, so probably never a flip.

Yeah, I don't know if they're monitoring these threads or if they just jump when they see a bunch of trades, but that's the second time in the last day I've seen the trade values change almost instantly once we find a deal.

I almost guarantee they are monitoring this thread and others on the net. there is no way to react this fast if you don't. Gamestop for example usually never catches on to a flip or really care. They certainly don't react in the first 5 mins of it discovery.

Gamestop has a daily feed for price changes, new and used, so the earliest they could change it is the following day. Since everything on the floor is priced, they would never get any work done if prices were constantly changing hourly.

I have $84.00 in GS Credit. I'm tempted to just spend the money on 2 copies of Infamous and call it quits on the GS/Amazon flip thing. Its impossible to find the -amazing- flips like KOTORII because GS sucks ass and they never have case/manual.

I'm tempted to do the Infamous thing and get it over with...

Uh, they are selling Madworld for $20 as the deal of the day - of course they are going to drop the trade-in value. I really doubt it has anything to do with this thread.

My second package was delivered early Monday morning and they just credited my account 5 mins ago.

I also received the coupon for my first package, which was accepted and credited on the 18th.

Yeah that's what I resorted to. I locked in my values and will pick up 2 copies this week. Frankly I'm getting tired of looking I'll still keep an eye on this stuff though. Personally I just need 1:1 flips to transfer the credit and take advantage of superior Amazon pricing and discounts/promotion.

Very unlikely. Their trade-in values are based on current market value, but also on how many of a particular item they are getting in a particular day or hour. Whenever something drops in price at a large retailer, there are of course many people who immediately lock in a trade-in value for that item. As such, they immediately reduce the trade-in value since demand won't keep up with the greater supply.

I'll end up with like $4 left in GS Credit and $69 in Amazon Credit + $30 Game/ACC credit Coupon...

So, it's still a good option... And beyond that, like you said, you save more with Amazon. You can get basically -any- new game for $48.00 preordered using the Gold Box Deals thing..

Beyond that, ECA is better than Edge because you can use it on new games... I foolishly wasted $60 on the X360 BlazBlue LE at GS after flipping some stuff from BBV. I don't usually do flipping, but I got into it in the last month or so. It is just so -tiring- though. I'm pretty much done at this point, I just want to transfer credit to Amazon and wait for November. I have a good feeling about Black Friday this year, and I want to have a good chunk of money to spend then.

i'm starting to worry now. they received my package monday morning also but i have yet to receive credit.

Yeah this is more likely... Me typing again without thinking!#-o
How much credit do you have left to transfer, Commander0Zero?

I think you've solidified my decision to go with 2 Infamous, thanks. XD
After the 2 infamous purchases I'll still have about $150 dollars in credit left to transfer. The reason I took the jump and decided taking the $8.50 loss is becuase I'm going to pre order Madden with this. So the math would be below.

2 Infamous $76.98 ($54.99 x2 minus 30% edge and PS3 coupon)
Amazon trade in value $68.50.
A loss of $8.48 on the base trade in credit.

-But Madden 10 base price on amazon is 56.99 3 dollars cheaper than GS
-Madden 10 gets a pre order bonus coupon of $10
-The ECA discount (10%)
-Plus 30 dollars bonus to be used with a game purchase
So after the trade in I'll have Madden 10 for $21.29 and a $10 dollar gift card for future purchases (COD MW2 FTW!!) and a remaining trade in credit of $ 47.21 after applying all discounts and promotions (ECA and $30 promo). So do I like losing my $8.48 of course not I'm a CAG but look at what I'm getting basically Madden 10 and enough credit just from this trade in to get say COD MW2 ($47.21 balance + 10 gift card from Madden). This formula also works for MW2 where amazon is also giving $10 dollar game credit.

Even without a -specific- item in mind, its still a good flip if your tired of going to gamestop every other day to look for an equivalent flip to KOTOR II :p

Also, if theres time, I suggest waiting until you get Madden 10 in your gold box. Practically every pre-order $60 game is going for $48 in your "My Gold Box" or whatever its called. You just gotta get lucky and hope it shows up. xD

If MW2 show up in my gold box for $48 pre-order, I'm there.

$48 and I get a $10 Gift Card... that's like pre-ordering for $38. Sweet as heck.

I've been trying to find how to manipulate what goes in your Gold Box. Can anybody tell me how to do it or point me to where it's been posted before? Thanks!

I know someone already created a site, but with the amount of games on one page, my phone liked to crash. So I put together this (http://ativ.scurker.com/) to section out games onto individual pages. There's still one page that lists everything, but also additional pages that are sectioned off by system. Feel free to use it and put it in the op if you like.
