My 360 has started to stop reading discs. I guess I'll be calling Microsoft soon.
EDIT: Once I went to call Microsft it started working again.
Maybe you should just threaten to call the 360's mommy everytime you turn it on.
Ok... the following is off topic, but, there need to be some clarifications for someone that might read dmaul's post here. I don't mean to pick on you dmaul, I just disagree with some of what you posted, and some I don't understand.
Comes with component, only the Elite has HDMI.
Um... do you just mean the cable? There are premium system out now that come with HDMI.
HDMI doesn't make much difference over component.
Woah! What?! Maybe
you don't see the change, but I saw an immediate difference. Brighter colors and clearer picture. Not to mention the huge improvement in HD-DVDs. Even regular DVDs look a bit better. NOTE: I was upgrading from component premium Xbox to an Elite HDMI Xbox.
Not sure about upscaling, but that's probably correct as most stand alone players only upscale over HDMI.
It depends on your television actually. My Sony KDS does not upscale the picture from 1080i to 1080p through component. But my friends' television does upscale to 1080p through HDMI. Thing is, component 1080p is considered by some to be inferior to HDMI 1080p since the component is not native and depending on what's upscaling can give a slightly degraded picture.
The other thing to consider, is that the component cable has an option for optical out to run to your surround sound receiver. If you use HDMI, then you lose the optical connector as the componet cable won't fit in it's slot with an HDMI cable plugged in.
Are you talking about the premium w/ HDMI? Because the Elite not only gave me the ability to use HDMI for picture & Optical for the sound, but came with a connecter specifically for sound only. The only thing that I needed that wasn't in the Elite box was the actual optical cable. I already owned one of these, however, because it's what I was using w/ my Premium system.
Ok. On a more on topic post. Where exactly should I be checking the status of my repair? When I login to Xbox360.com I see no repair status page or link to such a thing.
