Since Gamestop shipped my XB1 DA: I Inquisitor edition in its original shipping box to them without any outer shipping box as well as seeing an unboxing video that made it seem even more cheesy than I thought possible, mine's going back.   Bids are starting to drop on eBay, as the XB1 version is starting down into the $225-$250 range, before shipping.  After fees and shipping costs, it's not worth trying to take a non-paying bidder to make $30-40 on it.

Mine friend got his and two of the pieces were broken and his binding is cracked. Glad I sold mine, it's even crappier than I thought it would be.

Will they take the return if you already opened it?
Luckily the CE content was packaged separate from the game. Since there are no copyright laws in danger of being broken (unless you opened the game itself), you shouldn't have a problem doing so.

Probably the bang-up job GS did with shipping it out without an outer box or packaging materials.
Maybe the binding, but not the broken pieces. The box is so poorly designed, they fly all over the place inside the box. When my friend opened his every single piece was out of its place and all out of sorts. It's a mess.

Yes...sort of defeats the purpose of the coins being in a hidden compartment if they are flying around in the chest like in Anchorman 2:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUEDVMOMY24&feature=youtu.be&t=2m17s

SIGH...fast forward to 2:17 to see what I mean. Never mind, the joke isn't funny anymore.

Really happy the Kingdom Hearts CE sold out. Made my decesion whether or not to buy for me.

Now if only the FFX/X-2 CE would finally sell out of their online store.

No kidding, I took it out of the shipping box only to hear everything rattle around inside so I had to fix that. Also one of the corners on the outside of the box was cracked/falling apart as well.

So, debating if I want to deal with Ebay or just return it.

I would return it, if the eBay buyer receives it with things rattling and/or broken and files a claim, you would have hell to go through.

Probably a good idea Shrike as it costs $30 to ship it UPS in its original Bioware/GS box with $300 of insurance (that was $2 extra.)

They really messed up on packaging for Dragon Age CE. Lot of people will get it with broken or damaged items.

I have to admit though - once I put everything in its place, it looked pretty good to me. I had rattling pieces inside but nothing broken & outside box was in great shape.

The content inside is not the best quality but most items are not as flimsy or cheap as you might find in some other high priced CEs

And some day I am going to use that feather to fill up that journal :p

My excitement for it went down a little when I first opened it, but after putting everything in its place & then looking at each item, I got pretty hyped up!!!

Kind of like this girl. The CE unboxing starts at 4:45

The girl had very praises about the cloth map, what do you think about the map quality? High quality cloth maps are my weakness, I just love hanging them up.

I just returned my Dragon age inquisition inquisitors edition....the guy asked if he could open it to take a look so I said please do, I thought he was going to cry! The "gold" border on the box was broken and the paint was nearly scratched completely off, the lion head was broken in 3 pieces, the coins were on the top, the lock picks were in the crevices of the felt, and the steelbook was bent from the castle piece pressing on it...I asked if I couls take pictures but he said he would prefer I didn't and since he gave me cash back (I payed with credit) I didn't push it. The cashier couldn't believe it he kept saying holy sh!t and I literally thoughthe was going to cry. He apologized multiple times and then took it to the back. Needless to say it was a sad day for me! I guess i have the witcher 3 collectors edition to look forward to.

I got my Inquisitor's today and I sold it as a pre-order on ebay a couple days ago. Put in the listing that since this is a pre-order I can't guarantee pristine condition of the item since it isn't in-hand and it's sold as-is, so if you are particular about condition, then wait until I receive it so I can update the listing. Someone bought it anyway.

Anyway, I got it today and since it isn't sealed I opened it up out of curiosity to see what the condition is like since people are saying theirs are damaged and just like my friend, two of the pieces inside are broken. One's wing is snapped off, and the lion's "crown" thing or whatever is snapped off.

Chances the person files a claim when they get it?

pretty high if that stuff is broken honestly not worth the headache in my opinion and I would cancel the transaction and just return it

I would if I received it in that condition.

That is kinda lame, though. If a buyer wants the item inspected before hand, they shouldn't bid on a pre-order listing. By doing that, you kinda negate ability of item inspecting and detailed descriptions.

If its in the condition mine was in then I'd say the chances are incredibly high! I was literally raging when I saw it. I imagine alot of folks are gonna be getting claims filed...much better off returning it.

To that effect, you shouldn't be selling an item that you don't know the condition of.

That, I don't agree with, because it takes two to tango, and there is no sale without the buyer complying. Some people don't care about condition, and eBay does allow pre-order listings. I'll never buy a pre-sale item via eBay just to avoid complications. Some people do.

I'm just saying that you can't (or shouldn't) just think that you can throw your hands up and get a free pass with no responsibility while pocketing the cash.

Is it a gamble? Sure, but you have a stake in it too.

Forgot to post this yesterday, but I think my Dragon Age CE came in the worst condition. That lion had a broken missing part that I didn't even see at all in the box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNvueYEurC4&list=UU2AzQfcwUvR_Afq67i9sEaw

You don't sound like an eBay newbie so I'm surprise you still hold this utopian view of eBay. Many buyers don't even look at the title, let alone read the description and agree on your "terms". They can do so because they know they can file a claim very conveniently and if that happens, eBay will make you refund the purchase without the least amount of effort of investigating the case, no matter how you reason with them and provide evidence.

You can't leave them negative feedback, but they can even if you refund in full and/or cancel the transaction. And unless you are a pro seller with 10k+ feedback, one negative feedback can seriously hurt business since eBay selling is pretty cut throat now, profit margins are usually low and you can never compete with power sellers because they have that final value fee discount.

So I'm thinking of returning my DA:I CE to Gamestop. Do you guys know if they will refund the whole amount you paid including the shipping charge?  I couldn't go to a store to order it there when it popped back up the 2nd time around.

It's not my view of ebay, it's my view of morality. I was just talking about my personal feelings on a situation. I know the buyer can do it. But I personally don't bid on pre-orders for that specific reason. Can't see the item condition.

Most retailers won't reimburse shipping costs.

Wow.  What a shame about the Inquisitor's Edition, huh?  I sold mine on ebay without the game for $245 shipped.  Mine was in decent condition, but the quality of the content was really bad.  It all felt like cheap plastic.

So if you preordered a CE from amazon and it arrived beat to shit you wouldn't complain? Be real.... it's funny how peoples outlooks change when they switch roles and find themselves in the retailers position.

Next time preorder 5; list 3 ahead of time (or a similar ratio). Never list every single unit of something as presale because their is no guarantee A) you'll get your allotment or B) they'll all arrive in pristine resellable condition.

Not to continue to send the train down into the valley (TL;DR - derail the convo), but his item description did say as is and someone bought it with that knowledge...

But then again I don't sell on eBay so I don't know how ignorant/evil the buyer can get away with.

Totally different scenario, because you never see photos of the exact item you are buying from Amazon anyway.

I can totally understand someone buying something on ebay as a pre-sale and them being annoyed that an item was smashed to bits or not what they ordered, but I don't think the seller should be the one to suffer if the item was packed well. The carrier should take the responsibility if it was damaged during transit. Because the item may not be able to be re-sold and then the seller just loses out, unless the seller has insurance.

Honestly, I can see it from both sides of the fence, but naturally I'm going to lean toward the side I'm on per the situation. If I was the buyer I'd probably be on the other side, but I'm not in this case.

If I bought that I would file a claim

That is kinda lame, though. If a buyer wants the item inspected before hand, they shouldn't bid on a pre-order listing. By doing that, you kinda negate ability of item inspecting and detailed descriptions.
if you listed it as new, it should be in new condition. If you don't know the condition of something.. don't list it. If you want to list it as used with broken pieces as a preorder you're welcome to but don't put it as"new". You're technically not supposed to list things you don't have anyway.

I guess I got somewhat lucky.  While just about everything fell out of the holders, only the lion was damaged (the crescent shape broke off, but I have plenty of epoxy so that should be easy to fix).

Messaged the buyer about it and they got back to me and said they don't care about the broken pieces.

Guess I got lucky. Gonna ship it out and hope they don't change their minds when they get it.

you can't put "new" and "as is" in the same description lol

if you list something as new, it better be new. It does not matter what else you write. If it's not in new condition it's not as described. Also the seller has to pay for return shipping now for cases.

The only reason I knew it had broken parts was because I was able to open it since it isn't sealed. It's not like I did it and knew before hand.

Although, in a situation where an item arrived damaged, I would hope the buyer would contact me first to arrange a return, because filing claims give you a knock on your defect rate, when it may be the carrier's fault and not the seller for damaged items.
