I feel like that Kingdom Hearts 2.5 CE is one of the worst deals I have seen in a long time. Really liked the $40 LE they put out last year for 1.5. But $100 for this? Plus they stuffed 1.5 in there. Not really helpful for people who already bought 1.5. I feel like if they knocked off 1.5 and maybe a gadget or two, they could sell it more fairly at ~$60.

My only complaint is that the spine of the Steelbook says KINGDOM HEARTS 2.5 ReMIX. Since it holds both discs, it'd be nice if it just said KINGDOM HEARTS 1.5 ReMIX & 2.5 ReMIX or something along those lines.

FYI, there's a video here that shows a close up of all the items.

Now I'm gonna have to import this like I did the Link Between Worlds collector's edition. I'm gonna have to buy a Euro 3DS and WiiU if this continues (and maybe a Japanese if we don't eventually get Fatal Frame). So besides having all these exclusives not in the US, they have their region locking still on it.

Maybe they will release it though since they did do the WindWaker HD here.

As much as I love Nintendo's games, I'm starting to feel abused as a fan. Have we gotten a single thing in recent memory that other regions didn't get? Not that I know of. But UK is getting special edtion Link Between Worlds, Hyrule Warriors, Pokemon remakes, Bayonetta, Majora's Mask, Mario Kart, etc.

I don't have a Xbone and PS4, but am starting to feel like I might as well get those since at least I won't feel left out in the cold.
Yeah, I hear ya barkin big dog! I've got the ALBW CE already and the Pokemon Steelbook remakes coming - if they don't release a custom "NEW" 3DS XL for MM over here, I'll probably just get a European 3DS since it'll be cheaper than me re-purchasing all these games in NA format if they keep this up.

The treatment to us though isn't really anything new - they've been releasing "limited editions" over the in the EU/UK for YEARS! Especially related to Zelda - they got those limited edition adventure sets for several of their releases (Oracles/MM/MC/etc.) and we got nothing. I really can't fathom why NOA does this - it can't be a distribution/logistics thing right?

doubtful and even if it does come here it will be limited to the New York Nintendo store with only like 200 available
You're probably right seeing as the company that produces steelbooks announced awhile back that they were changing minimum run sizes related to their distributions in NA we'll only get these steelbooks if they're left over/pulled from the EU run - which will most likely be a few hundred I'd imagine.

In somewhat happier news though, that box looks more like the UK Pandoras Tower/Last Story CE box type which was VERY well made and sturdy (as opposed to the Game.uk CE for ALBW). Here's hoping they stick with the better quality box!

Ordered one of the KH CEs. Hoping it ends up like the PS3 Lightning Returns and Drakengaard
I'm kinda hesitant to order this just for the valuation factor. I'm sure it will sell out but it seems like SE store exclusives don't really appreciate in value. Lightning Returns, Drakengard 3, Theatrhythm, and FFX/X-2 HD are the ones that I can think of and none of them are really going for that much more than their MSRP.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. Amazon UK doesn't ship a lot of games to the US for some reason, especially special editions.

Investing in video games is a bad way to make money. Collector's Editions that sell out are best sold within the first week of release. Lightning Returns. Drakengard, and Theatrhythm all sold quite high within the first week or so of release and slowly depreciate in value over time. This is most likely due to demand of consumers with high purchasing power. If someone is willing to pay a premium for an item they will pay it close to initial release. If you hold onto it for a year that person that was interested probably already bought it or moved on.

While there are circumstances that don't follow this trend like super rare games (Last of Us Post Pandemic Edition), most always depreciate in value over time. That isn't to say you can't get back your initial cost that you invested. I sold Drakengard 3 several months after release and still made $20. If I sold it originally during release week I probably could have made close to $60 or $70. With that said, I think KH will be a pretty cool CE and might gain some interest in the secondary market.

You take your chances on CE if you are a flipper\reseller. It really depends on the product. I had couple of good lucks with CE. Bravely Default ($100+ profit) & Last of Us Pandemic edition ($500+ profit) was the most current that I sold. Also don't get me started when WOW was first introduce and everyone wanted the keys as I bought & resold it on ebay & made $$$$.

Hence the reason why I bought 2 copies of KH 2.5 HD.

Pretty much. I've been pretty spot on with my projections for flipping games. I actually had a few post pandemic and sold them before they appreciated in value. Sorta regret that but still mode $100 or so per copy. I'm still holding onto my last one but I will probably sell that one since I really don't need it.

I also did Bravely which was good but held onto that one too long and didn't make that much, probably $50 per copy. I have good feels about Kingdom Hearts and I bet that Batman edition next year will deliver a pretty penny...

Agree with you except on the Batman front - that CE is released in nearly every major store in every major market (and some minor) across the globe. Not likely to be as limited as many of us hope.

Destiny was the same way and still sold for double the cost so you never know.

Destiny had a lot to do with the extreme hype of a new IP from bungie. Although the Arkham series is big, I don't think any of its ce have sold for a high amount above msrp. Might get a few biters before release depending on the quality of that bat mobile.

Yeah - there was always a "bit" of hype for these Arkham CEs, but then after they launched you could find them being marked down either to used SKUs at GS or collecting dust in the bottom of a Walmart case somewhere -- heck my Walmart still has 4 Arkham City CEs just sitting there on the bottom shelf.

Yeah you guys might actually be right. In any case, I could always return them if they don't sell for high.

One trick that I do is - if local stores still have them on the shelf. I'll post it on Craigslist and if I get a hit that someone wants to overpay me for it. I'll just run to the store and pick it up before meeting the person. (I did this with Xbox 360 & PS3 copies of Destiny)

I was in best buy last night doing the $5 sim GCU deal and i overheard a poor fat guy being berated by his wife, she kept yelling at him that she works hard for their money and all he does is spend it on stupid video games.  While he was wistfully fondling the Halo pre-order box.

I thought about walking up and telling him how to save tons of money with a cheap $5 GCU but then realized I don't think his wife would see it that way.  I hope you find your way to the promised land, my brutha.

Just realized I have to get $500+ somewhere to pay for Dragon Age Inquisitor, Witcher 3 CE and Arkham Batmobile :wall:
In the same boat. Im somewhere in the $450+ region with the Witcher 3 CE, Batman LE, and Batmobile. But with my GCU and hopefully I can sell the extra steelbook/comic/dlc bundle, I'll save some good cash.

I'm reasonably sure that the KH CE will be worth some money eventually mainly due to that disney pin in it. Disney collectors go NUTS for those things and because this seems like the only way to get it...........

I agree with you but I didn't say anything about investing in games or making money... but whenever there's an over-priced CE that I'm torn on, it's worth considering if the item will at least hold it's value so I can get I money back if I change my mind.

I don't consider my collection an investment but I do consider a game if I think it has money making potential (hey, why not?). I've done pretty well with CEs. Pretty much every CE I own is worth more than what I paid for it, except for ME3 and Killzone 3 (though I was able to trade that for a pretty decent game a year ago).

Yeah I considered getting both the LE and the batmobile for Arkham but don't really have the time to sell the extra copy of the game. Will wait and see how that statue in the LE turns out, if it is one that I want displayed alongside my batmobile then I will probably look for one on eBay or the CAG trade board. I don't think the LE statue will be be hard to find?

That was something I noticed too. Since you only get the steel in the CE which includes both I don't know why they didn't have the spine reflect that. Even if it was something like Kingdom Hearts Remix Collection.

I actually had planned on skipping this CE since I wasn't nuts over the forced double dipping. But apparently my KH fanatic friend missed out of the LE last year and I can give him my extra one as an xmas gift.

I also thought it was funny that the new 3rd party distribution company SE is using let a typo slip by in their automated confirmation email lol.

i hate to be a let down person but i just got my xbox one lords collectors since i missed the ps4 and figured id at least have one to display or maybe trade for ps4.  opened the box and its MANGLED!!!  so yay another amazon call to return yet another collectors edition cause they think that putting a few air packets is good shipping >.

I both love that Kingdom Hearts collector's edition and want it to die horribly. I'd jump SO HIGH to get it with GCU. However, $100 is a high asking price. I could get the second game for $32 with GCU, with the pin, and then get the first one used for $13.50 used, also with GCU. So, I could get the two games for $45.50. It's REALLY hard to justify another $54.50 to get the steelbook, the art book, and the plush. The plush is meaningless to me, and I'd flip through the art book maybe once, just to see what I paid for. However, that steelbook is gorgeous, and I want it. I've never been one to buy a collector's edition because I want it (usually just getting a game like Gears or Halo 3 and spending the money because I had it to blow). However, I REEEEAAAALLLLLY want the steelbook...so hard.

Contacted Amazon, got the Lords ship date taken care of. Just had to point the CS rep to my previous chat log, and they saw the promised expedited shipping and corrected it.

i hate to be a let down person but i just got my xbox one lords collectors since i missed the ps4 and figured id at least have one to display or maybe trade for ps4. opened the box and its MANGLED!!! so yay another amazon call to return yet another collectors edition cause they think that putting a few air packets is good shipping >.<. i wish i could go to the warehouse and just smack the morons that pack these items. hopefully ill bitch enough and get a discount on a future order. its just sad amazon used to be one of the best shipping companies.
Mine came perfect.

Damn it SE, didn't see this until after I ordered the KH 2.5HD CE.. They didn't do this with Drakengard.

"You will be charged immediately after we confirm your purchase. When you buy a yet to be released game from Square Enix, it is pre-purchase rather than pre-order, meaning money is passed at the time of transaction, the moment when you place your order."

As someone not entirely familiar with Kingdom Hearts, are there any KH games not included in the $100 Square Enix store exclusive version?

I'm considering it as a gift for someone, and would like to give them the whole collection in one fell swoop.

The 3DS game isn't in this collection.

So with the 3rd release date pushback of the PS4 Lords of the Fallen CE, do you guys think it's worth picking up an XB1 copy for $130?  It really seems like they're having some kind of supply issues, so if there's a chance of not getting one at all, I'd rather have the CE for my 2nd choice console than not at all.

I guess the best thing may be just to wait til the 11th and see if the flood gates open.  Amazon only has 24 left of the XB1 CE so i doubt they'll last another 5 days.

So to get them all the best/cheapest option would probably be to buy 1.5 HD, 2.5 HD, and Dream Drop Distance?
As was said, the 3DS title Dream Drop Distance is not included. Another matter is that two other titles, 358/2 Days and Birth By Sleep, are offered in a movie mode, meaning you don't actually get to play them. It is a bit disappointing, as someone who wants to play through all of the titles (especially since they made the handheld Chain of Memories into a playable game), but it's certainly the best thing you can get for someone wanting the greatest amount of story possible.

The cheapest route would be to get the Remix titles separately through Best Buy, if you have GCU. That you run you $32 for a new copy of the second compilation, then $16 for the first ($14.50 if you got the first used). However, the person, if you want to go big, might like that dual-compilation with the art book, steelbook (which looks glorious), and the plush. If you pre-order the second game, you get the pin included for free.

Birth By Sleep is playable; the second movie-mode game is Re:Coded.

From what I have heard the kingdom hearts story is extremely convoluted and makes no sense anyway so a movie mode would be kinda a waste

As a huge fan of the series it can be if you don't play all of the games, but if you play all of them it makes perfect sense. The people who say its messed up usually haven't played every game.

Or people just cant follow a plot?
