honestly I prefer it that way cause publishers were way way over producing LEs and CEs defeating the purpose of being called Limited or collector editions so it nice that they are starting to become actually Limited quantities again

Except they aren't really any more limited than they were before. It's just that there are more flippers scooping them up faster and in larger quantities because there is zero risk to locking in a bunch of preorders with Gamestop.com or Amazon.com or Bestbuy.com and then just cancelling them before release if they don't sell on Ebay. Until retailers actually require a substantial deposit and/or charge in full upon preorder and limit preorders to one per household, these will continue to sell out quickly.

Personally I'd prefer the "limit 1 per household" option as it allows plenty of time to build up credit towards a pre-order and apply said credit. Would probably be a LOT less pre-orders for things if everyone had to pay in full up front. Especially with a ton of things 1 year+ out being set to pre-order - it ties up your money. But the limiting thing doesn't really hurt anyone except those who have more than 1 collector in their family or who have to to keep sealed and 1 to open, but I guess they'd just have to watch unboxing vids and keep theirs sealed or something ;)

 
Limit 1 per house hood is stupid. I bought 3 copies of Bravely Default, and opened two of them, cause you know, two people in my house hold wanted it.

Limit is fine, but 1 is way too shortsighted.

Nintendo can sell Amiibo, but not many Wii U systems.  So why not come out with a Wii U Smash bundle that includes MTV?  From a production cost it would be marginal, from a buyer's view you could ebay the MTV back for over $200!

Hmm does anyone know how to check if it can be pre ordered in store? Like what system/screen they should be on to try? Im not kidding, im amazed most BBY employees at my store can tie their shoes in the morning. Id like to make sure they're actually checking properly.

Also im a bit confused as to why it says 'coming soon' instead of sold out. DOes that mean theres a chance of restock, or is that their new 'sold out' tag? Id kinda like to snag one of the FF type-0 LE's through them since GCU is significant on a 100 dollar item

Also, you can just buy a standard copy if you really wanted to play it for that system. Your reply makes it sound like the only way to play on your preferred console is to get the CE. Yes it may cost extra or you may have to jump through hoops, but it isn't like you're out of luck and forced to pay crazy prices. You also seem to have anger for MS as if they did some terrible things to you like killing your dog. I'm not going to get into the console debate since it is all opinion, but inferior in every way is totally not true. Each have their strengths and weaknesses and I own almost every major system since the NES. So I'm not biased like many fanbois are. I'm a gaming fan, not a [insert gaming company here] fan.

ah, yea i guess if i just wanted the extras thats one way of doing it but i think theres some DLC right? At least the demo. I have no intention of reselling it, i have actually never resold any of my games, EVER. Im just a collector that likes CEs. Im sure i'll get the regular version down the road when the price drops but it would be nice to have a CE. Maybe i'll look ino the square enix store, but i keep hearing horrible stories about digitial river

Plus it really is the inferior console. When every game coming out for both systems runs in higher resolution/better on the PS4 thats something you gotta take notice of. About the only thing XB1 has going for it is a bigger online comunity i think. Im not a fanboy of anything, i just have a serious distaste for MS after what they tried to pull with the XB1 up to release.

Dunno why but the stores aren't allowing pre-orders either. If you go to a store and ask a games person to try and put in a pre-order they'll try it and it either works or it doesn't. Make sure its a games person as regulars may not be that knowledgeable. You can hold out hope especially since the Squeenix site still have ordering avaliable but there's a good chance it's not comming back since its been sold out for a while now and only lasted 2 days

 
Disappointed I missed the type0 CE at best buy. I do have hope it will pop back up though because it says coming soon and not sold out.

I emailed him back on Dec. 30th and he said that they were in the process of reprinting the damaged CE's and that he'd update us once they are ready.

That's slightly disappointing. It's been almost 2 weeks since then and I hope there would have at least been some sort of movement on the waves of replacements.

You could fire him an email and not wait, though almost two weeks is more than enough time to chime back in and say "we're still working on it".

Once they are ready to send out replacement parts, they will ask for your shipping details and then send them to you. I think all we can do now is wait.
 
So I saw three copies of Medal of Honor Limited Edition at Gamestop...

How limited are these?

For $2.99 I almost want it just so I can say I have another Limited Edition. But it can't be *THAT* limited... Can it?

lmao I hope you aren't serious cause every copy of that game ever available was the limited edition I have never seen a non Limited edition version and don't think they made one

That was similar to how Ubisoft does it's Limited Editions. Came with a code that got you the Battlefield 3 beta a whole 2 days early.

 
FYI, I got an email today from Squenix saying there are less than 10k units left of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, so if anyone is looking to get their second or third copy gogogo.

From what I've read here in the past, most people that post have trouble even getting their pre-ordered CE/LE because apparently Best Buy just puts them out on the shelves for anyone to buy. I don't really see that being the norm, but you've been warned. :)

 
Hmm, anyone else going to preorder type-0? Still iffy about it 100$... Way too much for a game that should be 20-40$ /: even if its a psp remake atleast make the collectors more appealing

This doesn't help you now since it's sold out, but it was much more appealing from Best Buy for $80 after GCU.

I'm sure it varies with location for BB, because I've experienced a wide range of quality of CS from different BB stores, but I can say that I've placed dozens of in-store preorders for games at my local BB and that has never happened to me. Sometimes it will take them some time to locate the preorder, but they've always come up with it, and they've offered compensation without prompting or complaints during some of my longer waits before.

It was $30 a week at a time many times over the past couple of months, and there was even a thread here detailing how you could get it for <$10 when picking up certain types of prepaid phones--I'm set through 2020. I guess you missed out.

They go for sale at 30 for 2 years quite a lot, probably because they realized GS' rewards program is 15 a month and offers similar discounts. It's interesting but if GS were to offer a 20% deal similar to BB at say $30 a year, I'd actually take it without thinking just because they always have CE's and don't fuck up order allocation

If Best Buy were to permanently drop their price to $30, you bet your bunnies GS would offer something similar for the same price. But seeing as how it's such a lucrative deal even at the $60 I paid for mine (of course, depending on how actively you buy games), I doubt they ever will.
