Gotta laugh at the people who thought they could place multiple orders on BB on the same account one after another. You better bet that if Best Buy took the time to cancel multiple orders they also flagged accounts for abuse. If they didn't blacklist you now, you better believe your going in that direction.

I called my local Gamestop and they said that they were still accepting in store preorders. The only downside is that I had to pay in full now but I was able to get a copy. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, I'm a little "meh" on it at the moment. I did the same thing on my order, but I'm not expecting to get one. I mean, 5,000 made in total? That's 1/10th the supply as their last super limited edition, and I couldn't find one of those at retail for the life of me.

If I do get one though, holy shit! I'll be driving the dogs mad! :D WUB WUB WUB WUB!

Handing over $400+ to any store, GS or otherwise, for something that you're not likely going to get is just... not something I'd consider doing... ever.

I mean, if they're only making 5K for each console and they're only available at Amazon/GS... the odds really bad.

wonder if they did a even allocation meaning that each retailer only got 1,250 of each platform

Also it 5,000 total across both platform not 5,000 per platform

An intelligent person might realize that 1 per order is very different than 1 per customer and is not abuse at all. BestBuy is actually out of line for cancelling any multiple orders technically. Get REAL, no one is getting "blacklisted".

Some people are actually "Collector's" buying 2 is a very common practice as any true collector would know. Too many whiners about resellers & flippers in here now a days though.

By hoarding and reselling, you're directly taking limited inventory for your own selfish wants. That's against the community that CAG was built on.

Although I'm not a flipper or a reseller, for those that do that's capitalism at it's finest and a smart way to make an easy buck. Most people in here still get what they're after anyway. Ultimately it comes down to supply vs demand and manufacturers just making too little of things. This whole thing of making a witch hunt out of resellers banking on opportunities gets old and you hear it form the same handful of nerds in here repeatedly. I think it's you guys who need to "get the fuck out" simple as that. It's going to happen regardless, whining about it non stop and trying to make private circle jerk message lists won't change it at all.

You're really going to try to say you're just "defending capitalism", but you're against hoarding (aka buying up stock to resell / flip)? Reading between the lines, you seem angry. I'd guess you had orders canceled based off the timeline. Not a rash assumption by any means, Mr. Ad Hominem.

Understand this. There is no concrete behavior that will 100% result in an account being blacklisted or GCU being cancelled. Just because you buy 4 copies of a game doesn't mean your GCU will be cancelled. On the flip side, just because someone has abused limited/restrictions and gotten away with it 50 straight times doesn't mean they won't ban you the first time you do it.

I can say that A) people have gotten blacklisted for bypassing quantity restrictions and ordering multiples of an item via placing multiple orders either on the same account or on multiple accounts (they can flag your activity via tracking IP address/billing address/paypal account information/CC information, etc.).

and B) people have lost their GCU membership and benefits for abusing that program as well.

Please keep in mind that part A) has nothing to do with GCU. If they blacklist your account you will no longer be able to place orders online. They will NOT tell you that your account is blacklisted... they will start by saying that your billing information can't be verified (even when it is correct) and if you continue to pry they will just tell you that you can't order online but are more then welcome to make purchases in store.

People have even lost RZ certificates and points that were already matured on their account.

This is 100% true. You can read their forums if you don't believe me. Of course you get the criminal effect (i.e. "I didn't do anything wrong") but they absolutely do blacklist.

Best Buy likes money as much as happy customers, though they tend to lose money on unhappy customers since they either take their business elsewhere or need gift cards to make them happy.

On the flip side, just because someone has abused limited/restrictions and gotten away with it 50 straight times doesn't mean they won't ban you the first time you do it.

I can say that A) people have gotten blacklisted for bypassing quantity restrictions and ordering multiples of an item via placing multiple orders either on the same account or on multiple accounts (they can flag your activity via tracking IP address/billing address/paypal account information/CC information, etc.).

and B) people have lost their GCU membership and benefits for abusing that program as well.

Please keep in mind that part A) has nothing to do with GCU. If they blacklist your account you will no longer be able to place orders online. They will NOT tell you that your account is blacklisted... they will start by saying that your billing information can't be verified (even when it is correct) and if you continue to pry they will just tell you that you can't order online but are more then welcome to make purchases in store.

People have even lost RZ certificates and points that were already matured on their account.

This is 100% true. You can read their forums if you don't believe me. Of course you get the criminal effect (i.e. "I didn't do anything wrong") but they absolutely do blacklist.

They're doing much more tracking than they used to do a few years ago, with the tracking of returns, GCU and MyRZ programs. Anyone that doesn't think the GCU benefits and RZ certs isn't one more way to get customer buying habits and tracking them is foolish.

And speaking from a historical perspective, Best Buy was tracking customer purchase at least five years ago for Reward Zone, as five years ago, I lost my BB RZ Silver membership because I was buying numerous games to send to CAGs for cost + shipping when Silver RZ had member-only coupons for numerous items, including games. It was for Xbox 360 copies of Quantum Of Solace and NFL Blitz II, to tell you how long ago it was. I purchased quite a few of both titles, sold them to CAGs for cost + shipping and a few weeks later, couldn't access my RZ account. Spent multiple calls and hours on the phone getting it sorted out and the end result was that my RZ account was canceled for "abuse of the program". I ended up making a new one under a different email address + phone number, though that was the last time I decided to go out of the way for CAGs en-masse.

Companies do track this stuff to weed out the bad customers and marketing companies exist to provide those services to companies like BB, GS, Target, WM and the like. Don't think this is just isolated to the MM New 3DSXL. They've been doing it for years and it's getting easier to do it with more companies sharing information between themselves.

Back when a local BBY was closing I bought almost a dozen copies for America's Test Kitchen for $1/$.80 with GCU, surely that won't flag my GCU? This really isn't a question directly to you, just curious in general. Also, I've bought a handful of those Sunset Overdrive coozies that for some reason have a GCU discount.

I don't know man. When I'm in that position and I see old out of print games at some of the more secluded BB when I travel I always buy them on my GF's BB account or buy them without scanning my RZ account (If I'm buying multiples or have bought them in the past).

Yes I lose out on the 20% discount but I live to fight another day.

I think the abuse has to be egregious for your account to get flagged but again I don't know the exact details. It could be an automated flag/ban, it could be manually flagged and reviewed... It could be done by a computer or it could be done by a person. I really have no idea.

I don't buy skylanders or amiibos but at one point I thought I read on CAG that one of them had the same sku for all pieces meaning that regardless if you bought one of each or 10 of one it would show on your RZ account as the same and people were worried about losing their GCU privileges but I haven't heard anyone complain about that

I'm inclined to think that it is a review by humans, not their overlords. If it was done by computer I can see it being an instaban and that doesn't seem to be the case from what stories I've read. So I guess if I get flagged I can make an appeal at least. Of course, this is all conjecture.

 
Edited my above post to reflect them being gone again. Not CE related, but a heads up to the Borderlands fans, GS in-store has pre-orders for 5 Borderlands Funko Pop Vinyl figures.  Mad Moxxi, Claptrap, Gentleman Claptrap, Handsome Jack & Psycho.  I did not notice what the release date is (cant seem to find any info online either) but I pre-ordered all 5.

did you see any pics? I missed out on all those damn claptrap figures so might get in on these.

also I think 2K/Gearbox shouldn't have bothered with the Claptrap-in-Box Edition pacakged with game. An LE with steelbook and lithos for $79.99 maybe even $99.99 with so other random stuff would have been enough. Then have a stand alone product Claptrap-Stuck-in-a-Toilet-while-Looting Edition for maybe $250-$300.

They were selling those lithos for $15 a piece. They'd be insane to include a steelbook and a set of lithos for $99.99. It'd be more like $149.99-$199.99.

Which means the Claptrap isn't as overpriced as people are making it out to be.

$15 per? Hope they not like ones that come with strategy guides or card sized ones that some CEs have had. I know nice lithos can go for $200.

 
This may be a tad too late but I was able to web to store a PS4 version from GS. Might be worth calling and seeing if you really want to drop 300

Except you're assuming that people wanted those lithos that aren't even exclusive to the CE. Certainly parting this out you're not going to get anywhere near $15 each and I suspect most people would have been happier with just the game, a steelbook and the exclusive toy rather than being forced to buy lithos that aren't exclusive and which people could have bought separately if they really wanted them.
