You are right. I asked about a steelbook for my CE preorder, and they rang it up separately. It rang up at $59.99 for the steelbook alone. They did some trickery and rang it up with my preorder CE, and it auto-adjusts to $0.00.

Edit: By trickery, they didn't do a return/rebuy because of the $10 preorder rewards certificate. They did some bundle adjustment or something.

But if it wasn't even rung up, or rung up separately and had the price overridden to $.01 or whatnot, then you might be good -- still, it irks me a bit when people want to do this as it helps to dissuade companies from doing things like "free steelbook" giveaways and this steelbook is truly one of the nicest ones I've seen, let alone that it was essentially free if you were getting the game anyway!

I see. Was just curious since it showed $0.00 for steelbook while pre order bonus dlcs usually shows $5.00 brought down to $0.00 on receipts

Calm down bud I wasn't even going to return it and keep the steelbook plus I pre ordered it and got $10 cert. I've played the game already and if I returned it I'd lose that $10 cert

I ended up just buying the steelbook off of a seller in Poland; he had three up for sale so there are now two left. I think after shipping it was around $44. I didn't look much into the link you posted but didn't really want to hassle with it.

Another seller had some in Canada that they were selling for $25 with $5 shipping. Wish I got in on that. :(

Ubisoft has a 50% off sale on collector's editions right now. Essentially it's Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 for $65 each. Also available is the AC steelbook for $6.50, and some AC and Watch Dogs costume accessories.

i picked up the AC steelbook for  $6.95 including tax with free shipping.

Possibly only via Ubi email

Thanks for the heads up on the Ubi sale; I picked up Trials Fusion and the Unity steelbook.

Also, GS is taking Trials for 16.50 with PUR at the moment if anyone wants to risk it holding or a cheap rental.

I got an email from Ubisoft and when I click the link it gives me the discount on the games as well. Maybe you have to have a uplay account with them.

And my god this CE is beautiful. Cannot think of a better way to spend $150.

The game comes with a CD, map, thick manual and a thank you note. They definitely deserve my hard earned money.

I just wish I had time to play the game.

Anyone have these steelbooks? Are they worth having? Or should I pass?

Edit: went ahead and bit, $14 for both steelbooks aren't bad. If anything they are selling on eBay for $15-$30.

I've been wanting to get the watch dogs steelbook exclusive to UK uplay store but they really just won't make it available to US. I may just get the Dedsec edition some time this year

I'm kinda new to the whole Steelbook thing. Do you guys actually use the steelbooks? And do you put all you steelbooks together? Seems like they could rub against each other and scratch.

I have a game in a normal case in between the Steelbooks for that reason. My lone exception is all the RE movie Steelbooks are side by side since there's so many.

Yeah, I had a friendly member of another forum purchase one for me off the .cz site, then sell it on Poland's "ebay" (allegro) for a few PLN cheaper than other listings, sold it in 5 minutes or so. Then they just charged me the difference + shipping to me. Super awesome to be part of a friendly community like that! Came out to $23 so I'm happy with that! Getting all 3 steelbooks & the CE for under the price of the actual CE (thanks to GCU and reward certs) makes me feel even better about the purchase! Plus, I've technically supported CPDR twice (well, 3x if you count that I also am ordering another edition exclusive that comes with an awesome chest/box). Overall feel like its been the best bang for my CE-related buck in quite awhile! And couldn't have given it to a better gaming company!

Anyone have these steelbooks? Are they worth having? Or should I pass?

Edit: went ahead and bit, $14 for both steelbooks aren't bad. If anything they are selling on eBay for $15-$30.

Yes, I have the ACU steelbook. Its really nice actually! I also ended up getting the one that the artist was selling in his own personal site with his signature on it. Couldn't complain for under $20 for a nice steelbook. And getting 2 for $13 now is a steal with that link!

I couldn't pass up these 2 steelbooks for $14.62 shipped. Excited!

 
Ok, either i got really lucky or it's just really available but just now, I was able to put in an order for The Witcher CE for PS4 through Amazon. I put it in for day 1 shipping (don't really mind the shipping cost at this point) and hope it pulls through! I did keep on refreshing when I noticed it was going in and out of stock continuosly in the hopes that I would be able to snag one by chance and looks like I did.

So far it shows preparing for shipment in my orders so I hope its ok! Will update when there is any more progrees. =)

For those in the hunt, keep checking Amazon too..maybe they really do still have it!

This is fairly common. Basically someone couldn't pay for their preorder and had invalid payment. After they "cancel" the order, it's back up for order on the site. It happened for five days or so after the ClapTrap Edition launched.
 
Yup, I guess so! Now my order updated to "shipping now" and I couldn't be happier.... I just hope Amazon ships it securely. ^_^*

If only all the other CE that comes with steelbooks start doing this that would be really nice. I hate putting my games in a blank case because I don't want to scratch the steelbook.
