Everyone is canceling all Batmobile orders. Not just Best Buy.

 
Just got off the phone with BB who told me the following:
WB requested the cancellation of BB and all orders that were cancelled will get a follow up email "in the future" offering customers some level of resolution.

Per above sounds like everywhere is getting the memo, will be interesting to see what they offer as an apology.
 
Why am I not shocked that this community thinks they are entitled to something from Best Buy because their Batmobile Edition got cancelled.  

You all realize it was not the store's fault, right?

Pretty sure WB already decided that the only thing they are doing is providing people with the New 52 Skin Pack. I'm not upset as I had the LE already preordered as well, but I can understand how people that opted for the CE instead of the LE are upset since the LE appears to be sold out everywhere. I feel like WB should offer to upgrade people to the LE at cost for anyone who can show proof of a cancelled CE preorder even if that means doing a second run of the LE.

It's not abnormal for a company to offer something in the form of an apology when something like this happens. It's more of an expectation based on past experiences than "entitlement".

I ordered that Majora's Mask 3DS from Best Buy and it was almost immediately cancelled. It was hardly an inconvenience and the turnaround time from order to cancellation was so short I can't see anyone being screwed out of obtaining it elsewhere because they thought they had one on order at Best Buy. Still, Best Buy sent out $50 promo codes. I definitely wouldn't say I was "entitled" to $50 for that one, but ok....

This is a case where people had something on order for a year, many may not have ordered the LE when they had the chance and now can't order it, then something they were planning on arriving next week was cancelled. It would be more shocking if some attempt to make it up to customers (beyond that skin pack that's being given out to everyone) didn't happen.

Except something like this has never happened that I can recall. It's not similar to the Majora's Mask 3ds situation where BB took too many orders and some people got one and some didn't. Nobody is getting this CE. It has been completely cancelled. I just don't think there is a basis for BB to make amends and other than giving people the opportunity to order the LE, I don't think WB has much obligation either.

If they're going to include a statue of giant box or something, make it practical. Sorry to go on and on...but maybe someone else understands where I'm coming from...a lot of these LE/CE releases just aren't worthwhile anymore...they're too damned expensive and simultaneously filled with utterly worthless items. Who honestly bought the CoD: MW releases that had a drone or remote control car? Did you ever actually use it?

My ideal LE/CE is one that actually contains quality merchandise, not the cheap crap we usually see with LE's. I love steel books and soundtracks, but everything else that is usually included is garbage, especially the art books. Its so easy to produce a quality art book, yet we alway get these sad excuses for an art book. In all honesty, I would be perfectly content with a steelbook case, a soundtrack, and a really high quality art book. I would have no problem paying $100 to $125 for such a LE. Better yet, I would love to start seeing high end LE's, ones that contained a high quality replica weapon from the game, like the ones triforce sells. I would have no problem paying $300-$400 for such a LE. Again, the biggest problem with the modern LE market is 90% of the merchandise included is total garbage.

Out of curiosity, what video game art books do you consider really high quality? Are you talking about the full size ones from Dark Horse Comics, Titan Books, etc? Or the $300 premium ones that Ballistic Publishing makes?

 
So bestbuy just emailed me about the Batmobile Edtion cancellation.  They gave me a code in the email for $50 off my next BB purchase. Was not expecting to see that.

Fricking awesome of BB. Once again BB validates why I preorder there over every other retailer out there when given the opportunity.

I would have been happy with a season pass and this basically gives me just that with an extra $10 to boot!

Definitely nice of BBY even though this is not their fault.

Sucks the retailers are gonna get the blunt of the consumer anger here when it's most likely WB and/or Triforce (at this point, it seems to be mostly Triforce's fault), though it remains to be seen where fault ultimately lies... but I'm sure there will just be a lot of finger pointing and the truth will never be known.

I think this will change my mind about that Halo CE. This now brings it down to $200, which is what I was going to pay for the Batmobile, and I'm a heck of a lot bigger fan of Halo.
Add Gamers Club on top of that, and the some credit, and that makes Halo much more attractive.

This may have turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Edit--By the way, it takes off the $50 after it takes off for Gamers Club. So thats $10 more you are ahead.
It ended up being $150 plus tax. Wish I had a Movers Coupon too.

Meanwhile over at gamestop, I got tough luck, here's a link to the standard version. LOL Only reason I ordered from GS in the first place was because I missed out on Amazon and BB.

Be sure to add something worth at least $2 or more, or you'll lose that last $2 in value for the promo code. They don't function like gift cards. If you use a $50 promo code to buy a $10 item, the remaining $40 vanishes into the ether.

I just re-read the announcement and it looks like you're correct. You just get to pre-load it. Looks like I'm going all digital for Halo 5 and not doing either collector edition.

I got 2 emails from Best Buy with $50 codes regarding the Batmobile. I had two preordered but had canceled one on my own a couple weeks ago. Already re-ordered the regular edition with one of them. No LE but the $50 was a nice surprise.

 
I'm really surprised/disappointed that they cancelled all the batmobile editions! I know there were quality issues but man after playing the first few missions and seeing how the batmobile is such a crucial part of the game I really want it!

On a side note the game is loads of fun so thats something.

Has it been confirmed that the delay for the LE will only be in the UK?

I wonder. If they made 100 or so completed ones of these and then sold them on ebay... how much they would get for them. The last one was linked at 10k.

I wonder if you could make more off 100 on ebay than you could do with your entire original plan.

I'm actually kind of surprised someone like gearbox didn't try to just make the claptrap thing limited to like 50 and make a site to auction them off to the highest bidder and see if they couldn't get thousands for them.

If a few actually made it into the wild and I nabbed one...I'd say eff it and throw it on eBay, too. Guaranteed to be more than worth whatever satisfaction the actual contents brought you...
