Anyone else with thoughts/concerns on the Pipboy edition. I'm kind of new to buying CE games, I've bought a few in the past like Uncharted 3. I purchased MGS5 CE, Pipboy, and Juggernog all this year.

I do really enjoy Steelbooks and would like to start collecting those more then other CE items. Do you guys typically only get Steelbooks for games you own? Or movies and games? Or just the Steelbook(without game)?

Steelbook for a game I really want that isn't super high is almost always a buy.

I like the pip boy from what I'm seeing.

Yeah I am always disturbed when some unboxing videos have the person ripping of the slipcovers. Its called a "SLIP"cover. Slip that thing off! From the 2nd unboxing posted here you can see you didnt have to cut it, it can be slipped off as originally intended.

What really struck me as odd about the Pipboy unboxing video is that the "collectable metal case" actually does indeed appear to be a steelbook. I can't tell for sure. But when he opened it up I see a plastic, uniform spine on the inside. It bugs me because he never gives a clear camera shot of the outer spine.

Bethesda could've gotten away with charging $150 for these here. In fact I think we here at NA have the cheapest msrp @ $120. Europe charges €150 or £99 and in Australia, it's $190 I believe. Ebay prices have settled at $170 to $220 even though there's still chances of snatching canceled orders for these in 2 weeks for msrp and I'm sure people knows this. But they rather not have to take the time to F5 in front of a computer and overpay on ebay which shows plenty of people are more than willing to pay around $200 for these.

The base is a matte stainless steel with a fake rust print and the raised part is an even flatter pattern.The inside is a mimeograph style cityscape of London. I'll post a pic of the inside if I get time. Another small bonus worth mentioning is that I found out the the PS4 exclusive content that has a UK code is free on the US store so it's not a problem of importing only to chuck the DLC.

I actually only try collect steelbooks and unless the extra included are amazing (almost never) I just sell everything else off. A word of warning though; at least half of all steelbook editions are sold exclusively outside the US so importing is the only option which usually leads to 70-80 average price. Also, DLC which is common with day on editions and CEs is useless on imports since DLC is region locked.

If you are actually going to try and be a CAG about it I recommend trynig to size up supply and buy the steelbooks that will likely get cheaper over time on ebay as the game becomes less popular. Things like the number of countries, retailers, etc. will give you a good idea on how hard something will be to get.

I usually look at it the other way around. If the embargo is up a week or even earlier that means they're confident the game is going to be good. Since the embargo won't be up until release date, it can still be good.

Totally different game but I remember Mortal Kombat X did not have reviews until the day of release and it ended up being a really good game. I was hyped for this game so I recall this pretty well. I'm not sure if the online component played into the review embargo for that one though.

AC syndicate CE showed up today and I am not pleased. Box was packed in a huge box with no air packets so it just rattled around and busted up the  CE box. Not only that the game case was out of the CE and was shattered in the corner.

Called UBISoft and have to wait until they can get an inventory of stock for replacement. The rep said I was not the only one today with the same issue.

Well it's a Bethesda game so it will be riddled with bugs and glitches because they either A- need to stop creating their own engines or hire people who can make an engine, or B- they have like 3 kids beta test their games for 15 minutes before release. So likely they put an embargo in place until the day 1 patch is released that will clean up some of the problems and hopefully not sully the early reviews.

But really as bad as I want to play it after cracking open my pipboy edition I won't even try to play it till we get a patch that is at least 500mb in size. I can't recall any game from them running on their engines that ran correctly or even in a acceptable manner within the first month of release.

I'm almost done with dark souls 2 for ps4, and I have rocket league, pt demo, the order 1886 to play while Bethesda cleans up fallout 4.

Surprisingly my CE box isn't utterly destroyed - just a small bend on the tray that holds the artbook and poster. Did anyone have any kind of seal on their collector's box - shrink wrap, sticker seal, anything?

I believe Ubisoft is now using Cinram for fulfillment, the same crappy company that Square Enix has been using in coordination with Pepita Store.  They use the minimum of packaging material to profit on the shipping they charge.

Does anyone else sense RED FLAGS about this review embargo Bethesda has on Fallout 4 until November 9th? Like, doesn't that usually mean the game is bad? They will not allow any reviews to be posted until it's too late to cancel any preorders.

I can't recall a single time when a review embargo was in place until the day before release and the game was awesome.

Shadow of Mordor last year is one example of a good game getting that treatment. I don't see it as a huge deal.

Wow so I just found out that Amazon cancelled my preorder for the collectors edition of Fallout 4 wtf I had it preordered since June they never emailed me or anything wow

The embargo's for this kind of SP game (Fallout) are usually for story spoiler reasons, not because the publisher is afraid.  but we won't really know until release.  A bunch of reviewers have the game now and are playing so if stuff was really broken (like in Unity last year) we would start hearing leaks about it next week.

if they have the game early it normally means they signed an agreement not to, in theory you could post whatever you want, but there would probably be consequences

Marketing departments use folks with a social media presence as a marketing tool. Bloggers, Amazon reviewers, YouTube reviewers, etc get free items from companies to review all the time. Those folks have to agree to follow any date embargoes that the company has in order to get paid and to be eligible for future product reviews.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 had a review embargo and that game turned out great. I wouldn't be worried.

morrowind on xbox was almost unplayable because of the bugs,they have also published some pretty bad games

When I saw your Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 game review on CAG, I immediately ran out to Gamestop and traded in the Witcher 3 to purchase this. I also added warranty coverage to make sure I could have a working copy at all times.
