well count me as one of the people that had his Xenoblade CE shipped by BB in a bubble mailer. and half of it is crushed. Im elite plus, but it should not matter, this should not happen period. Im annoyed because I dont think theres anything that can be done.

The one my store got didn't look too great either. That's possibly how they got it.

Amazon delayed my XCX collector's guide until Wednesday, even with prime

In comparison , BB got my XCX CE here on release day when i'm not even elite

This shipping issue reminds me of bravely default CE damages situations at all retailers all over again. Common sense especially at a electronic retailer anything with a cardboard box packaging should be a automatic box.

So I had to share this, I preordered the Rainbow Six Seige Collectors edition, just got it in the mail and opened it up to see just the dam collectors items in a huge box with no game at all...
now I watched many in unboxing videos and knew it would be shipped like that but to actually forget to ship the game with the items is ridiculous. I had to call Ubisoft and explain the situation. They stated it must of been the third party shipping company mistake and would send me a new game between 7 to 10 business days... I was just annoyed and wanted to vent, anyone else here have any issues with this edition? I know many people thought it wasn't that great of an edition.

Yeah, it totally does. But that's what happens WHEN YOUR CEs COME IN PAPER fuckING BOXES.

fuck Best Buy.  Got TWO of the Xenoblade Chronicles X SEs for insurance and they fucked them both up.  Probably can't exchange in store either because they use those stupid cable security things that crush the boxes.

Going to have to just pay more at Gamestop.  Do I have to order like 10 of everything from now on and return 9 of them?  Getting tired of this shit.  Everything I order from Best Buy online I have to return or exchange, and exchange means driving around to 5 different stores finding one that isn't crushed by those stupid cables.

GCU isn't even worth the hassle anymore.

I hate to be so blunt, but I'd think the solution is to not order CEs like that or to not care so much about condition anymore.

If it's this much of a hassle for you, it defeats the whole purpose. It's supposed to be enjoyable and fun, and look how angry and miserable it's making you going through this. Seems counterproductive IMO.

My XCX CE came in a box way bigger than it needed to be and was damn near 90% air pillows. http://imgur.com/cW2JNZx

One corner still slightly crinkled.

I'd complain to corporate if the damage is so bad that it looks destroyed, complaining about the braces they put in store though is going overboard. Also that a 20% discount is somehow not work a crinkle or two considering you have the same chance of that happening elsewhere for full price.

Anyone know the size limit on Gamestop being able to use that packaging where they seal stuff in between two sheets of brown paper with glue?  Now I'm paranoid the XCX I ordered from them is going to be shipped like that.

As a huge JRPG fanatic being a Golden Era child of the SNES days since Final Fantasy II (US), this is one CE I'm especially picky about.

Oh the same day I just got my Gentleman Clap Trap in a Box and though packed fine, they sent me one  as "damaged product in undamaged shipping box".  Any damage on a $400 CE is immediately unacceptable just on principle.

Just can't catch a break today.  Going to have to stay off the internet until this is resolved so I don't see anyone else posting pics of their mint copies and getting pissed at my luck.  LMAO

I received a steaming pile of shit (xenoblade Chronicles X Collector edition) from Bestbuy. Don't know what my options are but I believe I'm fucked. Bestbuy's customer service is a joke. I still stand by their gcu and rewards program. For me they have a good track record for shipping items. I just got just cause 3 collector edition and it was in primo shape. It also had a sticker on it that said it was explosive. I guess that's the only sticker people respect.

Both of the ones I ordered, all 4 corners blunted and rounded and the long edges of the box crushed and crinkled.

It's still on Gamestop. I'd suck it up and order a replacement or 10 right NOW. Priority is getting a mint copy. Deal with returns of duplicates or mourn in private about the $18 loss with GCU later.

it not even best buy people from other retailer is reporting damage to including gamestop orders. It is cause of the kind of packaging used on this game. we all went through the same thing with bravely default CE over a year ago. with that game out of all retailers combined probably less then 15% didnt have any kind of damage done due to shipping by all retailers and alot showed up at retailers from the publisher damaged already to.

These were fine from the publisher. The only damage sustained is directly related to being sent in flat bubble mailers. That is ALL on Best Buy and they have a recent poor history of shipping non flat items in flat bubble mailers.

I've had Gamestop try to send me normal edition games in those glue and brown paper things that were mangled and twisted so bad that the plastic disc case was cracked and bent several inches out of plane. (At least normal non LE games can be easily exchanged). It's really unacceptable here because they charge quite a bit for shipping so they have no excuse for trying to be cheap.

Between Amazon folding amiibo boxes to shove them into boxes too small (again paid shipping because I don't have prime), Best Buy shipping CEs in bubble mailers, and Gamestop packing items well but choosing to ship damaged ones, I'm just done with their BS. The more they do it, the more difficult I'm going to get until I start returning stuff for having smudged plastic wrap. I'm seriously that sick of it.

Between Xenoblade, Chibi Robo, and Claptrap all arriving damaged today at the same time, today was the last straw. Maybe just ordering two of everything for redundancy isn't enough. Going to start ordering 10 and returning 9.

My XCX from BB isn't arriving until Monday. I guess I'll just order from GameStop and return the shittier of the two to GameStop. No BB near me has it in stock, but maybe GameStop will tomorrow.

I think I'm going to continue with only doing in store pick up from now on. I know some people have horror stories of stores not even receiving them but I've never had a problem with mine. This is the second time that I haven't received my item on release date and this might be my 4th time of dealing with damaged items.

Amazon will ban you if you order 10 and keep returning 9. I wouldn't be surprised if other places do also. I get wanting non-damaged items, but that's where collecting drifts into the disorder category. That's insanity, ordering 10 of every item.

I don't order a lot of CEs but the ones I did order this year(MGS5, Juggernog, and two pipboys) all came perfect from BB. That really does suck for people getting damaged ones though.

Would you buy a new Ferrari with a crumpled fender shipped to you in a tarp? No.

Collector edition game items are just as niche, even more so again with JRPGs.

It's simple really.

Stop playing football with the merchandise and stop shipping 3 dimensional objects in 2 dimensional packages.

I don't know what's worse. Getting 3D objects squashed by 2D packaging or getting mint shipping boxes and breathing a premature sigh of relief only to see that the item inside was dragged around by a forklift for an hour before putting it in the box.

Ferrari=Xenoblade CE

Damn....
Valid comparison.

Same <= 1% niche picky demographic in their respective markets.

People who own Ferrari's have higher quality standards and are more anal retentive about taking care of their stuff than people who drive around with a headlight hanging from a wire in their Kia and don't care.

Same applies to the target audience that collector editions are intended for, let alone non mainstream niche genre collector editions on top of it.

I mean, to be fair, no one wants a Ferrari with a damaged exterior piece because almost anyone would know that's bad. Most people that aren't video game collectors look at a collector's edition box and assume you're going to trash it like a box you get a microwave in. Not everyone thinks like you do.

An embossed art box explicitly enumerated as "collectible box" as part of the list of goods included in a collector edition item is a far cry from a plain brown ordinary shipping box.

Maybe I'm just conditioned to it. I mean, I gave up on anyone shipping anything correctly after the Gamestop box cutter destroyed Pit amiibo I got a while back. If something comes in one piece, I get over little dents and scratches.

It's not a valid comparison at all. For one, I never said there is anything wrong with wanting items in great condition. I said ordering 10 of them to assure it, is way out of control and returning 9 games all the time could very well get you banned from many retailers.

There is a big difference between wanting something you pay 700k for to be in great condition and an $80 game. There just is. Naturally, the more you pay for something, the higher your expectations are. And, if I were to buy a Ferrari and the dealer didn't have any and were bringing some in from overseas, I'm not going to tell him to order 10 of them just to assure one doesn't have a scuff on the door.

This is especially eating me tonight because I just literally spent a day this week running around town exchanging and returning 4-5 other CE items that I've been holding onto for the past month so I could do it all at once.

Not a day later I get a damaged amiibo, a damaged Claptrap in a Box, and 2 damaged Xenoblade SEs all at the same time from three separate retailers.

Normally I just reorder, return, exchange etc. and move on.  But both the quantity of items this week, and the fact that one of them isn't in store or available online to re order, makes it especially troubling.

This happens all the time and I just reorder/return/exchange and move on.  Still, it was always my darkest fear that this was bound to happen some day with an extremely limited item that has been out of stock since being listed.  That's why I ordered two.

I guess I should be happy that crumpled video game boxes are the biggest problem in my life.

Just got a chance to check my XBX CE from BB. Was sent in a box. With a single POPPED air cushion, and the box was crushed. Damaged the collector's box.

Anyone know if I have to keep the box sealed if I want to return it? I haven't made a decision yet, and it depends on any damage to the items inside

if you want to return it then yes it must remain sealed to be accepted returned

Not sure but I'd guess yes it needs to be sealed. Most retailers won't accept returns on a open video game, pretty sure a CE isn't any different.

The whole not accepting returns on open media is due to overblown hype and fear in the industry about copying (pirating) media and returning it, something that hasn't even been possible for the average casual consumer with unmodified gear since what 1995?

Typically the plastic game case inside of a box set is sealed in standard plastic wrap and that is sufficient for return under the very policy restricting returns on open media, eg the game media itself is still factory sealed.  Most of the time when you return a CE bundle box they are going to peel the little round sticker back and make sure nothing was removed anyway.

You can easily replace a 2" round sticker worst case if they give you trouble. Just smile when you go back the next day.

Breathe... Breathe... It's a Damn game. No need to have a heart attack over it.

Amazon will ban you if you order 10 and keep returning 9. I wouldn't be surprised if other places do also. I get wanting non-damaged items, but that's where collecting drifts into the disorder category. That's insanity, ordering 10 of every item.
Thats the dumbest thing i've read all day. Collectors editions are specifically for collectors. We expect shit in mint condition when were shelling out for these overpriced things. Its fucking bullshit the ridiculous way a lot of these things are being packaged these days. If companies cant send them to us in that condition then i see no issue with ordering multiple copies until they get it right.

The absolute price tag is irrelevant. $700k for a person buying that is probably just as disposable to them as a $200 on a collector edition video game is to someone collecting video games.

They are both limited quantity exclusive niche items and by definition marketed towards a very very small niche sub market which includes the pickiest and most scrutinizing customers there are who value original condition above all else.

It's an interesting comparison because it brings out a point that some people associate the absolute price of an item with how picky someone should be "allowed" to be regarding something they purchased when that should be irrelevant.

The big difference is that it would be easy to get the car repaired and back to like new condition.

I guess I've been lucky. The only CE I can recall being shipped damaged was DAI:IE, which I'm assuming is a lost cause to getting the broken bits replaced at this point. I can't even remember what was broke in mine. :D

My Xenoblade Chronicles X showed up from BB in a box in mint condition lol.

Anybody who wants to be mad about things not getting shipped in boxes should direct their rage towards Amazon. All those 8x6x3 and 17x14x5 boxes they sent with a toothbrush or a loofah have screwed everyone over in regards to dimm waivers.

Because documented body damage repair on the VIN of a Ferrari, or any car for that matter, won't tank the collector value or the KBB or hurt the title at all right? Lol

You know they even have paint depth gauges and paint analyzers to verify authentic original Ferrari paint right? You thought I was picky over a video game lmao.

I'm getting a mint copy of this. That is without question.

What is more pressing is the war path that is to come from here on out. I'm done with being disappointed 8 times in a row by all my items being damaged. There will be more extensive measures taken to protect myself and ensure I get what I want, especially when they are items that will be long sold out by the time I get them.

There will be nuclear fallout from here on. This is going to hurt someone's wallet until the point comes across, and it's not going to be mine.

Fallout 4 is the only thing in the past month that has escaped damage only because it's a hard plastic shell with rounded corners so there's nothing to fuck up.

NISA is pretty much the only company I can rely on to adequately pack and ship mint CEs time and time again without fail. Everybody else better start hiring more return department personnel. They are going to need them real soon. It is now my mission in life to convince retailers that skimping to save 25 cents on packing materials costs them more in the long run.

Just listen to what you are saying, man. You are comparing a video game to a Ferrari. People can be as picky as they want about whatever they want, but those are two entirely different classes. The wealth of the individual buying each is irrelevant. Even if the person buying the Ferrari is a billionaire, the fact that they are spending hundreds of thousands on a car doesn't change the value of the car. The more valuable the item, the higher expectations you should have for the condition. You took the most extreme of extreme examples.

That's like me whining that there was a hair in my can of sprite, someone telling me to calm down about it because it's only a can of soda, and me going "Well, what if your Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon had a hair in it, you wouldn't be too happy about it would you?"

Your sprite example is like getting pissed about a regular plain jane copy of a regular mass produced game like Call of Duty or Halo being damaged.  There are 10s of millions of identical copies of them you can replace yours with and they will be in print for years.  It wouldn't be an issue.  It would be like "Oh my standard edition Honda Civic DX was scratched, whatever will I do, they only made 3 of them".  Not.

Sprite isn't a low volume limited edition item that sold out the day it listed.  Your comparison is flawed.  My comparison compares two similarly low volume "special edition" items on both ends of the scale.

If this was a regular copy I would have never even posted about it,  I would have simply exchanged it on the way home in the morning.

This actually happens quite often and is a huge PITA having to constantly have multiple outstanding orders and exchanging and returning them locally.  This just happens to be the first time Best Buy has bit me with an item that has been OOS since it was listed.  Knew it was only a matter of time.
