Just received my octopath traveler CE earlier, very nice. I hope the game sells well in general, maybe they will revived ogre saga with this graphic style on switch. But one can dream.
 
I recently ordered three LEs from Best Buy and they shipped them all together in a single bubble envelope. As expected, the boxes were totally smashed up.
 
Did anyone else's Shining Resonance Refrain Draconic Launch Edition arrive with the plastic slip cover weirdly bent? It looks like the plastic is too big for the metal case, so it got bent during shrink wrapping. And the shrink wrap isn't even tight.

I picked mine up at the store and no the slip cover isn't supposed to be like that. It's meant to have a snug fit but not too tight or too loose around the metal slip case.

You mean Ogre Battle? Still have my copy on PS1; tried to get it for SNES back in the day but only Hollywood Video had it for rent and it was OOP. Would have done the ole, 'oh I lost it. . .' trick but I was not a rich boi at the time.

I'm surprised they put it back up, I don't have specific numbers but insiders I've talked with say it is an actually limited release due to the manufacturing

Similar experiences as you with my past few BBY orders... I figured I'd try in store pick up but even that's a risk bc the last time I did it was with the God of War Stone Mason and it looked like it was kicked around quite a bit.

Amazon, even though they also ship in bubble mailers, is usually better. I think there's a distribution center near me so the packages don't spend much time in transit/don't get damaged.

Anyone k ow or have any experience with Square Enix customer support? Got around to opening my Octopath CE today and that pop-up book is pretty poorly put together. Some of the art is bent like it wasn’t laid flat when the book was closed, the page that holds the coin was separating, and the outer clear plastic slip box is cracked on one of the flaps. Was curious if they might replace those parts.

Edit: called around to a couple of GSs and it’s officially sold out. No more online preorders and no more in-store preorders.

I have a feeling more will be released as we get closer to the release date. Hard to tell with some of these Gamestop exclusives. For example, the Mario and Rabbids CE sold out early but was then readily available for a while after its release date.

 
Got an e-mail from BB that my Steelbook version pre-order of Shadow of the Tomb Raider got bumped up 2 days early.  Apparently, 48 hours early access is now one of the perks of that version.  Wednesday now, instead of Friday.

Which is kinda stupid -- if one already knew the common dates for releases.

Because normal game releases in the U.S. have always been on a Tuesday.  I think in Europe and elsewhere their releases are always on a Friday.  But more and more U.S. releases have shifted to Friday, as to accommodate the "releasing worldwide" tagline.  Iono, I think it's just shady how these publishers play tricks with these release dates, as selling points.  Of course, I have no debate to it's effectiveness.

I got the email too. I was checking release dates because Wednesday seemed weird and noticed that Fallout 76 is a Wednesday too.

A long time ago (in a galaxy far away) all video games got released on Friday, which was great, you got the whole weekend to immediately play it.

Sometime since then, games shifted to a Tuesday release, and I’ve always considered that to be a moronic change. I believe it had something to do with UPS/FedEx shipping costs or something incidental like that.

It's back up, or at least, the "add to cart" option is there. I really want that artbook so I even thought about it, but holy fuck, full price CE + tax + shipping = no thanks. Now I remember why I don't order anything from GS anymore. Could at least give us free shipping but nope.

EDIT* just realized this doesn't have the game. Wow, $150 this is nuts.

This is just not accurate. For many years, video games never had set release days and they just showed up when distributors delivered them to retailers. Starting in the early 90s (some accounts say that Sega really started the trend with Sonic 2) Tuesday has always been the new release video game day. There have been exceptions and for many years, Nintendo used Sundays, but Friday was never new game release day in the US, although it was in parts of Europe.

Both are showing up on Amazon for me. I had not planned on even buying this game but all the zombie modes sound fun so I went ahead and placed an order for the Xbox One version from Best Buy with GCU. With the cost of the DLC pack probably being in the $40-50 range this bundle with the 20% discount seems like a steal.
