im down for one. though im not sure how i feel about the kinect voice control just yet. but it would be interesting if they did something like what they are doing for the new ghost recon.
I think token's experience was unusual. I did see a ME2 in the wild but it was at target and spiderwrapped to hell.

I think the ME3 CE will be overproduced but I ordered one anyway.

edit: hmm maybe we should all cancel. 3/6/2012? This is just giving EA the heads up to print too many copies.
I'm thinkn the same but it's EA, who knows w/ them sometimes.

Even if it is overproduced i think the extra swag and DLC plus the added benefit of peace of mind knowing I'll get a CE copy for 30 extra bucks is fine by me.

I don't know if you wanna justify this as a CE or not, but it's pretty damn important to me at least. Especially the GameStop exclusive part, not that I like that at all.

Unless I'm missing something that doesn't mention anything exclusive. EDIT: just noticed the seal, nvm. The wording sounds like it's not exclusive though.

Either way essentially it's $20 more. You can almost always pay $20 less elsewhere, so that's how I valuate gamestop exclusive stuff.

What...? It's a free upgrade. Why does it cost $20 more? And I thought the Signature Edition is the GameStop exclusive. Did they announce otherwise?

Because gamestop has the worst prices around? A free upgrade on an awful price isn't free.

I can't even think of the last game that wasn't available somewhere for at least $45 after gc/coupon. Most you can squeeze a $20.

If I buy this at gamestop over kmart or BB I'm spending $20 more.

Well, Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition prices after release were higher than the retail price so I guess you could:

1. Pre-order and maybe sell it for profit, or not pick it up at all if prices aren't inflated.

or

2. You think the content is worth not getting the promo credit from other retailers.

Once again, same with the DA2 SE. There's not much risk here, and it still is exclusive and a "CE" regardless of whether you think it's worth it or not. Half of the CEs in this thread aren't worth the extra money to other people, because retailers rarely put any promo credit on CEs. Doesn't mean people don't buy them...

DA2 SE wasn't retailer exclusive. And the prices for it were hyped beyond belief and quickly fell because nothing that came with it was worth the premium. I'm not saying this won't be valuable, just that I'm not sure that it's worth the premium of buying at gamestop at MSRP.

I don't understand why this confuses anyone who keeps up on new release deals. The standard version of this game will be widely available with much better deals, likely a $20 gc offer which is as good as $40 for most. BB, kmart, toys 'r us, etc.

This is likely to be a standard edition with different case artwork and a DLC code. $20 worth of free DLC when you overpay by $20 is at best meh, and if you don't care about most of the crap dlc bundled in you're paying for the box.

I realize that $60+$20 isn't the same as $40. But $60+dlc isn't exactly better.

Lots of places, like Kmart, ToysRUs, and Amazon.

I have Madness Returns preordered at Amazon right now for $45 with no coupon mess either.

When I preordered AC:Revelations about a week ago to get the kickass penny arcade poster the guy told me the Sig edition would be a free upgrade to those that preordered, just like DA2.

Witcher 2 collectors edition is back on sale at amazon. I saw it for $78 as acceptable on amazon warehouse so I picked that one up. Not sure if people had regrets spending $130 or they found more or what, but it's there right now.

DA2 SE wasn't retailer exclusive, but there wasn't any credit on it from any retailer either (unless you bitched to Amazon CS, which I admit I did after the fact).

Idk, I still see no difference considering 99% of CEs are not worth the extra they're charging. You pay a premium for the extra garbage. It's worth it to some people, not to others. AC:B DLC "maps" sold for a good $15 each on eBay and they literally were only a room in the game with pretty much nothing in it.

I think the question here is definitely IF you care about this stuff. But, that's the case with every premium version, isn't it?
Just an FYI. I cancelled my PS3 Oblivion preorder last night and it showed up in my gold box this morning (so I reordered it).
Were do you find your personalized Gold Box deal? I only ever see the one thats for everyody.
Wtf do you do with a fabric patch. That's worse than a temporary tattoo. Whaaaaaat :'(
You iron it on your jacket or backpack and be proud of it ;) Temporary tattoo is worst as it lasts only for a day or so.

It will be on the same page, you have to be logged in to see your offers.

1) So basically login
2) click on the gold treasure chest
3) Scroll down below the lighting deals and you should see 1-6 items that are your goldbox for the day.

Thanks I see it now called my "quick picks" never paid attention before

Man... so many awesome special editions this year. I definitely want the U3 one and the Dark Souls one (thank god that one's a freebie).

I think I'm going to cancel the Catherine SE... my interest in the game has waned and special edition wise, that box is going to be hard to store.

for some reason i feel like there wont be a skyrim CE.. i mean mass effect 3 comes out next year and they announced the CE already.

skyrim comes out in what...

what month are we in right now anyway? xD

I was thinking the same thing. I cant believe they wouldnt release one though. With all of the crap games that have CE you would think an awesome game like Skyrim would be a no brainer for a CE. I know it would be one of the few games I would buy CE day one for (the other being ME3 which I already preordered on Amazon).

I only see it for $130.

Bethesda officially announced the Oblivion 5th year ed. and it'll ship July 12th

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/...edition-coming-to-north-america-on-july-12th/
Hot of the press! This afternoon we’ve officially announced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition — coming to North America (more details on Europe soon) on Tuesday, July 12. Read the full release below:
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition Available July 12th!
We are pleased to announce that The Elder Scrolls IV™: Oblivion® 5th Anniversary Edition will available in North America on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.
The anniversary edition, which has a suggested retail price of $29.99, is the complete collection of the original award-winning game as well as the Knights of the Nine®and Shivering Isles® expansions. With countless ‘Game of the Year’ awards and overwhelming critical praise, Oblivion still remains a defining game in the role-playing genre. Celebrate one of the most expansive next-generation titles ever to be released on the Xbox®360, PlayStation®3, and PC platforms with this definitive, limited-edition compilation.
The Elder Scrolls IV™: Oblivion® 5th Anniversary Edition includes:
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: With the empire ready to crumble, the gates of Oblivion open and demons march upon the land. You must find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.
Knights of the Nine: A fallen King has been unchained from the darkness of Oblivion to seek vengeance upon the Gods who banished him. Only a champion pure of heart can vanquish the evil that has been released.
Shivering Isles: Enter the torn realm of Sheogorath – a world where Mania and Dementia reign. Do you have the strength to survive his trials, to tame a realm fraught with paranoia and despair, and wear the mantle of a God?
The North American 5th Anniversary Edition also includes:
Collector’s Steelbook: A beautiful collectible metal case masterfully embossed with Daedric symbols.
Making of Oblivion: A behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Oblivion.
Oblivion Game Map: A full-color map of Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles.
Save on Skyrim: Contains a $10 mail-in rebate offer for the purchase of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and a Skyrim strategy guide.
Details on the versions that will be available in the rest of the world and their contents will be released soon.

Mail-in rebate makes it a good 2 months before you'll receive the $10. And... if they want you to send in the UPC from Skyrim, screw that. It'd better be the receipt (and work for the CE if there is one), or I think I'm just gonna keep the thing sealed.

I am starting to feel the same way about catherine. I have the SE pre-ordered from amazon....but really starting to second guess it. Maybe even wait til bargin bin for it as the buzz has been lost for me. Giantbomb quicklook got me feelin better about it originally, but now...not so much.

How come on amazon's mass effect 3 collector's edition page it says release day shipping, but when at checkout there is no such option.

I thought Bioware was going to do a "Prestige" edition of ME3. I was hoping it would come with a book with all the codex entries.

Nice, I wouldn't mind owning that CE for a cheap price. So many delicious goodies included!

Yeah, I figure 40 will happen eventually and I'll setlle for that. I just bought Witcher 2 CE for 77 used on Warehouse Deals so my CE budget is gone for a few months.

It is very common for countries other than the US to get extravagant CEs while ours pales in comparison. The AC:R CE has not been confirmed in the US yet

That Uncharted looks pretty sweet.
