Sweet jesus, that's criminal if true.

I would be very upset if that's true...

Added the MGS HD LE. It has a huge art book included but that's it. It's on Amazon already for $79.99. I

WOW, I love my MGS, but $30 more for just the artbook and cardboard packaging? I'll pass until it's half that price, which may never happen with limited quantities (see Peace Walker LE).

It is a little pricey, but at the same time if they sold the art book separately it would likely sell for around $30 anyway. I do wish they just sold it separately as I don't plan on buying the collection at launch and this may not be around long enough to get discounted

These MGS Limited Editions are usually extremely limited. I still have my MGS3 Subsistence LE and that thing has really increased in value. I even got two of my copies of them signed by Kojima and the MGS series artist, Yoji Shinkawa. No idea how much they're worth though. My copy with Kojima's signature is still sealed (except for the section where I tore away some plastic on the cover for him to sign it).

Damn.

I have the other MGS LE sets (MGS 3: Subsistence, MGS4, and Peace Walker) but I'm not sure I can justify $80 just to get an art book....

At first glance at the MGSHD collection price, I was like damn, $30 for an artbook? But then I saw it was ~250 pages, and then thought that it was a lot better than some other artbooks, for sure.

I, for one, will be picking up the MGS HD LE. I played through them all on the PS2, and have been meaning to give them another go. In fact, I just sold off my sealed MGS compilation for the PS2 in anticipation for the HD rerelease, which net me $30.

I already own the MGS4 LE. This will go with it nicely.
Going to be getting 3 copies. One on Xbox 360 to open and play, and 1 PS3 and 1 Xbox 360 sealed.
I wish I had the kind of cash to do that :/ I'm either getting the 360 version or PS3 (MGS on Xbox sounds kind of awesome, not to mention cheevos), but a few friends are getting it on PS3, but I have a BC PS2 and the other metal gear's :( Dunno which to choose.

I already have so many gsmes in mind to get around the Holidays and now this gets announced. I admit, the price kinda steep but I'm a HUGE Kojima and MGS fan so I'm in.

The artbook is gonna be nice though. Can't wait. :)
hm.. im debating whether the MGS LE is actually worth it.. $30 more for an art book?
That's not really bad at all for a hardcover art book of that size. If it were sold separately it wouldn't be much cheaper

There are a number of VG art books sold separately and almost all retail for over $30. Amazon does discount them however but they're still within the $25-30 price range

Here are some examples:

Art of Alice Madness Returns - Hardcover, 184 pgs, 34.99msrp, $22 on amazon
Valkyria Chronicels Design Archive - Softcover, 400 pgs, $49.99msrp, $27 on amazon
Okami Complete Works - Softcover, 288 pgs, $39.99msrp, $26 on amazon
The Art of Darksiders - Softcover, 288 pgs, $39.99msrp, $26 on amazon

I'm guessing the MGS HD artbook will be much rarer than any of those, so If you are a fan of the series you may regret missing out on it down the line.
Really want that MGS artbook. I already have the Zavvi steelbook preordered though. Don't want to double dip. Hmm....
I wish we got more steelbook love here :(

I already ordered 2 steelbook and going to order 3 USA LE
Where can you get a steelbook for MGS HD??? Europe only?
Yeah, and it was limited to 4000 copies... or so they led us to believe.
Where can you get a steelbook for MGS HD??? Europe only?
It is already sold out

I want the CE of MGS:HD and I have a feeling that the small amount of these that go to stores not as pre orders are not going to last long enough to get clearanced. Decision, decisions...

Anyone know if the camera is overhead or third person view for MGS 3 in the HD LE collection? I can't stand the overhead view when it was originally released for the ps2. I really want the artbook but kind of expensive. (a friend of mine said, just think of each game + artbook as $19.99 each).

Its gonna be the MGS 3 subsistence version, so its gonna have whatever camera that was. I only played the original MGS3 and thought that camera was fine.

Well I have no idea what to search for to make it show up then. Neither metal gear solid HD or metal gear solid hd collection collector bring it up in the results. Lame! Anyways, glad it's on there.

Subsistence lets you choose the player controlled camera or the regular Snake Eater camera.
Subsistence lets you choose the player controlled camera or the regular Snake Eater camera.
Thats great.

I was wondering though if the collection will have the Metal Gear 1 + 2(nes) since Subsistence had them? I'm guessing it won't.
I am nearly positive it's been confirmed that it does indeed have them
Pretty sure too, though sources say that here's what they won't have:

MGS2: No Boss Duel mode (boss rush mode where you consecutively fight bosses for a high score)

MGS3: No Boss Duel Mode, no Snake Vs Monkey/ape escape mini-games (since it's multi-plat they had to take it out of both versions)

on the bright side, Peace Walker will have co-op multiplayer (for those who didn't know). 2 for sneaking missions and 4 for boss fights, assuming it's the same as the PSP version in this sense.

I think 2 also still has all those VR Missions. This is such a huge value for all that you get. Even the CE is a good price because a high quality hardcover artbook alone would be worth $40+.
I am nearly positive it's been confirmed that it does indeed have them
It does yes. which is awesome. your getting 5 games then lol.

Here's a pic of the Tekken Hybrid LE. Comes with an Art book and Soundtrack for $59.99 ($20 more than the regular). The Box art is likely still pending

to be fair, the MGS collection art book is a "mini" comparing to the full sized books listed above. IMO, the US version of the CE I'd quite weak for that price. The three games cost 39.99 like every other HD collections, so....

edit, it does look like a fill sized book, there's an outer box...

has anyone figured out yet if the arkham city CE comes with an actual game case? it isn't shown in the picture, so i hope it isn't just a slide in at the front of the art book or under the statue...that would be a bummer

hmm not sure if this is worth getting. I want it but dont wanna pay 60 bucks only to have it drop to like

I am a huge MGS fan, and would have ordered the MGS Collection LE in a heartbeat, but the regular game is $50, not the regular $60 for a "new" game. First off, the collection itself is $10 above what other PS2 collections have been ($40), so it feels that Konami is already overcharging, but I'll bite the bullet since it has a PSP transfer on consoles and its Metal Gear. But now comes the LE and its $80 price, and thats a problem for me IMO.

So I ask myself, WHY charge that much?

The 'Limited Edition' will include a never before released 250 page premium art book showcasing the art of Metal Gear Solid. Good stuff right? But this LE is now $30 above the already regular edition which is at $50. Most LEs would include more than a book (even a huge 250 page book) to charge $20 more, let alone $30 more. I know the book alone would cost about the same or higher if sold separately, but once its included as part of a game package, there should be a sort of saving to the costumers. I'm probably just ranting here, I want the LE, but to spend $80 for a HD collection of games I've played before and only an art book, I'll keep my Amazon $49.99 with gold box discount order.

Forgive my rant, just seems unfair they raise the price on what has been standard $40 MSRP for HD collections and now they price the LE as if it where a new game's LE with a ton of extra stuff, which it doesn't have in my eyes.

I don't know their exact reasoning, but if I had to guess I'd say it's because they're including 3 games. Many of the HD collections out there only have 2 games for $39.99 (GOW/GOW Origins, ICO/SotC, etc..). Konami is also releasing the Silent Hill collection for $39.99 and that has only 2 games, so I think that might just be their line of thinking. Besides that, they also know that people will pay premium for MGS so that could be a factor for the increased pricing too.

This LE said will no doubt be hard to find down the line if it's like any other MGS LE set Konami has released, but I can't blame you for not wanting to bite at this price.

It's a full sized, 250-ish paged book, it's about as big as the art books mentioned, not as big as the VC one, but it's also $20 cheaper.
