You paranoid CAGs still gonna swear off Best Buy? FE fates SEs are shipping out AND they are giving everyone $20 for a mistaken email.
Seriously Best Buy is the best.
 
Best Buy always has extra copies at release even if its been long sold out or sold out in a day or whatever. You guys need to stop being so paranoid. They aren't one of the largest retailers for video games for nothing.
Complain about customer service all you want, but I'll take the $20.

I never said I would be swearing off BB. Even if they didn't provide a bonus $20 GC, then I'd still be OK since it did ship out. That just helps soothe a bad situation a bit more.

What I pointed out to the Exec CS rep I spoke with this morning is that it looked horrible to customers to get backorder notifications of online orders made the first day it was available, the item has pretty much been sold out since the first day of pre-order, then we see 2000 copies of the sold-out game that we're backordered on show up on eBay and sell out in less than an hour.

It makes it look like people's preorders were ending up on eBay and they may/may not get their pre-orders due to limited quantities. He agreed that it did look bad, they were already doing an internal investigation to what happened and he would follow up once things were cleared up. He did call me before I had seen that the email went out with the tracking number, so he was making a good effort to help out in the middle of this mess.

 
Any way to apply these coupons to existing preorders?

My dilemma is that I've already used a gift card on a preorder. Naturally, I'd like to cancel and reorder but I don't have that gift card anymore. How would I apply the value of the old gift card along with the coupon?

Wasn't directed towards anyone is particularly, just a response to the overreaction in general. I never believed there was any trouble whatsoever.

However it's good on you for contacting exec cs rep directly. May have get everyone $20 :)
 
Well my experiment to try changing my shipping speed didn't seem to help in the long run since my order still hasn't shipped haha. I can fully admit the $20 code is worth a couple extra days.

Guys check your orders form Best Buy that shipped.  Mine weighs in at 0.10 lbs...  Are they shipping out regular games instead of the special edition?

I think someone mentioned that for many companies they just get charged a certain amount for bulk shipping and then are invoiced the rest after the weight is actually known.

Best Buy thought ahead and are shipping you the regular games and the free $20 gift card was so you can buy the Revelation DLC.

Pretty much this, plus a regular 3ds game would still weigh 0.3 to 0.4 lbs. So it's still off.
 
Walmart phone order has shipped though I got no email about it and is still listed as processing on the site. Only learned it shipped from going on chat support to ask about the status
 
I noticed that it is UPS Next Day Air. It is scheduled for delivery Monday, but if it's Next Day Air, can I tell it to ship to a Customer Center and pick it up in person tomorrow?

Edit: Nevermind Customer Center is closed on Saturdays too.

Mine is schedule to arrive on Tuesday, and also got the $20 GC.

Arriving Tuesday isn't a big deal. Still working on Digimon, Gravity Rush, and SFV. But the $20 is definitely a bonus for me.

Until the package has been received by the shipper, the weight will not update until then.

I've run into this issue with some packages in the past before, and it corrects itself once it actually gets updated by UPS, or whoever is shipping the package for you.

 
My shipment has been received by UPS. Shipping via UPS Next Day Air. Is it possible to get this tomorrow somehow instead of Monday? Maybe send it to a UPS store instead of my home address?

Best Buy needs to step their game up now that Amazon is targeting gamers again with the 20% off. I haven't bought games outside of Best Buy for a while but fuck ups like this push me to Amazon (I don't get charged tax in my state.). Lucky for them Amazon is about as fucked up as Best Buy is with pre order delivery and how they package them (bubble mailers).

There was no fuck up and they gave everyone $20. I think they've beaten Amazon handily this round. Also im pretty sure Best Buy had this up for preorder much longer than Amazon did.

What are you talking about? A lot of people are Elite Plus and preordered within minutes of Best Buy opening up preorders months ago. There is no way those people should still be waiting for their orders to ship with no guarantee they will get there until mid to late next week. On top of that, Best Buy sold copies of the same game on Ebay and has already shipped some of those. That's clearly not how things are supposed to go and it's certainly not how Gamestop or even Amazon handled preorders for this exact same game. While the $20 gesture is nice, it doesn't explain how they botched this up so badly, nor does it get the game to people within the promised timeframe.

 
Best Buy actually ships their preorders before release date so 95% of their preorders arrive on or before release date so customers can play on that date.  I was fully expecting to play this weekend but now I'm going to have to wait until Tuesday.  Factor in the ebay crap and I think $20 is decent compensation for it all.  I still don't understand why there was a delay with shipping these out to customers before release date, like they usually do.  Other retailers seem to have gotten them from Nintendo on time.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I still haven't gotten my ship notice so for me it's still a mess until that happens
 
I got a shipment notice from my November order.  I guess the delay email was for the November pre order and not the Best buy Ebay order last night, which was canceled.  I did get a $20 gift card for the mix up, but nothing for the eBay fiasco..  I don't understand how Best Buy could make such bush league mistake selling 3000 copies when only 300 were available.  I feel bad for those who didn't get one, I hope there is a second wave of shipments.

Additionally, in-store pickup orders were totally fine, meaning it's not like they didn't get *any* on time.

 
Still pissed that Best Buy posted this stuff on eBay at Midnight when the freakin East Coast is asleep! I can't believe that they would do that!

Anyways, just waiting now for my Gamestop copy to arrive
