I am always skeptical of those big markup purchases the day after something is posted and sells out. I have a feeling most of them end up never being paid or are refunded down the road. While I don't think this will get cheaper than MSRP, I also don't doubt that more copies will be made available, especially given how many people I have seen on other sites indicate they aren't sure they will keep their preorder and/or accidentally ordered multiples because the website kept crashing.

Some will be cancelled and presumably relisted, but I'd guess that number is smaller than the number of people who missed pre-orders all together given it went from announced to sold out in ~2 hours.

I think GBASTAR meant the prices will eventually come down. Which has been the case with every rare CE after release. But I can see this thing holding firm at no less than $500 sealed easily in the long term. Just in the last year I've seen people pay crazy prices for some of the CEs. Not to mention how expensive some of the playart's kai figures are now like Quiet from MGS V. I also think GBAstar vastly underestimated the amount of crazy Final Fantasy fans there are out there (it's alot more than 30,000 people worldwide). Also Final Fantasy has never had a CE of this magnitude. It's always been a soundtrack or artbook add on for $20 to $30 more like the deluxe edition.

As a FF fan, I'm kind of worried about CEs for the FF7 remake. Will each episodic release have some giga behemoth $300 edition?

Seem like FFXV DE is not rare.  I sure the publisher will flooding DE version.  I pass on DE version will waits till it drop down $30 or less :)

 
Play Arts Kai are very high quality figures.. The pricing on the CE seems more than fair especially with that giant artbook but damn I missed out.

 
I would have loved a PAK-only edition, for $160 or even $180 that would be more than fair.  Core game + figure and maybe some exclusive reversible artwork.  I can live without all the other extras, so as cool as it is, for $280 I'll have to pass (I know it's sold out anyway so it's not up to me).

 
I contemplated it. If it was sub $200 I'd be all over but I feel the price + the items included I'm just not feeling it. Same with the No Man's Sky PC CE at $150, just completely killed my buzz. The artbook though I'm going to cry about very soon once some pages leak. 296 pages? JESUS. I'm a big lore person so it can't all be 100% CGI shots. Must have some heavy back stories on a couple of characters, hell maybe even a huge monster encyclopedia. .... 

sigh okay I'm regretting it now. 

 
I read on neogaf that EBgames in Australia is only getting 80 Ultimate edition available for preorder and that they will be doing a lottery to preorder it.

 
Damn 270 + tax. That's a lot of money for sure, and even still I'm sad I missed out on it. I kinda told myself that whenever 15 gets a release date I will buy the CE whatever msrp it's at
 
Remember FF8 figures? You had to buy like every GF to get Ragnarok. If FF7 is in pieces, maybe it'll be similar. Though Highwind isn't as cool as Ragnarok.
 
Starting to get a bit worried for my order. No email yet and, while I did see a confirmation screen at the end, I forgot to screencap it so I don't even have a confirmation number of any kind. I have a .50 charge on my credit card but that's it.

The wait is killing me! I keep checking my phone on every email notification!

I didn't get my confirmation email till about 11 hours later (for xbox one). So idk if that helps your fears or not

 
Not sure why anyone buys any of SE Play Arts Kai figures, they started out 39.99 - 49.99 for a long time when they first started coming out and Square Enix has steadily gouged them up $10 at a time to a standard $100 a pop with no improvement in quality or increase to what you actually get. They tend to have particularly shoddy paint jobs and feel very cheaply made most of the time. Not even close to scale figure quality either that you could actually get for that price point.

In fact, the only reason why they have their UCE priced at $270 bucks is becuase they force fed a $100 PAK figure into it, otherwise it would be under $200 where most peoples price point is.

Lol, not at all, it would have sold out the same rate at 170 just as it did at 270 because people had no choice but to buy it with the included figure for the game and the other content, I'm sure most of the people who bought the UCE couldn't care less if the PAK figure was in it or not, they just had no choice. I'm just saying how generally shitty & overpriced those figures are so Square force fed them into this extremely hot release to sell 30,000 more. Cheap tactic.

Think about it, & unless you actually own a PAK figure and have an opposite opinion about the actual figures, stfu.

The $40-$50 Play Arts figures were a lot shorter and less detailed. Compare the Play Arts Advent Children Cloud to the Play Arts Kai version. The PAK is significantly improved (although a lot more expensive).

The price of the Noctis figure is comparable to other PAK releases.

I've seen the older PAK figures and I agree there has been a vast improvement in design on newer figures. Except Spider-man...wasn't a big fan tbh

 
Got a deluxe (PS4) locked in on Amazon, and will be taking over my friends CE (PS4) since he wants to cancel now. I like the steelbook in the deluxe much better but I also like the idea of having a steelbook for the movie as well. If anyone interested in the other steelbook w/game & the figure I'll be willing to let it go.

Don't you get both steel books with the CE? Or are there 3 steel books?
 
Well, played the demo and it was underwhelming. Didn't feel like a demo and more like going through a theme park a year before it's open. I see that a lot needs to be tweaked like the camera angles, trigger timing (felt off) and what was up with the graphics. It looked dated compared to other gameplay footage. idk, still excited but don't think it's justified as a demo.
 
Guess I take that back. Went back and decided to unlock all I could. Unlocked 4 magic spells, another weapon and played as 2 other 'characters' (you'll know if you got to unlock it). Got a better handle on the battle system and it shows promise. Much more excited for more now.

I didnt like final fantasy 13 because of those reasons, and because it was a trilogy which drug it out more. 14 was an mmo which I didnt want. Explorers was ok, but it was shallow and felt like a poor mans monster hunter. 0 was just a remaster of a decent psp game that wasnt actually made any better. I just want a good final fantasy game, and I am hoping this will be one since the last bunch of final fantasy games let me down.

Thats like me buying a new toyota prius and saying I hope this years new model is good, and someone saying "it has four wheels and goes forward, if you think of it like that then youll be fine". If all I wanted was four wheels and goes forward I could easily just buy a used ford pinto that still runs.

Fear not, this isn't an RPG, it's an action game. Square doesn't make proper mainline final fatnasy turn based JRPGs anymore.

It's not turn-based, but it's still much more an RPG than it is an action game. Any game that lets you dodge enemy attacks continuously by simply holding down a button without having to use the D-pad or a stick is not a full-fledged action game in my book.
 
I'm excited for the release of FF 15 so we can see the 300 posts in one day when the panic sets in because everyones collectors edition hasn't shipped yet then the same amount the next day when the shipping confirmations finally hit.

I disagree. it's an action game with some light RPG elements shoehorned in, like kingdom hearts, to appease the kids and western tastes. Final Fantasy essentially was the japanese console attempt, along with dragon quest/warrior at simulating the tabletop experience. That certainly has evolved, but now that they abandoned the turn based combat system, it's simply an action game at this point. It looks more like metal gear and gta with some witcher sprinkled in, than it even remotely resembles a final fantasy game. Nothing wrong with variety, but this series didn't need to be changed so completely as to change it's foundational genre. But that's what the kiddies love now. A shame.

It looks more like metal gear and gta with some witcher sprinkled in, than it even remotely resembles a final fantasy game. Nothing wrong with variety, but this series didn't need to be changed so completely as to change it's foundational genre. But that's what the kiddies love now. A shame.

I didnt like final fantasy 13 because of those reasons, and because it was a trilogy which drug it out more. 14 was an mmo which I didnt want. Explorers was ok, but it was shallow and felt like a poor mans monster hunter. 0 was just a remaster of a decent psp game that wasnt actually made any better. I just want a good final fantasy game, and I am hoping this will be one since the last bunch of final fantasy games let me down.

Thats like me buying a new toyota prius and saying I hope this years new model is good, and someone saying "it has four wheels and goes forward, if you think of it like that then youll be fine". If all I wanted was four wheels and goes forward I could easily just buy a used ford pinto that still runs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting the quality of the game itself. I assume the story and the VA and the cinematics will be top notch, and a small part of me hopes that S-E has come to their senses with what they are doing to the FF franchise, but I think we all know it's foolish to waste time thinking this game will be like the games of yore. This will probably be in the same vein as the FFXIII series.

I guess I have time to actually play the demos, and if it looks like it's something I can get in to I'll keep my PO.
