It's the same statue. 40cm or 15.75"

Gamestop is rounding it to 16"
Oh ok, still this thing seem like it should be priced at around $250 to $275 as opposed to $399. As people said it was $390 in EU for the entire prestige edition which also includes everything from the collectors edition. Makes me wonder if Namco/Bandai set the price or Gamestop.

It's overpriced, but not quite to the level you're calculating. 390 Euros in still around $445. So this statue and the CE would run $530 if you bought it from Gamestop. They probably could have gone $325 for the statue. I couldn't care less about the statue, but I'm glad people who missed the very limited Prestige have this opportunity if they so choose.

I imagine he meant 390 USD

I'm curious about this. So I have 2 of the CE's for FF15 pre ordered. If I was to sell one EBay, what protection is there for the seller? Couldn't someone just say they were delivered a box of rocks and they get their money back? I have bought from eBay for years but maybe only sold 2 smaller items in 15+ years. I am thinking I would just sell the extra on Craigslist and meet at a safe place, keep the extra one sealed, or sell to one of my CAG friends I play The Division with at cost who didn't get a pre order in (none have stated interest in it so far)
When I sell, I always do signature confirmation. It costs a tiny bit more but well worth it. Can save your ass. I also restrict bidding to verified bidders with high ratings.

Signature confirmation doesn't protect one from saying they sent a box of rocks. It can protect against one saying they didn't get it, but in that regard, mere tracking information will suffice.

I don't know, the UK price was 300 pounds which was roughly $450 up until the last month or so when the pound has tanked bringing it closer to $425 US.
Being in the US the VAT comes off at checkout. It was 249.99 GBP + S&H which came to ~$389 after conversion.

Since this hasn't brought up yet, SE just made this announcement regarding FF XV UCE on today stream:

  • SE originally intended on limit these to 2 per account, but website issues caused them to not be able to set the limit.
  • Any account with more than 2 orders will have orders canceled. And possible other repercussions (possibly account ban)
  • Canceled orders will go to people on waitlist (starting with priority waitlist)
  • No more UCEs will be produced, 30k was the limit.

Still feel like 2 per account is really high, especially when its limited to 30k.

Either way I'm glad they aren't making more, otherwise I would have cancelled mine and just went with the Deluxe.

This pretty much proves they literally cannot make anymore, otherwise you know they would've increased production.

Seems fair. I'm glad they are not making more. Thanks for the info!

LOL... people getting their account banned would be freaking hilarious. Kind of a dick move, because they didn't set a limit, but I'm sorry, the amount of drama and butt hurt tears it would cause would make for excellent entertainment.

To be fair, theres like no reason anyone would need to order more than 2 of these.

Hey I had to get 1 for my brother, cousin, uncle, aunt, roommate, girlfriend, 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin, great uncle, best friends sister, and that neighbor you want to suck up to so he'll watch your house when you're away. There I just justified my 12 orders :)

people glad they arent making more is kinda odd, I get you want it to be valuable but shouldn't you order it because you want the content of it

Welp if that SE information holds prices in the secondary market will continue their upward trend.

I ain't got a problem with that!

Most people on here are afraid of overproduced CEs, especially if it's a CE that costs an arm and a leg, it has nothing to do with whether you like the contents or not. Look at Dark Souls 3 CE. How many people on here already said they want it but is afraid to pull the trigger cause they don't want a situation where they pay $130 now only to see it on sale for $70 a few months from now. Same with the Tales of Zestiria CE, several on here are pissed off that it's now on sale for $69.99 just 6 months afterwards. Doesn't mean they don't like the contents that's in it. Since this FF XV CE costs $270. It's even more kick in the nuts if SE suddenly decides to overproduce it.

Ideally. It's such a weird stance. If one isn't going to sell it, who cares exactly how rare it is? And if you only want an item because it's rare and they produce more making it not rare, then just cancel your order. If a person only wanted it because it's rare in the first place, and didn't care about its contents, then they should have no problem cancelling the order if it's no longer rare. Letting someone else get it who is interested in the contents.

It comes down to not wanting to get ripped off by an overproduced item, just like Cloud said.

If this thing was still in stock weeks before release, I'd probably just get the Deluxe and weigh my chances on an eventual sale. I'm sure basically every long time member here has been burned on atleast one CE or expensive item that just went on sale super fast.

Well, unless by "possibly producing more" they meant like 200,000 more, it would never be overproduced. A game of this kinda hype, with exclusive CE items, in one of the most popular RPG franchises ever that has a mass die-hard following? It would take a very very large quantity for it not to sell out long before release. A number way higher than 30k.

Now, it turns out they won't be making more, but if they did, I would assume it would be like 10k at most, and those would be gone in an hour when they went up for sale online, if not minutes.

Sad that I missed those at that price. Mostly interested in the figure from 1, the stuff from 2 and ToZ looks meh, but I like that steelbook from ToZ.

Maybe I was wrong and it was just from the old price drop on the X1? Haven't paid much attention to Xbox anything lately, sorry.
XBox One's, outside of Elite bundle, are $50 off this month.

Some of us want a CE to be limited to help justify spending MSRP, not because we plan to sell it. Overproduced CEs become the often-mentioned Dark Souls II that could be had for much cheaper.

For something that valuable, I'd go the extra mile--take multiple pictures of the CE before packing it up and with the mailing label attached to the shipping box, enforce Signature Confirmation so the buyer can't claim they never received it, and pray that he/she doesn't file a claim.
I understand all the worrying, but i have sold over 1000 items on ebay, atleast 40 of them for over $1000 and have never had a claim filed against me, again just my experiance.

It's probably less likely that you'll have buyers try to scam you if you're an established seller with thousands of feedback.

The way I see it, is putting down the kind of money you normally do for a Collector's Edition is basically an investment (especially something like $270). I am thrilled to get everything that comes with it (the anime, movie, statue) but I want to protect my investment. I have no idea if I will ever sell it. But that's what most collectors go through. They collect for a long time and sometimes, they do sell (and then maybe buy a vacation home in Hawaii). So the more value something holds or gains, the better! =)

While not technically CE related, I figure this crowd can appreciate this question more than most.  Has anyone seen the avatar gear for preordering FFXV on Xbox One or a screenshot of the PS4 theme?  I've always been a sucker for avatar gear on Xbox but I already have the UCE and DE on preorder.  Preordering digital just to get the avatar gear is crazy (but not out of the realm of my stupidity).

Has anyone seen or heard anything more about these items?

Having a 100% positive seller rating prevents people from claiming you sent rocks. Ultimately s a "tie" goes to the seller. I sold a zero escape watch to some guy in Europe once, he claimed the watch was all scratched up when it arrives and demanded a refund and opened a claim. I provided eBay with tons of pictures which clearly showed the face of the watch was in perfect condition. EBay basically told the guy to F off after that.

Which is why you always take lots of pictures of any big/expensive/or both CE you're selling to prevent bullshit like that from happening.

Honesly, If your looking at special edition games as investments, then you need some serious help in the world of investments. The VAST majority of special editions actually go down in value, some significantly so, after they have hit the market, especially if you actually open them up. Very few actually rise over the MSRP. Buy games for the enjoyment of the game and buy special editions for the extra items you get with them. As for investments, try actually Investing in a market that can actually give you a return on your money. The special edition market has to be one of the single worst places one could invest money. Of course, people are entitled to spend thier money where they see fit so if you really want to invest your money into special editions....well, that is certainly your right and nobody can stop you. Its just one of the riskiest investments one could make. Chances are you will lose more times than you win.

Again, buy games for the enjoyment of the game and buy special edition for the enjoyment of the extra items. Keep investing out of it and you should be a very happy gamer. Turning SE's into investments is a very easy way to lose money. Precious metals are at pretty low prices, try putting some money into those if you want a legitmate investment. If you buy small amounts on a regular basis, before long you will have a pretty sizable investment. And its one that actually has the potential to make you some money.

I don't think most people expect to make a profit out of these CEs in the long run. But a rare CE does retain it's value in the long run as opposed to an overproduced CE. So you do get everything you originally paid for back if you decided to get rid of a rare CE that you don't want anymore vs a overproduced CE where you likely lost 50% or more of what you originally paid for. You basically get to play the game for free and keep the contents for a few years when it comes to rarer CEs we've seen tons of examples of this.(Last of Us, No Ni Kuni, Diablo III). Heck even Fallout 3 lunchbox CEs which wasn't rare in the beginning but eventually became scarce fetch close to msrp for opened ones in good condition.
