Actually its smart. Online only game. Might as well release ahead of servers going live so you can install and update and be ready to go.

And as pointed out. They go live tonight at 7pm EST

 
It's so businesses don't need to hold a midnight release and everyone can start playing soon as servers go up. It's a courtesy to players and retailers for what they expect to be a big release.

No, I don't collect movies.. just stream them online

Measurements wise is slightly under 7" height & slightly under 5 1/2" width.

 
Just a heads up for anyone who might be in a similar situation (this is for PC):

According to someone on reddit who spoke with Blizz customer service, the Collector's Edition and Origins Editions include the same digital items but are flagged as either Collector's Edition or Origins Edition on your account (not sure why they bothered with a difference). 

I already have my Origins edition I'll be redeeming to play tonight but my CE won't be here for a couple days and I'll be selling the game code to a friend. I was wondering if it was worth waiting for the CE and redeeming that code and selling my Origins key to my friend, but if there's no difference aside from the actual account title there's no point.

 
Do all the CE goodies from the Overwatch CE apply to ALL Blizzard games?

For example, I bought the PS4 Overwatch CE, would the digital items I got apply to my PC copy of Diablo 3?

I got it reduced to 76.00 after I asked them that this order did not have the prime discount and they applied it in total it came out to $82 so for a CE its not bad at all

I'd prefer no tax and slower shipping

I'm really not sure how it got here so fast. I'm in central Illinois and it shipped out of Wisconsin. It's being delivered by USPS (and not the Mail Innovations thing with UPS). The whole thing is surprising.

Judging by pictures & unboxing a of PS4 version it looks like G2 to me.

If you want to be sure, ask someone to measure it.

It's not 2014 anymore. Thief launched four months after the PS4 did in Feb. '14. Elder Scrolls Online was in development hell and was also supposed to be out in '14 i.e. the materials were ordered then.

All PS4 and XB1 games with steelbooks are G2 size these days. It has also been confirmed in youtube videos for a couple weeks that the console versions are G2 sized.

So once again, the only remaining question is what size is the Overwatch - PC steelbook?

That's good to know. I need to figure out, pretty quickly, if I even still want this. It was originally an impulse trigger pull but even "limited to 5000 in NA" it's still available for preorder, so I'm feeling pre-order-remorse methinks.

 
Just got mine from Best Buy.

Plate is about the size of a license plate.  SURPRISINGLY Best Buy shipped the plate in a box with air packets.  I was in utter disbelief.  The game box was shipped in its original shipping box from Blizzard, with the Street Date label on it.  It weighs about 13 pounds I would say.  Very hefty.

UPS is known to fuck up on shipping info. I had received a pre-order bonus for an item a couple months back, can't remember what it was. It was labeled as 11.0 lbs and weighed about 4oz.

This concerns me...

I have the X1 version digitally and had the PC CE coming. I cancelled the PC CE however when the deal sprouted up on Amazon to get the console ones for only $75 and decided to sell the X1 game and steelbook to recoup the loss from buying just the PC Origin Edition on Amazon.

It very well could just be a way of tracking for them but really if that means in the future they may get bonus stuff for being CE owners that really pisses me off because I had that version but had to do some flip flopping for a deal....

Ugh wtf.

 
Oh my god this Overwatch CE is so damn amazing. You can tell they put their hearts into it and didn't halfass it. Even the Soldier 76 statue (Though not my favorite character), feels really high quality. And of course the artbook is sexy as all hell.

Feels good to have gotten it for barely $80 thanks to Amazon.

 
I am pretty impressed with the Overwatch CE. Haven't opened the statue but the box is very nice. How do I tell if the steelbook is G1 or G2 like people are asking? I have the PC version.

Edit: it's the same size as my XB1 and PS4 steelbooks so I guess G2?

You must be new to Blizzard games. They always flag on your account what edition you purchased. It doesn't do anything extra later on though. So don't worry about future items and such.

Thanks! Yeah I just double checked with customer support to be sure and they said the same earlier. I am by no means new to Blizzard games hah I just never have gotten a Blizzard CE before. Granted I own every Blizzard Artbook, I just always get them on the grey market : P

Square Enix would disagree with you. :) They had 3 G1 sized Target exclusives in 2013/14, but Just Cause 3 was Target exclusive & correctly sized though.
 
I don't collect steelbooks at all.. what is the difference between G1 and G2 and which is preferred?

That being said I will have an extra PC Steelbook available.

To answer your second question, most prefer G2. I assume this is because most SteelBooks are blu-rays, so people like the collection to look uniform.
 
Lurker here... Just want to give you all a heads up that best buy may or may not have CoD blackops 3 juggernog edition. COMPLETELY YMMV! Not a true bargain but considering exorbanant prices on ebay and amazon.

Edit: Only one my store had was xbone, 160 with gcu.

I apologize in advance if YDMV deals aren't okay here. But, when I went into bestbuy today to pick up my copy of overwatch. I noticed they had the collectors editions of several guide books on clearance for $0.01

I got two copies of Halo 5 CE and 1 copy of Assassins Creed Syndicate CE. They wouldn't ring up the kid told me since they weren't  ringing up he couldn't to sell it to me. Gave me some sh*t story about how maybe that's just a place holder and they might be using them in some bundle blah blah blah. I told him that their listed on the shelf for $0.01 and then I spoke to the manager and she just let me take them. Not a bad deal for free though I was more than happy to pay the $0.03 lol.

I'm really impressed with the art book. I was not expecting that much text. The slipcover is a nice touch too.

Was able to get another ordered. Best Buy rep told me that when I receive the new one, just return the old one with the most recent order. Problem solved.
