FAQ:
  • What is this thread? A massive collection of limited edition games & other attributing items, included with links.
  • Why put it all in one thread? More traffic due to collaborating interests.
  • Why is that important? This keeps the thread popular and doesn't risk a failed CE from falling through the cracks unnoticed.
  • What can be discussed here? Anything relevant to what is posted.
  • Why make another CE compilation when 2017 isn't over yet? Karma.
  • Where are the big pictures? Still here, scroll down. Due to the increased number of CEs, a preface post is needed.
  • When is the Ni No Kuni 2 CE coming out? Not announced. Granted, IF it does, you can bet I will devote an entire page to it.  Announced. Holy jumping pilgrims, no entire page though.
  • What about other CEs that have been announced? Give me a minute. It takes a bit of time to format the title, price, date, & retailer links in correctly.

Legend:
  • (OOS) = Out of Stock
  • CE = Collector's Edition Game
  • Book = Strategy Guide, Art Book, and/or Lore Book
  • SB = Steelbook
  • Anything linked means it exists. If not it hasn't been announced yet.

So I picked up a Mass Effect Andromeda CE edition from BB for 39.99. Thought that at that price it was a no brainer to buy it. Feel sorry for those that bought it at full price. Glad I waited. Seems EA and Ubisoft CE’s are better to wait for lower prices.
Was this the die cast model or was this the RC car? I found both in my BB and the Die Cast was 44.xx ad the RC was 149.xx

If the RC, how'd you swing getting it so much lower than the advertised price?

The 25th Ward: The Silver Case LE bundle sold out in a few days I believe. Passed on that since I'm hoping The 25th Ward LE eventually gets sold by itself.
If Amazon actually fulfills the 29.99 orders of 25th Ward LE they have up right now you can recreate this bundle for cheaper than NIS originally had it listed. They have a few copies of Silver Case LE still available for 49.99 here: https://store.nisamerica.com/games/silver-case

This is a $10 savings IIRC from the NIS bundle.

Finally able to checkout at BB with the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 SE. the game case and artwork on the box look great.

thanks to amazon for notifying me if a concrete date for my preorder, which I will now cancel... heh

I already had the LE of the first one, which is one of the reasons I passed up on the bundle, but yeah the Amazon mistake on the new one would be a sweet deal if honored. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyone remember if price of Mithril Edition changed or something? It's showing $299.99 but my preorder I'm about to cancel is $269.99 and I don't remember why. Not even sure why I pre-ordered this, I hate green and brown 90% gamma washed out Western games anyway and don't really want another house sized Titanfall box.

Finally got around to gamestop to cancel my Mithril preorder. That unboxing showing that statue killed it for me.... and apparently everyone else that had it preordered there lol. The guy told me in the last two weeks every preorder that store had for that edition got cancelled. (9 total). He said everyone stated it was because of the statue. That’s so sad..... I can’t understand why they made such an ugly statue and charged $200 for it.

Are you talking about the PAL version??? The US ones from Gamestop was always $299.99. But for some reason my PAL preorder from Amazon UK only shows $232. But if I did a mock order today it's showing $290. Maybe they had a price mistake earlier thus year when I preordered. Still debating whether to keep it or not.

Maybe it's just the Rose Colored Glasses of Tolkien + 1 that I have equipped, but that statue, or the whole CE for that matter, doesn't look bad at all.  It's certainly doesn't look as bad as the Skyrim dragon CE at a glance.  $300 bad...maybe, but I'll keep mine.

FF4 for me has always been the gold standard for JRPGs.  Just pure classical story telling and character development with no bloat, no mini games, no millions of side quests or convoluted customization to distract you from the story (usually because the story sucks in modern games because they put 99% of their budget into graphics), no "filler".  Just pure Shakespeare like classical story and journey of good vs evil, redemption, sacrifice, betrayal, destiny, save the world kind of stuff.  Simple and effective. Modern JRPGs try too hard to do something new or different and it's really not what JRPG fans care about.  We just want unforgettable stories, endearing characters, emotionally stirring music and breathtaking scenic landscapes.  The 16 bit RPGs, esp with SNES' wavetable sound, were just the right level of technology to allow this to occur while providing enough restrictions to keep devs from getting carried away with nonsense.

4-6 were always my favorites in the series, atleast until 10, 12, and 14.

Seems most people hate 5, but 5 felt like it was more self aware about not being a super serious game and focused on the Job system and skill mastery more.

1 was okay to me, I never could get into 2, and I hated the combat system in 3 (Nothing like getting hit 4+ times in a row by a boss and having a character get insta-ko'd before even being able to make a move)

Looks like the same as the one from E3.
Yea the same one I bought on Ebay for under $50. :error: thank goodness for those flash sale coupons.

I wonder how low the price will crater. Prolly not too low, maybe ~$30ish. Good news for steelbook collectors that didn't buy on the first round though. Better prepare to pick one up within the next week if you want one.

Lol, same here. Haven't looked to see if the E3 version has disappeared off Ebay. Thing is I like the official SB coming in the CE too so I'll have to decide if I want to keep the E3 one. Hopefully I'll get what I paid for it if I end up selling it again.

Best Buy changed their order history format on their website and it's really bad. It no longer organizes by date ordered, sometimes the same orders repeat more than once, you can't sort by open orders only. It's just a total mess.

i agree...it's fucking terrible

I posted on the unboxed forum, please comment on this and let's see if we can get those jackholes to fix it.

Not only that but the dates listed are messed up too. For example my open order from the Visa Checkout promo from way back in February is showing an 8/30/17 order date. How in the hell does that make any sense?

Also, all my Rewards over the last two weeks of purchases are not showing up in Pending status on my Rewards history page. They are not showing up at all (usually they show up as pending points the next day after purchase). In fact, my total pending points are now zero despite several purchases over the last two weeks.

I wonder if these two issues are related since they both happened around the same time.

Is anyone getting Dissidia Ultimate edition through Square?
I ordered it incase it ended up being rare. I really loved the shit out of the beta and can't wait for the full game, but I'm like 90% sure I'm gonna cancel before launch. I really just want the Artbook as all of the artbooks in the Square Enix CE's have been super high quality.

When release dates etc. get updated, the order gets bumped up. I specifically said most recent activity, not purchase. At least, that's how it looks like it's working for me.

I'm gonna go ahead and get it. The price isn't any different then Nier and look at that now.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to and don't compare with nier.
Look at all collector edition of final fantasy games. They always tend to go average priced or less on eBay later on. Only exceptions is like world of final fantasy collector edition since it was original with a pop up book. Still don't know why nier is so expensive now though

I think nier is expensive because it was a niche title that no-one expected to do well. It ended up doing very well and selling many copies thus people wanted the ce. It's similar to last of us post pandemic and it's value directly linked to how amazing last of us is as a game. (Though last of us is way more expensive than nier)

Yeah, this happens more often than not with new IP's, as Dead Space CE for the 360 is another fine example. I bought it after seeing the game and thinking it looked cool, once it was released to rave reviews, those handful of CE went up like crazy. It was also exclusive to the 360.

Most long standing CE get produced in greater numbers due to the audience being larger, so often those are just over produced(or unwanted). With almost any new IP, they never over produce, as they have no idea how many people may be interested.

I bought several 999 watches from Aksys right at launch for free, as they where give away bonuses at retail, and nobody preordered, so they offered them on their site. I bought several with only shipping being a charge(under $5 I think). Within a few weeks, as the game got more and more positive reviews, the watches went away, and went up crazy in value.

I could give many examples of this happening for CE guides and art books as well. It's just how things work in regards to gaming. Nothing new really.
