FAQ:
  • What is this thread? A massive collection of limited edition games & other attributing items, included with links.
  • Why put it all in one thread? More traffic due to collaborating interests.
  • Why is that important? This keeps the thread popular and doesn't risk a failed CE from falling through the cracks unnoticed.
  • What can be discussed here? Anything relevant to what is posted.
  • Why make another CE compilation when 2017 isn't over yet? Karma.
  • Where are the big pictures? Still here, scroll down. Due to the increased number of CEs, a preface post is needed.
  • When is the Ni No Kuni 2 CE coming out? Not announced. Granted, IF it does, you can bet I will devote an entire page to it.  Announced. Holy jumping pilgrims, no entire page though.
  • What about other CEs that have been announced? Give me a minute. It takes a bit of time to format the title, price, date, & retailer links in correctly.

Legend:
  • (OOS) = Out of Stock
  • CE = Collector's Edition Game
  • Book = Strategy Guide, Art Book, and/or Lore Book
  • SB = Steelbook
  • Anything linked means it exists. If not it hasn't been announced yet.

Elex and Biomutant CE's may be Amazon-exclusive as I have not seen them listed at the standard US retailers such as Gamestop and Best Buy.  Looks like Elex may also be available at Play-Asia.  Has there been an official announcement about these being Amazon-exclusive in the US?

Surprised the Retro City Rampage™ DX • Switch Standard Edition sold out already. They weren't numbered or given a limited release like they note for other games that I can find. Had to get the CE, that one says its limited but it's still available.

Holy crap I didn't realize people were self publishing Switch games

Wow, Amazon Customer Service, and Amazon.com for that matter is really losing a lot of their Goodwill.

Today I noticed that Destiny 2 CE had a price drop to $219, so I contacted Amazon CS thru chat to see the viability of a Credit, as my order is still in the return window.  But they would rather issue a return label, wait to receive my return, issue me a refund and then send out another product after I re-order it.

I explained thru chat that this would be a hassle and less cost effective for them than just issuing a $30 credit but they wouldn't budge.  "It's usually not our policy to issue credits."  she refused to pass me along to their supervisor.  So I selected Option 3...Return the item.

If they'd rather lose the sale, then its on them.  Not that one order makes much of a difference.  Maybe it's a blessing in disguise...if it's $219 now, can $99 from Best Buy be that far off?

Looks like VBlank is doing a reprint of Retro City Rampage Collectors editions already just like before. Not so limited. They also said they "may" make more standard copies....there is no way Nintendo would only allow them to make 400 copies of standard and keep reprinting collector editions. This is shady.

This just got added to their store page:

"A Smaller Number of "2nd Change" Limited Collector's Editions will be made available once they're in stock."

You guys should really learn to just buy from BB instead of dealing with Scamazon. BB would have issued the difference no questions asked if there was a price drop online; could have even done it via chat or phone without even setting foot in a store.

It was always there. They’re not ordering 3,000 copies, they’re ordering more and selling the extras from the single order.

Amazon has not done price adjustments as a policy for literally years now. In the rare instances that they will do them, they count them as a goodwill charge against your account and if you get too many of them, they will eventually ban you. I personally don't agree with the banning, but in fairness, they also don't do price adjustments after sale, so it's not really the fault of the customer service person. Also, Best Buy has been sold out of the Destiny 2 CE for a while now. Your only hope will be further price reductions on Amazon or Gamestop.

While I generally agree with this, BB is by no means smooth at price matching. In my experience more than half the BB reps still don't understand GCU. This is especially true if you say try to price match something on sale at BB with a lower GCU price than originally paid but has a base sale price higher than the orig. GCU price. Usually have 1-2 reps that tell me they can't price match because I already paid less. BB reps also seem terrible at math and usually don't give me the correct price match (though often this works in my favor).

I am not following. They have done 400 copies of standard and 3000 copies of collector editions. I don't remember that message being on their site until everything sold out.

I never saw those numbers before hand either, but I don't have an issue either way.

So 3400 was the total produced then? So how is it LRG can't get any games made when I'm sure any title they offer would be at least that much in qty, if not more? Is this "N" playing nice with some, and not for others? I'm not seeing how resources can't be used for a smaller run, if 3400 is all VBlank had produced. Am I missing something here?

From RCR’s Twitter page:

“ 3000 CE go up for pre-order 9am PT Mon. @ (link: http://vblank.com) vblank.com. A smaller number of 2nd chance copies will be available when in stock. “

So apparently the CE is limited to 3000 units with a smaller 2nd chance restock to follow.

I’m curious to know the production numbers on the standard version??

Glad to hear the standard version does include the instruction manual as I’ll be going for that version.

There is a couple points that I am getting at here.

1. Nintendo generally has a minimum amount needed to do a print run. This has always been Limited Run Games issue for Nintendo stuff.

2. They only made 400 copies of standard and decided to word it as they "may" make more.

3. The Limited Collectors edition is already sounding like a reprint is in the work after selling 3000.

I stand corrected. Never noticed that.

Well, "N" told LRG that they wouldn't be able to produce anything for them currently, as they need the resources for bigger runs of games, which if these numbers are accurate, their statement was complete and utter BS. As any LRG NS release I would assume would be at least 3500, otherwise why bother?

If this is the case, what they told LRG was a brush off as I thought it was from the beginning, as if they wanted to allow for a smaller run they could(as seen here). Brian has a long running relationship with them, so I can understand dealing with him over LRG.

But honestly, looking at retail shelves of NS games, there is barely any games out in physical form to begin with, so I personally always saw their statement as "Don't call us, we'll call you " type of deal. And what I'm seeing here pretty much confirms what I thought.

I think price adjustment post purchase has been explcitly removed from official policy. So you were asking the CS to do something against policy. This policy change has been in place long ago, dont know how you missed that.

Yeah, I've seen it posted here many times that they stopped the matching awhile back, but I actually requested one about 6 months ago before I knew, and they did it no questions asked. So I agree, the CS rep was probably doing what was policy to follow and nothing more. I'm no fan of Amazon, but their CS is still pretty good overall, at least for the issues I've had in recent times.

While this is true for the price adjustments, wouldn't it make sense for them to just make the adjustment, instead of issuing a return label, waiting for my return, and then issuing the refund while at the same time I place a new order at the lower price and have to ship out another product?

Policy may be policy, but it doesn't make sense. Just my $.02

Most people don’t want to deal with ordering a new one and sending the old one back, so they let it go and Amazon gets to keep the extra money.

I would say no because they already have your money, and there is technically no guarantee that you would actually return it from their perspective.

You're not wrong. But try to see things beyond the "me me me" perspective. They don't do price adjustments for many obvious reasons. It's been that way for years now. Their prices are changing and dropping all the time. Amazon isn't in the business of offering you the best possible prices in a 30day window; they offer competitive prices from the start. If you shop on Amazon anything more than sporadically then you should be familiar with the way they operate.

Most people don’t want to deal with ordering a new one and sending the old one back, so they let it go and Amazon gets to keep the extra money.
That was my thinking as well. But that not me, lol.

I would say no because they already have your money, and there is technically no guarantee that you would actually return it from their perspective.
I guess. Package is ready to go back, and my money will be mine again. Im sure they wont miss it, lol.

Don't you have to pay return shipping though? The only time return shipping is free is if the item is damaged or the wrong item, etc...

I get it...Maybe I'm getting too old for this. Many of us remember Amazon when they were very customer focused. They would go above and beyond the normal e-tailer and many retailers for sales, selection and customer service. That's why I'd always patronize them. Then they became THE major player in the marketplace, and stripped many of those benefits to the point were they lost me for everything but the most unobtainable items.

Enough waxing nostalgic...GET OFF MY LAWN!

Send it back and buy another if it bugs you enough.  Do this enough times and they'll ban you eventually for being an unprofitable customer.

I'm not sure how someone has an unopened Destiny 2 CE five weeks after launch, either, or why you paid $250 for it.  I bet you already opened it and are having buyer's remorse.  Remember, it was worth it for you to buy it when it was $250.  So it's whatever.  Amazon has done nothing wrong.  Return it if you want.  Pay the return shipping if you don't want a strike against your account.

Not that I am aware of. I printed the label and put it on the box. Email says credit will be what I paid for, including shipping. If its gonna be deducted, Im sure they'll let me know.

If CS actually issued you the return label, it's probably free. Since the rep couldn't give you the difference in price due the policy in place, he may have just given you free shipping as a good will gesture of the situation. If you manually opted to return the item yourself, then if nothing was wrong you would be charged. But more than likely, the rep just covered it for you.

And that's what I'm doing. No skin of my back.

I collect tons of stuff, so its not unusual to have something unopened of 5 weeks after launch. Even though I bought it 3 weeks ago. Nope, didn't open it either. Ask me about my unopened Valkyrie Profile and Panzer Dragoon Saga next time.

I know Amazon is sticking to the script on this one. I don't have to like it, so in the future I don't have to patronize them. They can strike away! But based on my Order History, I doubt they will do that.

Got an interesting email from Amazon.de just now about my Metroid Legacy edition. Apparently they are refunding me $31.38 due to the pre-order price guarantee. I'm not sure how or why this happened because I haven't spoken to them but I'm not complaining about it. If anyone else got theirs from Amazon.de I suggest you check your email.

Just got mine as well along with a delivery estimate of late October of my SNES from Amazon NA. Think I know which Amazon I like better.

Don't know if this happened to anyone else but my Shadow of War Metal Pak was scratched inside a perfectly sealed case. It's a Metal Pak so I don't really care but heads up to those who might.

The Witch & the Hundred Knight 2 Limited Edition - NISA

dat stress ball. Been adding more links to other CEs the past few days. Anything in NISA or Iffy's that's OOS, their EU website still has them up.

True, I forgot the GCU price would have already been lower so in this case, no need for a PM. They've never combined GCU with a PM for me, or at least they're not supposed to.

Really glad they are giving a 2 disc soundtrack. I hate the CE's that give you a soundtrack sampler. The only reason I am still keeping my FE:Warriors preorder is for the soundtrack,

Is there a reason for the refund? It's been popping in and out of stock frequently and I've passed a bunch of times in the last week. Thinking of grabbing one when it comes back in stock if I'll get a discount like that.
