Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Just do it. Dont tell them you expect the price to be, just ask for a price check. If they ask, tell them that the games are old and you expect them to be lower, dont tell them how lower ;) I bring up stacks at a time too.

All the Sears I've been to have price scanners, but never near electronics. So you may have to walk across the store with a handful of games to check. Also, be kind, rewind... err I mean take the games back and put them back where they go if they aren't as cheap as you want.

A few pages back, a CAG was questioned by security because he was seen taking a stack of games to another department to use the price scanner. So be careful when doing so.

That's what I do, no shame here. Given that most of the prices we know already, chances are good that the prices posted here should be pretty accurate except for some regional differences. In my area, MotoGP07 was still ringing up at $19.99 (Newark, CA) but at another (Cupertino) it was ringing up at $3.97, the clearance price posted here. So I just did a return/rebuy at the Cupertino location.
 
Found 2 Expired 3 month Live packs with the headsets, priced 19.99 rang up 4.97. Cashier knew me from the last time came in, so she adjusted the price of both packs down as far as she could without manager approval, so I ended up paying 4.24 for both packs.

Also found the 12 month Live Vision bundle expired on June 30th, clearance at 51.97. I tried to reason with the manager that since half the things in the box are expired, she should sell it to me for half the price, but she said that she has to ship it back out to the manufacturer instead. =/

Edit: After opening one of the 3 month live packs, all that there was ...was the headset, and $10 rebate. lol. Funny thing is, the other one was way more abused and even open, but everything was intact. Oh well, I paid for one anyway, so at least I got a free headset out of it.

Just price checked the old 12 month vision cam bundle, 54.97 I believe. That thing has been sitting in the case for a while, hopefully it'll still be there for another drop ;)

Yeah, thats what a friend of mine did with the 48 trial ones. He said that he called and said he bought a game and the code was expired and they issued him a new one. You could try calling.
 
Picked up a Metroid Prime Gamecube system for $29.97 the other day. I kinda got lucky as I mentioned to the guy working that I was surprised the few gamecube games they had were not on clearance & he told me they still had a system in the back. I asked him to price check it for me & I bought it. :)

I had alot of expired codes from 3month packages from Kmarts some was expired in 2006 too but they worked just fine for me and the person bought them from me. Just try the code before you call to get new code. Might save you a few min XD.

And DANG! 14.97 for 360 Blue wireless Controller? Isn't as good as Kmart but that's a good price if i can find one. Anyone know about the pink controller? does it have the same price?

oh hey thanks i haven't been follow up with this thread too close because my sears and kmarts are basically cleaned of clearance stuff except 07 sport games. Anyway thanks 12.97 for a wireless controller is cheap nomatter what color it is. and "REAL MAN WEARS PINK" right? :lol:

Well, this isn't true. I've had several shoplifters arrested over the years in our comic shops and we have no cameras. We watch them grab something and shove it down their pants, we let them leave the store, we write down their license plate as they go, and the police pull them over down the street, search them, find the stuff, and arrest them (assuming we agree to press charges and promise to show up in court). We do have a policy of convicting shoplifters, so we give employees the day off to go to court. These things rarely go to trial though, as it's pretty easy to plea out of it by admitting guilt. You get a slap on the wrist. If it does go to court, it's 6 months to a year before that happens, so it helps to write everything down so you can refresh your memory down the line when you go to court.

That's completely different. I seriously doubt your comic book store is part of an international business model with corporately mandated laws on how to deal with assests protection.
 
Ugh I must be out of luck since I went to both Sears near me and all the games (tried 7) I wanted were like 50cents cheaper than normal sticker price.

Just an odd note here. When to a few Sears in my area and found out the MotoGP 07 got bumped back up to 19.99. Not a week and a half prior, I bought them for 3.97. I brought the receipt in and they wouldn't mark them down. So I returned them.
 
both of my sears seem to have rid themselves of clearance prices. they still have huge bins of full msrp games however ... one less place to check making the rounds i suppose

Same for me. And does anybody know anything about the Metroid Prime GC bundles? I found three, but the freaking clerk wouldn't take them out of the thing unless I wanted to buy them to scan them because they had a $49.99 sticker on them. :wall:
 
I went to a Sears in Moorestown, NJ over the weekend on the way back from Philly and their "clearance" bin of games were pretty much not clearance at all. They did have a few copies of Burnout Revenge that actually rang up for $2.87 so we grabbed two - one for me and one for my boyfriend. I think they had 1-2 copies left.

Shopkeepers in most states can detain customers for police with reasonable suspicion that the customer stole something. Absolute proof is not really needed. On the other hand, corporate policies (not laws) may limit how loss prevention is applied. As far as I am aware it is not uncommon for policies to specifically prohibit application of physical force to detain theft suspect due to liability issues and risks to employees. As the result we all pay the cost of shoplifting when we buy merchandise.
 
Well my Sears thought it would be a good idea to take 90% of the games and lock them away where customers can't see them. Therefore, associates can only look them up by item number. And since there aren't really any clearance games on the website it is tough to get an item number. Nice.

I wonder if this is what my local Sears did with the game section... there's barely anything left. Clearance items slowly dribble out onto a clearance table, though.

Sounds like we share the same sears. I asked one of the clerks why all the games were sitting in the stock room (they had left the door open one day and I saw hundreds of titles), and I was told that they were waiting for the manager to reprice them. Like that is ever going to happen.

I caught an employee rearranging the whole games section at my sears, when I asked she said that they were the "extra" games and that many of the same titles were already out on the shelf so look there. Also nearly half of the Wii games magically disappeared during this, including about 10 copies of Happy Feet. There is still clearance here but its not very good. The games I caught her arranging were mostly PS2 games though.
 
Basically all Current-Gen games at my Sears are behind a glass case, which is helpful because I know the prices on this stuff and I like to waste workers' time trying to find prices on games.

Maybe the restocked and that is why the price went up. That happened last summer. I found Hot Shots Golf on PSP for $2.97 at one store. A few weeks later I find it at another store and it was $19.99. Then the Sears I first saw it at restocked at $19.99 as well.
 
My Sears had not had a clearance rack forever but happened to pop in to the store today and picked up Dark Kingdom for PS3 for 3.97, figured running around in a hack n slash is worth four bucks.

All for an extra 10% off too, csr has to scan a piece of paper in their folder. So you musk ask for it, because when a csr ring me up, a manager walk by and he told the csr about the promo. Are these good prices guy????

They have a bunch of other DS, PSP games and 07 sport PS3 game between 1.97 - 2.97. They also have a full bin of other games with no price on it.

The law is the same whether you're Wal-Mart or a mom and pop store. Laws also vary by state. There are no federal laws on shoplifting or how to treat shoplifters or suspected shoplifters.

When I worked at Meijer (Midwest competitor of Wal-Mart) our process for dealing with shoplifters was identical to the process we used in the comic shop. If an employee visually saw a shoplifter conceal an item, we let them walk out of the store and had the police stop them. That policy replaced our policy we had in the 90's of physically tackling shoplifters and handcuffing them if loss prevention saw them conceal something. That was awesome...you just don't see that at any stores these days. I believe our loss prevention team had to go to some local law enforcement academy and become special deputies with arrest powers to do that.

I found some odd stuff at a sears today, it was all thrown in a bin with mismarked price tags, so I got the xbox 360 memory unit (64mb) for 4.97 and Excite truck for 9.97 (marked 24.97 yeah right, did the happy dance at the register). I saw a Xbox 360 Lan adaptor however the package was half gone so I have no idea if it was a return or if it even worked, so I didn't get that, I am sure it was very cheap and just mismarked like the rest of the items. I also saw a 1400 or 14000 Xbox live subscription card (I don't know much about these), but I didn't get that as I have no use for it. Oh yeah some of the goodies will in a small container like bin on a shelf near the register, search your whole sears electronics dept. if you are looking for goodies you never know where they have been placed.
 
its not on the list but i picked up mlb2k7 for 4.97 and ncaa 07 college basketball at sears not best games but a really good baseball game for 5 bucks isnot bad
