Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Sorry my bad, it was actually $9.97. I must've had the games I found the last time on my mind when I typed that (F1 & Metroid Prime Hunters for $4.97).

i can confirm that ffvi for gba was indeed $9.97 - i snagged 2 for my personal collection.

I scanned FFVI at one Sears store last week and it rang up $19.97! So, like all Sears clearance deals, the price is YMMV. I did land one for $9.97 at another store though.
 
i went late last night before closing.. probably the last haul for this month, the sears around me are all dried up of feb clearance.

The prices really are YMMV then, I am happy enough to have snagged FFVI for 19.99 as ebay prices are getting insane for it and also the supply of the game around here has dried up completely so if I didn't get it when it was 20$ I was not going to get it at all. At least i didn't have to pay the retail of 34.99 or 29.99 for it.
 
My Sears sucks so bad. I couldn't find anything at all :cry:. Was hoping to at least get DDR 1/2 or something for the PS3 like Lair. Everything was marked way too high. Only decent deal was the PS3 Memory Card Reader for $4.97. I guess I'm gonna go try my luck at Target tomorrow. Wish me luck

Actually prices have died as of late. They're averaging in the $30 range now, which is pretty good because that's below MSRP.

did they have those games you mentioned? if so, you should go back and price check them. print the upc if you dont want to ask and scan it yourself at the price checker. most likely those games you mentioned are on clearance. i have yet to see anyone post that they're not.

Yeah, always scan the games at Sears or at least as suggested above bring in a barcode sheet. I don't think any of the games I found this past week were marked correctly.
 
Had good luck at a Sears today. Got
Singstar Country bundle - $14.97
Singstar Rocks bundle - $14.97
F1 Championship Edition - $4.97 (I couldn't believe it, this was marked right)
Also found American Idol Encore for Wii, and some great deals on toys for my daughter. Just about the most successful trip I have had to Sears.

yeah, this sale killed FFVI prices, but Sears is pretty much the last place to have any in-stock (besides Kmart, maybe.) Let the impulse sellers clear their stock for cheap, this is the perfect game to throw in a drawer and forget about for a year or two :) FFVI is never not going to be in demand.
 
I price checked Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA. I thought it had to be on clearance by now. It scanned for $34.99! That is $15 over MSRP.

Less than 2 weeks until March, I can't wait for more drops.
 
I think someone from here is a major hoarder in the Youngstown, OH area. I moved here about 4 months ago and seriously have not bee able to get in on just about any deals from CAG at all since coming here. When I was living in Akron I know there are CAGS from around there but I was still able to grab deals without to much of a problem. I think someone from around here is just grabbing everything and flipping for a profit, so lame.

I found F.E.A.R. for the PS3, bought it, brought it home, then went to play it. Only then did I realize that the case wasn't shrinkwrapped and the game was gone.

It's hard to say. Some areas are just harder to find any deal in. I used to live in Central VA, and it was tough going most of the time. People would snap up the Target clearance at 30% off regularly, thinking it was a deal. Now living in update NY it's easier to find deals.

Maybe you just aren't looking in the right places? It takes some time to figure out deal-hunting in a new area.

Yeah in that area I think you're going to have to be a lot quicker to get in on deals...
 
It is all too easy to spend a few hours and hit up every store in a ~40 mile radius and make a few hundred bucks. If you want deals, gotta be super fast.

I know someone from CAG who lives in MY state(PA), travels up into NY for work and hits EVERY motherfuckin' Sears, GS, BB, etc up that way. They also take treks down into NJ(Paramus area) for deals from time to time, so they cover the tri-state area very well, which is why I almost never find anything when I go to an auction and decide to hit a Sears, GS or BB.

You have to be quicker and learn how many people you're competing with, since I know there's at least TWO major hoarders in my area. Otherwise, you'll ALWAYS come up empty handed.
 
I happened to find a Pink xBox 360 Wireless controller (for the wife) at one local Sears, but when I scanned it at one of the "check the price" scanners in the store, it came up as the normal $49.99!

Is that normal?
Would it scan differently if I took it up to a cashier at the cash register?

It's just a bummer that people would take something as positive as a community of gamers who all contribute to helping each other find good deals on an activity that we all love and turn it into something completely greedy by screwing over the same people that constantly help them find these deals only so they can turn a quick buck.

Hoarding used to be a problem but I remember a couple years back this place wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. It's just sad to see the state of things, this is the reason why I have a gamefly subscription now because I can't get in on deals for games that I would have otherwise passed up. That was the best part of CAG for me, trying out games because they were cheap and ending up finding tru gems that I probably never would have touched if it wasn't for CAG.
 
So here's my sob story. Went to my local Sears goldmine because the games are never marked correctly and they had tons of the $4.97 and .97 games. Well, I got greedy and counted on them being lazy and thought that I would wait until some of the titles I didn't REALLY want went to $1.97 next month. Bad idea. The whole "$29.99 and lower" bin was cleaned out of all the clearance games and all the other games that were in the system at say $19.97 or $29.97 were marked with pink tags that were $19.99 and $29.99 effectively pulling them out of the clearance cycle. I did wander a bit and found where they had put the clearance titles and they were really picked over but I was able to snag FF VI for $9.97.
I then went to another Sears that is just up the road from my house and they had also cleared out their clearance stuff and put it out in a high traffic area. I wonder if the District Manager realized that no one was pushing their clearance electronics and started screaming at store managers. Oh well, here's to hoping they fall back into their lazy pattern.
By the way I did see Burnout Paradise in the value game bin marked at $19.99. Didn't scan it, I was too bummed to bother.
 
Picked up Splinter Cell: Double Agent for the PS3 for $4.97 today from a Sears in Baton Rouge, La. Judging by the list, this may be a new low price.

i think i've mentioned this before (i know youre not guilty of this).. but if you dont want to miss out on any future deals YOU SHOULD NEVER REVEAL THE SEARS YOU GO TO. PERIOD. but please, all we really need is the price confirmations and variations. if you count how many of us that actually post hauls/deals and compare them to the amount of page views you'll be surprised as to how many views this thread receives everyday (im not sure of the exact numbers). in this day and age, you can just google-maps a sears and it should tell you where the nearest one is. and for those who dont know, sears have an iphone version of their website, making it much easier to navigate when youre trying to locate for one.

[/quote]yikes. sorry to hear that. goldmines are great but you should never take any markdowns for granted :) (especially when the games are ranging from .25 to $4.97)
 
Plus there is no guarntee it will drop to $1.97. Some $4.97 games have been stuck at the current prices for months. Tiger Woods 2004 on GBA has been $4.97 since the fall, and those $0.97 GCN games like Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 were $4.97 for 3 months in a row I think before dropping to $0.97.
 
I picked up a copy of Mortal Kombat Armageddon (Wii) today for $9.97. I wanted to wait for it to fall to to $4.97 but didn't want to risk it since they are now going for up to $40 new on the secondary markets.

Also saw Test Drive Unlimited (360 and PS2) for $4.97 each.

One good example I saw over the weekend, Mario Kart for the Gamecube is still on clearance at $19.97.

I do! I mean, I have my own little goldmines and I NEVER mention exactly which they are, especially if they have stuff worth keepin an eye on. And it works pretty well. Just today, I went to one of my goldmines (not Sears) and managed to get 2 games I've had my eye on. And I've had my eye on those for a few weeks now, and I'm pretty sure none have sold since then.

Two to three years ago the Sears clearance thread was one of the more obscure clearance threads on CAG now it is one of the largest. My jaw drops when I see the number of views this thread gets currently at over 275,000. I had my eye on two copies of Final Fantasy VI and Pokemon Sapphire that disappeared right before the price dropped sucks for me. I used to find awesome deals at Sears all the time.
 
It's like that with Target and TRU as well. Years ago even before CAG, I was able to find everything I wanted easily at Target, now with more people looking for deals and price stickers being accurate, it's more difficult.

Years ago stuff at Sears was there for weeks, but they now seem to be tagging stuff more as well. With this past drop, if you didn't get there the same day as the drops then chances are you missed out on stuff. I got to a Sears a little after 12:00, on the day of the drops and the employees already pulled the games to the side I guess to retag and I was lucky to have gotten F1 on PS3 and Armored Core 4 since I have yet to see them at any other Sears store.
 
Yeah someone hoarded all of the clearance stuff at my sears also there were like 4 copies of F1 a few days ago when it was still regular price they grabbed them all, not cool :(

Ya, like I said it's just kind of sad whats happening. I used to get such a strong sense of community from these boards and don't get me wrong there are still some great people on this site we juts now have people preying on all the good deals never even chiming in to thank the people that alert them to it.

It's the same way with my other hobby anymore, vinyl records. There has been a resurgence in vinyl lately which means all the limited pressings are worth big cash, anymore when a preorder is put up you have to preorder it within a minute or two of it going up otherwise you're out luck then sure enough when the record is released there are all those copies right up on ebay, it's gotten so bad to the point where I've just given up on collecting vinyl.

when i first joined (on my old account, back in 2004), people were bragging about getting $1000s in credit from EBgames and there were always lots of discussions about what's rare and expensive (with thinly veiled "I'm gonna buy this and sell it right on ebay" undertones.) I didn't care then and I don't care now, since I account for hoarders when I check stores and decide what I want to get on clearance (I know, novel idea) but some people on this site have an awful case of golden age syndrome. :\

scanned burnout paradise because of previous psots saying its $4.97....NOT...scanned both ps3 and 360 version.
also Oblivion is still 29.99
shivering isles expansion is 29.99
that is all i scanned
 
Whoever said Paramus Park Mall in NJ is completely cleaned out is not quite right... saw 2 copies of :ps3: Armored Core 4 today and 1 each :360: Def Jam Icon and :360: NBA Street Homecourt, plus a handful of $0.25 stuff.

Was going to buy the PS2 crosswords game but I only had 26 cents of change on me and didn't feel like breaking a bill. :p
