Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Almost didn't post this, cause I doubt people will believe me and I think my friend that rang me up may have changed the prices as she did hit a few keys after each item but:
PS3 - Warhawk w/Headset - $1.97
GBA - Final Fantasy VI - $1.97

Can probably snap a picture of the receipt tomorrow if people really want, but again I have my doubts whether or not this was their actual prices or manually overridden. Neither had generic UPCs and both have the correct game title on receipt.

I don't know if anyone mentioned, but I picked up Katamari Damacy at Sears for $14.95 It was in there little clearance bin, so check it out. It's a great ps2 game.

I think they hit keys after each item to say no to the extended warranty screen that pops up on the screen after each item. I have seen it before, most of the time they just press the keys without asking me for the warranty, other times they try to sell me the warranty and when I say no they act shocked.

I really hope my local Sears gets these new prices soon like how others reported Timeshift dropping to $1.97. I scanned my UPC's on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the prices were still the same. I'll check again tomorrow (only because it is a 3 minute drive from where I work).

Like when I was buying a $1.97 games, they said it is only $0.30 (15% of the game price) for the warranty and if the game breaks I can get a gift card for $1.97. Like it would actually be worth the trouble to file a claim for a $1.97 game.

its not on clearance. old stock, restocked. all sears have them :cool:
 
I finally was able to go back to my local Sears today to pick up Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (360) for $4.97 plus tax. There were two copies left, I left the one with the torn up cover labels. There is still a NBA Street Homecourt (360) there for $4.97 and a couple of Splinter Cell Double Agent (360) for $9.97. I think I am going to wait for another price drop before I pick up Splinter Cell Double Agent, and I am going to totally pass on NBA Street Homecourt. From what I can tell, none of their PS3 games were at CAG friendly clearance prices.
 
I have a question that I can't seem to figure out. Do the prices in the system get auto marked down the 1st of every month or does an employee have to do something to propagate the new prices.

I think it is employees that change the prices. In December my local Sears had the new pricing on the 4th of the month, this month it didn't happen until the 6th when others reported getting new prices on the 5th.

Same with KMart, on one drop my local KMart took a few extra days until the new prices were in the system.

Should be both. Some things are probably on their last leg (we keep those in a separate "we really want to sell this before we just take a loss on it" bin), but some things will get marked further, and there should be new drops. I don't know what they will be, but I'll probably be stickering the new drops, so I'll let you know if I find anything worthwhile.

I think Splinter Cell Double Agent may be going out of the system on the next drop date. I bought two at $9.97 and plan on mailing one to my old roommates. We have them in the "last chance" bin at my store (customers don't know it's last chance, though). I'll check tonight and post back as to whether or not they will go any lower.
 
Good News, my sears added a second price scanner! The first one that I mentioned in my post yesterday (which is right by the exit) is already not working. I bring this up because I can now help out with the March drops very easily. Also, I scanned NHL 08 PS3 yesterday. It's still 29.99.

Nice and lucky. My sears doesn't have a price scanner. But I do rather enjoy bringing up 18 games and ask them to check the prices. It's quite fun.:bouncy:

I used to live in Toledo, but I only went into the Sears up there once to see if I could transfer to that store. Never happened.

PS - I think it's actually located as a stand-alone on the corner of Dorr and Central. I don't think Franklin Park has a Sears.
 
Just a note...the Sears Rockaway, NJ in the Rockaway Mall was pretty bare yesterday.

Also to the tall guy with the blonde long hair who was with his mom. Thanks for grabbing most of the clearance games at multiple copies yesterday. I would have liked to get "1" Copy of Final Fantasy VI. This guy bought like 30 or so games yesterday and left nothing!

im pretty sure hes already listed it on ebay

that store really sucks imo. ive been there a few times since its right along 80 on my way to ohio. i remember going there and they had a ton of suikoden v. then someone reported them at $6.97 each i went back a week later and they're all gone. theres a bunch of hoarders there.

Yeah you think its bad by you the Milwaukee area is a Ebay Hoarder nest.. I will never forget back to that Best Buy $2 game sale like a year ago or something when there were tons of people with printed lists that basically ran to the games section when the doors opened...

But pretty much if a deal is posted here it has already been bought or I have a like a 20% chance of finding something if I run out as its posted...

I would be curious to know how many CAG lurkers are from my area.

Wasn't that 2 years ago now?

I remember, because I pre-bought what I wanted at Northridge then got price adjustments at the Mayfair BB which was 2 blocks from my job.

I even checked the games section before I PM'd my stuff and there were a dozen people in the games section pissed that they couldn't find $2 copies of Full Auto

But anyway, Sears clearances sucked in Milwaukee, except for the former Sears Grand in the Falls.
 
Apparently, Sears made a mistake in clearance pricing one game, which most of you probably wouldn't have wanted anyway.

I had The Incredible Hulk for PS3 price checked yesterday at my other local Sears and it came up as $29.99, when the week prior it was out in the $19.99 and under bin with a pink clearance sticker marked $13.97.

God, I just got a major load of sh** dumped on me.

Found Kirby Canvas Curse buried in an endcap filled with DVDs...but the shrink wrap is gone. I'm excited, but at the same time, i'm ready for disappointment. In a panic, I open the game... and nothing is there. Then a worker comes up to me, and asks if I need assistance. He then asks me why the game is open. I said I found it like that, and there's no game inside. Right away he tells me to freeze and then calls security. Security shows up, he talks to them in a whisper but I can hear... he's telling them I stole a game. They escort me to the back very calmly, and I explain what happens. they check the security tapes, which takes about 2 hours apparently. Then another security guard comes in with the GM and starts harassing me big time. I explain what happened again, and they say that in the tapes they see me clearly opening the game. So i consent to a search, and they find nothing. still, they keep pressing me... for another hour. It's been almost 4 hours so far, and i keep asking them why they're keeping me here if they have no evidence that i stole the game. Then they grill me again, and keep pressing the issue over and over again, expecting a confession. I say that they have no legal right to hold me unless they're willing to charge me with a crime, and I know my rights; if they don't release me immediately, i'm going to charge them with kidnapping. The only reason I tried to keep things amicable to this point is because I know i'm innocent, and I don't want to get banned from this sears. They finally let me, escorting me out the store, but say that I'm not allowed to come back. what a bunch of fuckheads.
 
That sucks, I usually give clerks the empty cases when I find them. Maybe I should drop them and run from now on.

Sorry this happened to you. I found an unwrapped copy of Battalion Wars 2 at a local Sears, and it didn't even occur to me to open it-- as soon as I realized it was unwrapped I figured it was probably busted/stripped and re-shelved it.

My advice: if they didn't get anything in writing, i.e. took your name and/or copy your ID, just wait a month and start going back. The tapes showing the initial nonsense will have been deleted by then and they can't have you charged with trespassing if they don't have some sort of record of asking you to leave. Also, there's a very high chance they'll have forgotten about it completely, especially if it's warmed up a bit and you're dressed slightly differently.

Few years back i had something like that happen to me in a sears... Lucky i was going to best buy to buy a ps3 and told the manager that the SOB who said i ripped something off just lost your company 500 bucks and showed him the cash and told them they better have some prove or i will charge them with not allowing me to leave the store and sue them up their #$#$#$#$

ever since then the workers never try to pull anything on me cause they know i will go off on them

just remember always carry a botttle of glitter with you just in cause you see a magizine rack LOL
 
What is with the Sears and opened games. I saw a copy of Super Swing Golf 2 today and it was missing the shrinkwrap. That is the 3rd Sears store I have been to in the past 3 weeks that had a copy of that game with the shrinkwrap missing.
 
it happens all the time at sears. you cant avoid it since employees doesn't really care at all.. its the department that makes the least amount of money. i mean where do you see a store where theres even evidence of theft and yet they just leave it lying around for people to see. are they trying to bait people into thinking they'll be stupid enough to look and be accused of or are they stupid enough to think people will buy them eventually. either way, they are wrong and they should have handled that when it first happened in the first place to prevent any wrong doing from both ends.

this is actually the second time this happened. nearly 2 months ago another incident happened with a cag browsing at sears and was also accused of stealing (they saw him put his phone into his pocket, they thought he was putting games in his pocket). but that time a cop was involved and did all the uneccessary blaming and screaming.

At mine the other day there was an open Fallout 3 with no disk and an open left 4 dead with no disk. Someone must have stole both of them.

I've seen a rogue copy of Fallout 3 once in the clearance bin. Someone must've asked for a price check, didn't like the price, and the employee didn't feel like re-opening the case.

I don't know but there were a lot of newer games out of their little protective glass case thingy. Like SpiderMan WOS, Fallout 3, even a regular copy of fable 2. There were also a few more games like Grand Theft Auto IV with a broken case that kept falling every time I was browsing the games.

Edit: Oh and it's not in like a glass case like at target, it's more like Circuit City/Best Buy that have the individual size glass case that fits like 1/2 copies of a game,

SSG1 is supposedly $4.97. I was delighted when I found it at my local Sears, but when I scanned it, it came up at $19.97.

My local Sears doesn't even have a glass case for regular games. The systems, and bundles (like Singstar and Scene It games) are in the glass case. Everything else is out on the sales floor, even new release games. The electronics area is seperated with glass walls with only 1 way in and out with security detectors at the entrance/exit. Strange since I was told the whole reason for this setup was due to high theft so you would think they would want all games locked up, let alone new release games.

One of my local stores is the same way. The games aren't totally unprotected, though-- most of them are hanging on those lock-pegs so they can't be removed without either getting help or making a commotion as you tear it off the peg. :D Only the discount games are 'unprotected.' But yeah, the whole electronics section is behind a glass barrier. Fortunately, there's a price scanner in the section, so I can readily check up on stuff in the discount bin.

I work at sears and its just disgusting how they treat video games, here is this huge market, and they're completely ignoring it. Half the time we don't even have new releases until weeks after.
