Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Thanks OP and community. I picked up 2 Singstar Country Bundles for PS2 for 5 bucks each, as well as 2 Buzz: Movie Edition for PS2 @ 2 bucks a pop.

How is this Buzz game, anyway? Do I need a multi tap for the 2 extra buzzers, and if so, will an old, gray, bulky, ugly, ps1 multitap work?

And because my questions quota has not yet been met with this post, how is the singstar-> bbv a good deal when gamestop charges 35 for it used?

Buzz controllers are USB. For BBV, call and ask. If they wont give out the TIV over the phone, call another.

Bezerker (or IATCG or any other thread veteran). To price match, do I just need the best buy ad? Relatedly is there a mileage range on the price match? My best buy is about 25 minutes from my sears.
 
The ad will only be necessary if the game is pictured. Most of the time, they actually call the other store to confirm price/availability. I have never had a Sears ask about mileage, but its YMMV i guess.
 
Thanks Segasonic, I just did my own research on the Sears site. here's what it says exactly:

If you find a lower price on an identical branded item with the same features (in Home Electronics identical brand and model number) currently available for sale at another local competitor retail store, Sears will match that price plus, give you 10% of the difference. Just bring in the original advertisement to a sales associate at the time of, or within 30 days after, your purchase.
 
Ive had no problems price matching off of receipts. If the employee wants to be a douche they'll call to confirm inventory, but the store by me had 5 copies of the game, so hopefully it wont be an issue.

Worse case scenario, you can buy it at BB, return it, keep the receipt then go to Sears. Since you just returned the game, they should be able to confirm the stock.

It's pretty much depends on the employee you get, since it could be a breeze or hugely YMMV. I don't think I ever tried to price match @ Sears, but price adjusting I've done a couple of times(most recently for Singstar for PS3 down to $1.97 from $9.97).

If anything, I'd just take in the ad from BB and say you want to PM the price. As long as the circular doesn't mention it being a clearance sale or anything, you shouldn't have a problem unless the employees want to be dicks about it.
 
I priced match once at Sears. Had a copy of the Circuit City ad and the cashier matched it no problem. I think the extra 10% off came off automatically.

But what does this have to do with Sears clearance games again?
 
Bought these yesterday:

Pokemon Emerald- 1.97
Final Fantasy VI Advance-1.97

Saw:

Pokemon Leaf Green- 4.97
Singstar 80's Game Only-2.97
Singstar Amped Game Only-9.97
 
Not much luck with Sears since the one closest to me closed. No one ever shopped there...so it was awesome for deals...but obviously that doesn't keep a store in business.

Anyway, stopped at the Sears by my work to check for clearance games. Didn't see much. Guitar Hero III PS2 - $4.95.

Found a couple PS2 Singstar games marked $20 each so I had them scanned:

Singstar Amped - $9.95
Singstar Pop - $14.95

Might check back later to see if they've dropped. Didn't buy anything...video game stock very low in the case. I miss the good old days of Sears deals.

I know a lot of people love these routers because they can be modded so easily. I'm going to try and use it as a wireless switch/extender.
 
My sears, has nothing now. I lied, they have stuff, but stuff like Simpsons, or Party Babies, or imagine. Shovelware shit that no one wanted.

That's the exact type of router I picked up from a fellow CAG for an HD-DVD drive that I had from the Kmart clearance.

That's a hell of a deal, though I bet my closest Sears wouldn't even have one in stock at that price. Mind you, I'd probably try and wait till it was 90% off though, since I'm not too excited by paying 50% or so of MSRP.
 
Not clearance game, but does anyone know if Sears still carry computers? And if so what kind of deals can be had on them on clearance? The screen fell off on my laptop a couple weeks ago, and I really need to look into getting a new one.
 
I went to one of my local Sears today and to my shock and disgust all the clearance games were moved out of the case and properly marked. Now the general public knows what only us CAGs should know. I'm appalled :)

I'm currently using a WRT54G router as a wireless switch right now. It seems to do the job fine. Just be sure to turn off DHCP. I didn't figure that one out for a few days.

I usually try to wait too but finding this coincides with some wireless issues I'm having atm so I thought $35 was better than spending $150+ on a new router. This Sears seems to be frequented by fellow Cheap-asses too, so I thought if I waited, the router would be gone.

any word on if theyve dropped the price of the x360 120gb hdds?

The 3 sears behind me have 120gb hdds just sitting there, but they claim its still $150!

All of the stores around me seem to do a good job of properly marking down clearance games including Sears. I was happy with what I got back during the FEB drops but they did have everything marked except for 2-3 games which weren't marked correctly and I'm guessing bacause inventory was probably messed up so they weren't included with the prices.

Bargin hunting for cheap games has changed over the last 5 years in many ways mostly for the worst for the deal hunter looking to get games as cheap as they possibly can. I used to see stores that would sometimes never get to marking stuff or like Circuit City might not get to marking down stuff for a week or so if they did. My personal favorite was when Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (PS2) was on clearance at TRU. The price was YMMV depending on how overloaded the store was, my store had a ton marked at 19.95 but it rang up 1.98.
 
so i went into my local sears today and picked up an incredible hulk for the ps3 for $4.97. i also ran in to the guy there that hooks me up with some of the games. he told me that he started scanning a bunch of the games that they had in the clearance section to get ready for the may drops. he said that he already had the list for the may drops but couldnt show it to me though. i asked him when the drops start and he said may 1st. i asked if he was sure and he said yes. he told me to come back may 1st to get a look at what they have. the clearance section sucks at my sears so he said for sure that haze was on the list. they had 4 copies there. he also said that alot of the drops were for PS2 games. he thought lost odyssey was on the list but couldnt remember. so prepare to hit your sears on friday guys. oh, im also going back on friday, so if you guys want to scan anything let me know and i'll print up some upc's to scan there. other things that i scanned at my sears:

Pink 360 wireless controller - $49.99 :cry:
Folklore ps3 - $14.97
Narnia ds - $2.97

that was it. so let me know guys what you want scanned and ill get it on friday.

It has already went through the clearance once, so it's probably not going to get any lower. I've picked them up for $10.97 before and I'm sure others have gotten it lower. At one time, finding a new one for $50 would've been a deal since they were asking $100 for them online around Christmas of '08.

Thanks for the tip. If true, it would mean that the May drops would be a mere 3 weeks after the April drops (since April's were late). I'm hoping for some of those big $19.97/$14.97 to $4.97 drops, but I will also accept $9.97 on a lot of those titles.
 
Yeah I'd be happy seeing the $19.97 stuff go to $9.97. I just hope it isn't a bunch of $5 drops like how all the $24.97 stuff went to $19.97.

Feburary was better with a lot of the $14.97 stuff going to $4.97. I also hope that some of the stuff that has been $4.97 for 2 months goes to $1.97 or $0.97.

Since I sold my last gen games I've been looking for a variation of Ultimate Destruction(PS2/Xbox Hulk game) to play, so for $5 I'd easily grab a copy of Hulk for PS3.

Unfortunately, my PS3 is going in for service from Sony soon, so it'll be a month or so till I get it back and I hate letting games just sit.

But for $5, what the hell and maybe I can pick up a NIB Linksys router for $35 while there.

There's your first issue, right there. Don't take a sales person's word for it. Get it scanned!:D Some have reported that it's ringing up $109.

Singstar Amped Standalone was 10 bux at my Sears. It was the lat one and i really wanted so i got it. My toysrus does not have it.
 
Question to the group, do some Sears just not participate or mark down their games? I walked into my local store (Citrus Park in Tampa) and they had tons of the games on the list. But, when I took a batch of about 5 to the register, they ran up at the MSRP price. Came home to actually print out a list with the clearance price, and ran back up there. I used a price checker this time.
:360: Fear ran up at $29.99, :360: Dead or Alive 4 ran up at $19.99, PS3 Oblivion GOTY ran up at $24.99, one other that I forget.

I realize this is all YMMV, but I would have expected at least 1 of the 10 to come up on the clearance price. Any thoughts?

Sadly, the entire Sears clearance is YMMV -- every store can (and likely will) vary somewhat. I feel your pain -- I saw a PS3 Oblivion GOTY copy (oddly shrink wrapped), and it rang up as $24.99 as well.

Only the PS3 version of FEAR was on clearance, the 360 version never was. Dead of Alive 4 was on clearance over a year ago, but they took it off clearance when the PH version was released. Oblivion GOTY PS3 was never on clearance as well, I believe it was the regular version of Oblivion that was reported to be on clearance. Not sure about Jumper though.

if you have a doubt about the price of the game, just ask someone to ring it up for you, my sears doesnt update their prices on the actual games for months on end, but i just ask them to scan it because its updated in the system

They do not. You need the full department type stores that are typically attached to a mall (although not always).
 
Well since today are the new price drops i guess ill give it a go at 10 when they open to see how much the 19.97 and 14.97 games have dropped

The actual drops probably won't happen until the 5th or 6th. the APR drops seemed to take longer than that in my area.
 
oh well i have to go to a gamestop to pick up a my world my way and its next to it so ill just check for the hell of it to see what they have left. I havent check since about 3 weeks ago.
 
went to my sears, and *every single game on that list* was not in the case. I mean literally, 1 by 1, nothing on that list was in there...

COULD IT BE:
A). Hoarder in the area wiped them out? althoguh there were also no empty racks, and not alot of empty space in the case.

B). the games are there but behind other games, i should have asked them to open it and rummaged the whole damn rack.

C). My sears does something with them prior to them going on clearance?
 
Some Sears stores sent back their clearance racks and all the games to corporate. I had this happen at one of mine.

it would be pretty impossible (and incredibly stupid) for a hoarder to take all the games. Every Sears I've been to has about 100+ games on "clearance" (in reality, most of the games are only a few bucks off)
 
I actually think that Sears sells their clearance games to a liquidator. I've seen some eBay listings from a pretty huge liquidator with system lots that were all clearance games at Sears.
