Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

I don't work for sears jackoff.:roll: I just think it's funny that the people spending the least amount of money are always the first to bitch about something. They probably recognise you as the "clearance guy" and probably rather not deal with you.

Because this thread isn't just for you to find the cheapest games at sears. Sometimes people just want to talk about random stuff about Sears. So I ask you, what have you contributed that gives you the right to bitch about how the Sears thread goes?

Actually I do and I have. It depends on the product. I don't give a shit really about games so I'll get the cheapest price. When it comes to other things, I'll pay more knowing I can get good customer service during the sale and after.

All of the fucking clearance threads go this way. This isn't the sears thread, it's the sears CLEARANCE thread. If the clearances go away, it defeats the purpose. Plus, I wasn't even bitching, I was trying to get it back on topic.

And the topic was about dealing with SEARS employee's to get your hands on clearance games. All threads are this way as your statement reads above so get over it. ITS BEEN ON TOPIC.

Why should an employee not want to do their job and sell the items that are for sale in the store to any type of customer? Are you saying that you approve of a employee who is prejudice and or a bigot?

Employee's are suppose to serve the customer. It has nothing to do with what the customer wants to buy or how much they want to spend. All successful businesses understand this and those that don't get a bad reputation and lose customers.

I assumed with how snippy you got regarding the lazy Sears employees who scoff at helping someone looking for a price check that you MUST BE ONE OF THEM. Please accept my sincerest apologies. However, there are many 'clearance guys' who go into Sears far more frequently than myself who the clerks would probably equate to being 'the clearance guys' moreso than me.

There hasn't been a single game I've really wanted in months at Sears, so if I make a trip ONCE a month it's a miracle. Now Kmart and maybe TRU and a select further off Sears that hasn't been completely cleaned out, those might be a totally different story.

As you said, all of the clearance threads go this way, so what's the big deal? You end up having to flip through a couple pages of people talking about their scores and the store in general, which takes all of what.....10 minutes to skim through?

Again, this goes back to relative newbies wanting the deals handed to them on a silver platter. Half of the fun of looking for these deals is the hunt and if you're just not willing to do that, then this is the wrong place for you.

Interestingly enough a bunch of GH Aerosmith bundles randomly showed up, presumably from the mysterious back room. I wonder if they'll drop to like $1.97 this week. I'll pretty much HAVE to buy some at that point.
 
I guess this is off-topic, too, but I finally opened the 360 GH III bundle I found at Sears and realized it wasn't quite "new." The game was open, the guitar was covered in stickers and there was only one battery.

Now, since I only paid 4.97 for it, I wasn't really upset, but if I had paid full price for that, I'd go through the roof. How Sears could take a return like that and put it back on the shelf is beyond me.

Then again, maybe that's why I was able to grab it for only 4.97. :D

I could be wrong, but the 4th is pretty much like most American holidays where retailers believe they're best celebrated by spending money.

Picked up Dance Dance Revolution Universe 3 (360) for $19.97. Dead Rising was $19.99 and Timeshift was $29.99 (both 360). Didn't see anything else that on the list that was there. I was really hoping for an Xbox 120 gb HDD for $70, but they were long gone.
 
Even at $1.97 I would only buy Aerosmith for the guitar (or to trade in the guitar to GS). Nobody wants this game, and even if they did the shipping costs would be brutal.

I know I'll be checking out Sears on friday, though I have little hope they'll have done the drops by then.

7.97 according to the OP. They weren't tagged, and I didn't bother to price check, no way was I lugging that thing over to the price scanner, past the 56 Sears employees standing around doing nothing. I'll print a UPC for next time and if they're at $5 or less, I guess I'll get some and build a fort out of guitars or something.

And I just searched online, it looks like Sears will be open on the 4th, though there may be early closing.

They should be open on the 4th but will probably be on Sunday hours (even though it is Saturday)
 
I have had no problems with rude employees at the Sears I go to. It may be my approach, or I just am lucky, but they are always willing to help me.

Try going "excuse me sir" or "excuse me ma'am" and asking them to check it for you. Politeness goes a long way.
 
i dont think the drop will be for this weekend because i havent heard from our informants. maybe next week. but DO scan the current finds and see if they went down tomorrow morning.
 
You know I actually like the kinda off topic talking because its pretty interesting sometimes and I love listening to the stories people have. So if some people are too lazy to read through a couple more pages to get the info they need then they need to fuck off this thread.

Yea, I haven't been there lately but all signs would point me to no for tomorrow. Already alot going on for the July 4th weekend, so if they do happen DO NOT expect them to be ticketed.
 
From what I've seen, don't expect drops for at least another two weeks.

PSP to TV cables going UP in price from $1.97 to $7.97 on Friday. $10 drops on GHWT each. That's it.

Important to note, a lot of other electronics look like they will drop, including TVs, cameras, etc. Just no video games with the exception of GH:WT this week.
 
No Aerosmith bundles in sight at the Chapel Hill Sears either. When I go pillaging again Monday I'll check the Belden Village, OH and Niles, OH Sears.

The last time I found anything "good" at that Sears were the Metroid Prime GC bundles for $30. That isn't much of a deal, so I mentioned it on CAG for someone else to pick up. Now it's always a ghost town because people get there like the first day the drops happen. :lol: Also, IATCG has been to that store at least once. I can't go to any other store without a car, so I'm left with just the Chapel Hill store.
I remember reading the Kmart clearence thread for the first time, printing out a huge list, going to Kmart, and being amazed that they had so many games that were on the list! I got Polarium for $3 as a "test" that it would really work, and didn't really know how to ask for more games without annoying the hell out of the employee. I decided I'd get more when I came back in a week or so. I come back, everything is cleaned out. I didn't even post my location! So...fuck.

As of this morning, nothing at the Chapel Hill Sears was marked with the "JUL" tag. Still "JUN" and "MAY."

They did have about 7 intercoolers for PS3 for $4.97 if any Akron CAGs are looking for one.

Checked 2 local Sears. Neither has any July clearance tags get for games, and prices on some other clearance items seem the same. I did pick up GH3 (360) for $2.97 - already have it for Wii but worth it just for "Devil Went Down to Georgia" without the stupid battle version that the Wii has.

This may be a first - there are PCNs for MONDAY. Whether or not the contain games I don't know. But other things such as headphones that typicaly get marked down with games are on it so there's a good chance. Some non-game deals I saw:
-Samsung 46" A650 $1273
-Flip Camcorders (I know someone was watching these, told you I'd look out for you!) $44.97, $54.97, $64.97 and $74.97.
-Ipod Boombox for $4.97 down from $49.99.

I checked a "safety" Target that I thought was untouched today, the half dozen copies of Banjoe Kazooie were gone, as well as one copy of FEAR2 left out of the dozen I saw last week. Checked and ringing up at 24.98, what happened to my safety Target >_

Thats why its best to just print out the UPC's, good luck finding that Aerosmith bundle though! I have see the GH III bundle for either Ps2 or 3 and it was 14.98. As far as price checking goes, some employees are good others not so much; thats life though. I love the fact that they swear what price is on the box is what it is. I'm not asking for a price check cause I'm stupid, I just "heard" X game may be on sale. I just love the looks on their faces when surprise it's on sale...thanks for being so great at your job!

To be fair, Sears doesn't give it's employees a magical list of clearance items and tell them to cut loose. For some reason, we're not supposed to/allowed to see the VOM list. Instead, it usually works that we are asked to scan every game in the case and dump anything that is $20 or less in the bin.

And like I said, don't get your hopes up for any drops this week. MSRP drops on Guitar Hero World Tour. That's it. Nothing else. We're not supposed to see the lists, but sometimes they show up at our cash-wraps and I take a look.
