WHEN REPORTING TRADE-IN VALUES PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

First post contains promo information & useful information and frequently asked questions. Second post has the values for games/hardware for Microsoft devices. Third post has the values for games/hardware for Nintendo consoles and the fourth post has the values for Nintendo handhelds. Fifth post has the values for games/hardware for Sony consoles and the sixth post has the values for Sony handhelds.

Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

PART 1: So good news and bad news at Gamestop. Good news: ALL GS locations in the US are getting wi-fi this week! Not sure if they are open access points or closed. Also don't know if all the locations are getting the same connection like ATT Wi-Fi or if it varies by locale (ATT/Verizon/Comcast/Time Warner/Charter, etc.)

Bad news: There are two reasons for this. One, systems can now be tested to see if they are banned from XBox Live I believe, since you could do an online connection test and that touches XBox Live. But the 2nd reason that's more imminent; if you buy a PS4/XB1 and don't have internet access, Gamestop will hookup your system to download the Day 1 patch. Depending on speed of the GS connection and size of the files, this could greatly slow down the lines at launch and take up lots of employees time at the store post launch taking up 1 of each stores 2-3 registers.

Found out about this at the CoD launch so just wanted to pass the info along.

PART 2: So bad news on the Gamestop Wi-Fi situation:

1. The Wi-Fi is locked down with the password setup by each individual store manager but even if you got ahold of it ...

2. Everything someone would want to go to in a browser from gaming sites, to YouTube, to even news sites like cnn, foxnews, etc. are all blocked. Trying to access them gives you a blocked message from the firewall that's setup. Twitter/Facebook iOS apps worked but NFL Mobile and others w/video did not as they timed out. Don't use the YT app (just use the mobile site) so didn't try that. And even that doesn't matter because ...

3. It's as slow as molasses compared to 4G LTE or anything like Boingo, ATT, or any of the other public access points. So if you get behind a bunch of people w/o net access I feel sorry for you and I dread these launches now given the area I live in and our customer base's general lack of net access ...

PART 3: So GS has handed down a memo I'm sure is also going to apply for XB1 in that they count Friday as a pickup day so any PS4 not picked up before close of business on Saturday, Nov. 16 or any XB1 not picked up before Saturday, Nov. 23 is available first come, first serve to customers on Sunday the 17th or Sunday the 24th.

Anyone who has not picked up their system by mid-Saturday will be getting a call from one of the store's keyholders to find out what's up.

Your money won't disappear from the preorder system but that PS4/XB1 will be sold to someone else. You will be told you can call the store when you have acquired the money to pay it off and the next system that comes in after that call will be held for you for another 48 hours.

PART 4: So the info on the GS inTRAnet site I saw today says XB1 preorders can also get the 90% bonus trade on systems tomorrow if they want, although I'm sure there will be an event the following Sunday as well.

There is a SKU employees have to enter/scan to boost the trade. There was a sheet provided for the stores to print out to show what the full value of every system (including Ouya) would get base, w/30%, and with 90%.

The final part is YMMV but my store manager is letting any qualifying preorder customer who has traded their system in the last 30 days and still has their receipt to do a return/retrade to get the extra credit. YMMV on that of course.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

What states charge sales tax on purchases paid in full with credit and which ones don't?

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

You will be waiting longer than 5 years... Also please point out any actual policies that they have? Because pretty much nothing has changed. Games are now region free, kinect is not required to be always on, can turn it off with a simply menu option, can play games offline.

But I forgot Dead Rising 3 is like peter pan and flying, you just need to think happy thoughts! I mean sure you have actual statements that "No this is not a timed exclusive, this is NEVER coming to PS4/PC". But maybe they will look past the fact that there are many little (that add up to a huge chunk) parts of the game that revolves around smart glass and kinect.

Saying "well the first dead rising and mass effect eventually came" is HORRIBLE "evidence".

This isn't a random game that they took a chance on, most of the time when a game is released on a different console after it is because it did well, and they decided it was worth the risk. In this example, it is an exclusive through and through. It was first announced as an exclusive, it was developed as an exclusive, and when released, they said that *gasp* It will ALWAYS be an exclusive.

MAYBE you will get Dead Rising FOUR on the ps4, but not 3. Denial is not just a river in egypt.

Keep trying to appear unbiased by putting dollar signs in the S for Microsoft.

$40-50 is still $40-50, plus keep in mind that they very well could be turning credit into cash, and just prefer to use ebay that potentially getting killed on craigslist (not like anyones been killed trying to sell a ps4 already right?...)
I think by bad MS policies he's referring to their entirely flawed indie game policy that prohibits indie devs from releasing their games on Xbox One if they release it on any other platform before it hits X1. The Witch Beam developer ( I think thats their name) already got locked out of developing games for Xbox One because they didn't want to hold off the already done PS4, PS3, Wii U versions of their game just coz MS asked and in turn MS locked them out.

Seems like a cut off your nose to spite the head sort of policy if you ask me.

He could also be referring to the lack of free games with XBL Gold until Fall 2014 on Xbox One. Even then, it remains to be seen if MS will ever offer as good titles for free as Sony does on Plus.

There are still plenty of things wrong with Microsoft's Xbox policies and they have nothing to do with all those policies they eliminated back in June. Simply put they aren't very friendly to small developers at all

 
No, you can't stack the same $x off coupon, but you can stack the different ones. Ex. $50, $25, $10, $5.

Hot damn. You can buy a $50 Gamestop giftcard with a $50 coupon? That is a very smart workaround. I know several nice and helpful Gamestop employees that probably wouldn't bat an eye at me trying that once.

YMMV on the second option, I myself has used the $x off coupons on giftcards before, but apparently they stopped allowing that? Not sure how true that is but I know at least on CAG confirmed that option no longer works. But just to be safe if you want to try, just redeem one $50 coupon first and test. Obvious I know, but just a warning so you're not stuck with multiple $50 coupons that you have to use on separate transactions.

I did 2 phones and a tablet on one coupon last night. The only issue you might run into is having over $1000 in trade because that's the max on one trade card. They can put the remainder on giftcards up to $1000 though by selling a Giftcard first.
Also you may run into same model number on tablet. Same issue you'd have if trading in two of the same game. I tried a black and a white ipad 16 gig mini and they could only do one since it was the same model ipad.

I traded in 2 black 16gb iPhone 5s's at the same time, but my guy was exceptionally helpful so YMMV I guess.

I see they are offering $30/$40 for PS4/X1 games. Say I trade in Killzone for example that is $40, if I trade it in towards buying a used game, would the current promo for 30% extra on trade in work as well? I'm guessing no since the $30/$40 thing is a promo in itself?

Yes the 30/40 is a whole different promotion so it won't stack with the 30% promotion.

 
Quick question, hopefully someone can answer.

I was able to score a 16gb AT&T iphone 5s from the Gamestop website glitch. I just went to trade it back in, however the clerk couldn't finalize the trade because it didn't identify the carrier. When she typed in the serial number, it only brought up the model information. She seemed relatively competent, even calling a few stores to see if there was an alternative way to determine the carrier. She called corporate last, and they said she couldn't accept the trade without a provider.

The iphone says "no sim" in the top left corner and I can't find any information in the settings that determine a provider. Does this mean the phone is an unlocked version? The T-Mobile versions nets $40 more than the AT&T variant, so could I present the phone as T-Mobile when I try again tomorrow at another Gamestop?

According to Apple's support page, the model number for T-Mobile and AT&T's iPhones in the US are the same. Therefore, I think you can present it as a T-Mobile iPhone.

Interesting, thanks for finding that information. I'm assuming the phone is unlocked then? For those of you who ordered iphones through this deal, did carrier info display despite the absence of a sim card?

 
So I went into GS today to buy my little brother a PS3 and take advantage of the 3x points. Never purchased a preowned system before so I was glad to see a 160gb for $169. Went ahead and used 18,000 pts for a $25 off any preowned 360, ps3, vita, or DS only to be told that I couldn't  use it because its already on sale. SMH now i have to call up customer service to try and get my points back.

And to add insult to injury, I had the worst employee doing my transaction. I can deal with new/uninformed workers but this girl was just flat out rude. As if I was asking  her for personal favors or something.

Damn, I didn't think the difference was that much. But there's not much I could do about that. I would have gotten $525 from Gazelle if they took them as "like new" which is doubtful (and $505 if they took them as "good"). I probably could have gotten $350+ apiece on eBay but that is a pretty slight difference for the much bigger hassle of listing/shipping and potential of getting scammed. Now I'm done with them - saved myself a ton of time this way and I have instant Amazon credit to fill up our accounts with.

We paid $900 for 4 new phones on our new carrier and I got $600 back for just 2 of the old ones and still have my 4S to sell/trade (was only $66 at GS whereas Gazelle is offering $145). (Though had I been able to get $765 for just the two... :drool:...)

Anyway, big thanks to jon94m for the coupon! Now I owe him an equivalent future PUR coupon of his choice ;).

Well, damn, had I known this I would have said T-Mobile. They actually asked me if it was AT&T or T-Mobile so that seems to indicate what others are saying in that it isn't clear from the serial number. I didn't take the sim cards out and they were marked as AT&T though so it would have been obvious at that point. Oh well. What's strange is that they used to give more for AT&T before. In fact last time I traded phones there was in March or April and AT&T was by far the highest value of all the carriers.

You're allowed to use that coupon on sale items. I'm sure another employee will adjust it for you.
 
Just figured I'd help with two things

1. $25 off preowned console coupon won't work because it's a double stack. The only way to make it work would be for them to manually adjust the price.

2. Any GSM iPhone without a SIM in it will say "No Sim". It doesn't mean the phone is unlocked.

SMH now i have to call up customer service to try and get my points back.

And to add insult to injury, I had the worst employee doing my transaction. I can deal with new/uninformed workers but this girl was just flat out rude. As if I was asking her for personal favors or something.

Just figured I'd help with two things

1. $25 off preowned console coupon won't work because it's a double stack. The only way to make it work would be for them to manually adjust the price.

2. Any GSM iPhone without a SIM in it will say "No Sim". It doesn't mean the phone is unlocked.

I was planning on using a powerup rewards $50 coupon, $25 coupon, $10 coupon, and a $5 coupon to bring down the price some more. This is not going to work, is it?

That should work, because it is off your total purchase and not the system specifically. The other option would be to buy GS gift cards for $50, $25, $10, & $5 and then use the gift cards for your WII U purchase.

Hmm I was able to do it on Thursday (bought 2 $50 Amazon cards), so I'd recommend giving it a shot. Wonder if someone ran into a specific district policy or even a know-it-all GS employee that makes their own rules.

The new coupons (both $50 and $25 off any product) state on the coupon that it can't be used on gift cards, third party gift cards or dlc. Just redeemed some points a few hours ago.

Is there a 3x promo running now? If so that would be nice (though isn't it just for purchases now?). I did end up trading my 2 iPhones in tonight. I got considerably less than I would have just a few days ago, but I did convince them to take them as "like new" which netted me an extra $18 ($5 each plus the 80% bonus). I ended up getting $594 for the 2 phones though that would have been $765 a few days ago when the values were still $210/$215 instead of the $170/$160 they are now (the pairs of prices are for the 32GB/16GB models I traded). Damn, I didn't think the difference was that much. But there's not much I could do about that. I would have gotten $525 from Gazelle if they took them as "like new" which is doubtful (and $505 if they took them as "good"). I probably could have gotten $350+ apiece on eBay but that is a pretty slight difference for the much bigger hassle of listing/shipping and potential of getting scammed. Now I'm done with them - saved myself a ton of time this way and I have instant Amazon credit to fill up our accounts with.

We paid $900 for 4 new phones on our new carrier and I got $600 back for just 2 of the old ones and still have my 4S to sell/trade (was only $66 at GS whereas Gazelle is offering $145). (Though had I been able to get $765 for just the two... :drool:...)

Anyway, big thanks to jon94m for the coupon! Now I owe him an equivalent future PUR coupon of his choice ;).
Glad you got in on the stack action. Part of the reason the values fell is because of the B1G1 half off on electronics sale. GS also temporarily cut prices on all iPhones. Both of those had direct impact on the TIVs. Sucks you got in on it right as it happened but better late than never thanks to 80% promo action.

Does anyone know if trading in a tablet with the 50% bonus coupon still stacks with the 30% bonus for buying a preowned game?
Yes, and today is the last day for that coupon so make haste.

 
I recently acquired 130,000+ PUR points after sharing my PUR # with a few CAGer's so I came here to give a free coupon but looks like its not showing up in my active offers anymore.  Sorry guys.

 
Actually, my "50% off a used game" wasn't in my account yesterday, so it looks like they could expire the day before; fortunately, I had a physical copy printed out.
Always at least take a screen shot of your coupons . Gamestop can't has enough of a hard time keeping their website from glitching so I don't trust them with my coupons ;)

tl;dr 50%/30% stack still works today.

On a side note, I finally went over $1,000 in "Value Scored this PRO Year."

Another note, I bought an iPad during the 50% glitch and canceled it. The $100 I used in credit never showed back up on PUR.com or on my receipt today, but according to the manager at the store, the registers shows that it was returned to me. Strange.

You got a PS4 camera? Nice. Hope you enjoy it. Also, it seems many people don't know this but besides Playroom, Just Dance 2014 is compatible with it.

Store Credit returns process takes awhile. Give it 5 business days at least to appear back on your card...although you might have to spend some of that credit on your card because of the 1k limit.

I'm confused because the coupon says "Valid on one item only. Not valid toward gift cards, DLC or POSA cards." Would the "one item" be the console? Not the total purchase? I guess my real question is if the "$$$ off" powerup rewards coupons are treated as a promotion? I'm afraid the coupon won't work with the "Free $25 giftcard with a Wii U" promotion.

This question didn't even occur to me yesterday because I'm used to rewardzone certificates at Best Buy being treated as a form of payment and not a promotion. I've never used these GS coupons before so I don't know how they work with other promotions.

I ordered/canceled on the 9th, so it should be back. I'm not worried about the 1k because the manager told me that the system showed $145, so I accounted for it. It's just that the website and the receipt shows the total without that $145.
