First post contains promo information & useful information and frequently asked questions. Second post has the values for games/hardware for Microsoft devices. WHEN POSTING VALUES:

Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

One other thing: does console trade ins work for E3 and get you 30%? I know it says something in the details about it not receiving the PUR bonus so I assumed that meant it did but was not positive.
Yes, as we were trying to figure out if the 50% bonus towards PS4/X1 would automatically apply to the Destiny bundle, he scanned the E3 barcode and it applied to my PS4 trade in.

In the end, we had to use an XB1 as a placeholder, returned it and paid off the rest of the Destiny bundle with $225 leftover thanks to the Target PO card deal last week.

 
I hope I don't have to go through the awkward phase of, "You're returning a PS4 for a new PS4??" and they just let me do it towards Destiny Bundle. Regardless, looks like it's been working out just fine for many of you, even if there are a few extra steps needed. I HAVE HOPE. That white bundle is all I need.

simply say I bought it used and want it new or whatever usually works I would buy it at a store that isnt your regular one. after the destiny alpha I knew i needed it

I tried to trade my ps4 for the white one today, but the guy told me that i will only get 30% bonus instead of 50%. So i traded for the xbox one and got $398..

 
i believe the promotion is over but how i did it was trade in system towards a ps4 in store, return it a day later and put that towards the destiny bundle

Well thanks for the reply and confimring me i got screwed,fucking lady said i was getting 50% she specifically said i was getting 50 percent,oh well nothing i can do now.

Can always contact the manager, or corporate. They'll be happy to get you the missing amount back.

Just walk in and ask for them again. Tell them the math was off. Show them what it's supposed to be by pulling out your phone and punch it in on the calculator there, or bring your own. That's what I do whenever I am missing credit. If you don't want to go that route, contacting corporate via their contact us on their website works too. They'll definitely help get that amount back and scold anyone who screwed you over. But I'd recommend having them fix it first.

Sam's Club has a good promotion going on the X1 w/ Kinect and Forza 5. Can I price match it for $429 at Gamestop? 

 
You don't have anything to lose by asking; just don't be too disappointed if you're denied.
I'll phone the guy who I consider the "best gamestop" employee in my area. Back in 2011, I got money for my graduation and decided to pick up NBA 2k11 and I paid like $50 then the price dropped to $40 a couple of days I opened it, so the guy honored the price difference.

 
Okay, so the guy I wanted didn't pick up the phone, but the other guy from another location offered to call his boss and find out, so that might be a glimmer of hope. 

 
Received an email that I am going to lose my PUR points if I don't buy or trade something today. Can I just pre order something online to keep the points? I guess I could stop at a store and get a $1 copy of Kinect Adventures or throw down a pre order.

I went in after work and bought a random game for $3 to keep my points, so I checked this morning and while my account was credited 60 for the purchase it still took all my accumulated points away. Am I screwed here? The email said must make a purchase by 6/16 and I checked before I went to the store and the points were still there. I emailed them via the contact me link on their website but haven't dealt with them in a while. Anyone get helped out this way or are they just going to give me the run around?

I've called a few times to get points adjusted so it's possible that if you mention the date/purchase in your email, they might put your points back into your account. I'm not sure how much they're authorized to add but I've adjustments as much as 15k put back (iPad flips) when the system didn't calculate the points correctly.

Both stores I've worked at in the past year have had large collections of dusty kinects that aren't going anywhere. I know we have some of the models without the AC adapter for $20 and that isn't enough to move them. I'm almost wondering if the company is trying to decide how to price them. Since the kinect isn't required anymore, most people may just decide to forgo buying one at all. The price is the biggest factor, though. GS can't price them at $80 and expect somebody to want to purchase it at that price, since the $500 models weren't moving well. Even pricing them at $50, the company would have to factor in the possibility that they could sit on a shelf for a year plus and drop down to $20 as well, meaning they would give you next to nothing for them.

Anyway, it might be a little longer before GS takes them, if at all.

 
I think they obviously have to put it at $100 or $150. $150 would match the plan last gen--get the bundle or pay more, so the bundle is enticing. However, they could get away with $100 now because though the bundle is also $500, it comes with a game now (and not shovelware like Kinect Sadventures).

At $150, I don't think the kinect would move at all. I can't say it is dead at this point, but from the response I've received, most people haven't wanted, haven't cared for, or had no desire to have a kinect on the Xbox One. Removing it was a wise decision, but now it's going to be hard to give people a reason to buy it after they've spent $400 on a fully functional system alone.

I could be completely wrong, but I don't see a market for a kinect that would cost over $80.

I think I noted my experience on the last page or two. I had to do a trade/buy XB1, return XB1 and apply the credit towards the Destiny bundle. My guys are pretty savvy so I'm not sure how you'd do it w/o an override or the method I did here. Since I'm good with the guys at my regular store, they had no issues with the buy/return/apply method. Just hoping it won't trigger LP as I traded/returned PS4/XB1 a few weeks ago. I was hoping for an override but the AM didn't seem to want to do that or couldn't.

I think this was reported but the computer labels the Destiny bundle as a preorder so it's really only eligible for the 30% E3 bonus (via barcode in their book). The 50% will only trigger if you buy an in stock PS4 or XB1, no barcode required.

Trade it towards a kinectless xone and they won't say anything about it. Then do the return.
 
my excuse is I am giving it away as a gift. sometimes they say/ask omg wow thats an expensive gift then I would say its for my BFFs wedding, or rewarding my cousins helping me move lol

 
i would be shocked if they allow you to trade in a ps4 for a ps4 it's not like ps4 has diff hard drive sizes
Have you been living under a rock? Plenty of people have posted that they did so with no problem. When I did it, all I said was I wanted a valid warranty because I bought it used.
