Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

Has anybody tried using the triple/quadruple coupon glitch between more than 1 PUR account before? I redeemed 4 coupons recently (from the same PUR account) so I have 3 left but I was thinking about redeeming my points for another $50 coupon from another PUR account. If the glitch only considers the highest coupon value (and not the same PUR account), then theoretically I'll still have the same 3 that I started the day with left.
I have done this every time that I have used the glitch and it has worked. I pretty much use all of my PUR accounts equally so the coupons get spread out. It's always worked fine and the lower 3 coupons always remain.

easy, it's automatic. All you have to do is claim each of the $50/$25/$10/$5 off coupons (one of each) from your PUR account and then get your GS guy to scan all of them. This may be a given but the item(s) you buy should exceed the total of your coupons, in this case, $90.

When you go back into your account that you claim it from, it should have only removed the $50 from your active offers in your PUR account. Your $25/$10/$5 should still remain. You can keep doing this until all of the coupons are claimed. Each time, only the highest value one will have been claimed.

I think the hardest thing will be to convince your GS employee to scan multiple coupons for one transaction.

yes, you can do any amount but don't double up the same denomination. They all have to be different in order for it to work as described. The computer won't allow duplicates.

I just learned about this too, but judging from his post, it doesn't matter what coupons you use, the register will always use the highest value coupon ($50, $10, $5, would work and the system will take $50, same with $25, $10, $5)

correct, I'll probably use this method (would be my first time) when the Destiny PS4 bundle comes out in Sept. Have about 250k points burning a hole in my virtual pocket. Haven't seen a decent 100k prize since the PO Vita a year or two back.

what do you mean by active offers if you use your points on the coupons you can user them multiple times?

 
Anyone know of a decent way to move BB credit to Gamestop this week? I've got $40 in Best Buy credit I'd like to use towards an X1 Saturday.
I have the exact opposite problem. I'm always looking to get rid of my Gamestop credit in favor of Best Buy. Best Buys are not convenient for trade in where I live.

Best Buy trades are not convenient for anyone. The staff there, for some odd reason, look at me with a deer in the headlights stare when I mention the extra 10% bonus for GCU. They also get flustered doing game trade ins despite the fact that they have to do them (regularly with me anyway). I can't remember the last time I actually got my extra 10% TIV bonus simply because they always say they can't figure out how it works and after standing there 20 minutes, I'm not standing another 20 for $2. Then I have to go to the forums and get them reimbursed which means I gotta upload the receipt and then get told they should know how to do this and yadda yadda yadda.

It's never been an easy or short experience.

That said I'm thinking about dumping CoD Ghosts, it's getting $20 for the ps4 version. Can I trade it towards say Destiny, get $28, then go back a couple hours later and change the preorder and still get my $28 credit?

Using coupons between accounts doesn't matter. You'll be able to use them with your other account. I've done it with my account and my brother's.

Thanks for confirming, guys. I can now maximize my points further by redeeming my points off my other account then. This works out great because I'm tired of cashiers spazzing out looking at my points balance whenever they scan my PRO card.

What this also means is that technically we cags can buy coupons from other members to maximize theirs as well. For example, if I only had enough to get $40 worth of coupons, I'd be better off paying off another cag for his $50 coupon. By doing this, I would essentially get a bonus $25 of goods since the $25 coupon would have expired anyway had I not redeemed the $50 one. Of course, you'd need to plan for a big purchase worth $90 to use all 4 properly. Too bad I didn't notice this when the gift card mall items were eligible goods for coupon use.

I just wanted to thank the normal contribution to this thread and site for helping a father still afford gaming.

Through four or five months of finding this site, I've purchased a PS4 and a Wii U Mario Kart Bundle for roughly $300 out of pocket and still have $235 in GS credit.

You guys are awesome and thought I'd just share my appreciation.

I was more referring to the location of the ones that take trade-ins in my area, but your point is certainly valid. I can go to my local Gamestop and get good and fast service with minimal hassle almost every time. I know there are plenty who rag on Gamestop with valid reasons, but Gamestop is hard to beat for trading stuff in. I just wish their pricing was more competitive with Best Buy, etc. I guess you can't have it all, though.

 
If you have GCU, Dark Souls 2 might be a good credit mover. Almost breaks even if it's still $24 base.

I've got over $400 GS credit, so I'm stuck buying it there.

If I have PS+ can I download the PS4 plus games online? Thinking about trading my PS4 towards the Destiny bundle with the 50% bonus. Dont want to miss 2 months worth of games. Should be an even swap after I sell Destiny.

But you should really give Destiny a chance. The alpha played so good.

Yes, you can definitely buy GS gift cards (and Kindle gift cards) with your trade credit.

I love the controller for 360/XB1 because it feels more comfortable due to me having big hands. The real reason though is I bought a 360 first so I played most of my time on that. When I got a PS3, I decided to just make that for exclusives rather than have multi-platform games on both systems. I decided to just keep it the same for this gen. Multi-platform games for the XB1 and only Sony exclusives on PS4. Love all the systems, just makes it easier for me.

The online for x1 and ps4 are negligible now. I haven't experienced any lag on either console. That argument died years ago. If you play with friends I can understand, but they'll both be just as good as the other online.
 
For those of you doing the coupon glitch, it has to be one item for the coupons to stack. You can't buy multiple items. Tried it on two items and only one out of the two $ coupons worked.

This has be known for awhile. The coupon specifically says it's off one item.
 
You could definitely trade in $100 worth of stuff towards a $40 game; you would get the ~$60 difference on a gift card.
And just to confirm, I would still get the 30% (or 40%) bonus on everything I trade in? And I would be trading towards a preorder, anyway, so that's like $5 unless I pay the whole thing off (which I just might do anyway).

Just keep in mind the PS4 will have exclusive content. That, and as was said, the PS4 is the lead platform, so it should have an edge in performance. And PS4 games have been outperforming Xbone games so far, so you may see a difference in quality.

Worth noting that the PS exclusive content is only timed so it'll eventually come to Xbox.

Yes it does. Traded my PS3 two games, an extra controller and a Wii Move adapter and everything had the 30 or 40% attached. Picked up UFC and returning it today.
 
Is Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (mint condition) at $64.99 ($46.79 with bday coupon + PUR) a good deal? My local gamestop has one and I think it'd it be hard to find one complete nowadays for much lower. Tell me what you think! :)
 
I used a b2g1 for some x1 gAmes and decided to return them due to the gamefly sales and the assistant manager said it wAs fine to keep the free game I got.

I would wait a bit and see if the price would drop. Then again if you are in the market and want to play it right away, instead of it going into a back log, then you should go for it.
 
PS4 Console still trading in for $265 today.

Traded it in towards a new one.  Had to pay tax on it (stupid California!), but since it was so cheap on AWD, I still got a brand new PS4 for
 
So, I'm trying to trade in a 3rd generation iPad (16gb) and trying to find the best deal around to trade it in.  I want to use it towards the new ps4 (white bundle).  What's a good course of action that will benefit me the best?  Right now, Gamestop and Best Buy are both offering $160~.  Not sure if that's the best deal around.  Thanks guys.

I say jump on it. For a mint / complete copy that is a good deal. I paid around that much a year ago with b2g1 free deal and have no regrets. This isn't like Xenobalde or Metroid Trilogy that got a reprint so definitley worth the pickup at that price.

Thanks for the input everyone! I had 16,000 points laying around, so I'll knock down the price of the game by another $20 with the $20 off a preowned game. Anyone know if the bday coupon takes 20% off of the original $64.99 price or off the $44.99 after the $20 off coupon?
 
I still have a sealed copy of FE:RD.  Don't want to open it but sooo tempting because I love the FE series.  Just finished the GC version a couple months ago and have played all of the US handheld versions (GBA, DS, 3DS) so far.

I would say it's overpriced as that and the DS remake of 1 are regarded as the two worst FE games. That game was $25 until the 3DS release in 2013 and suddenly the Wii game skyrocketed in price.
