WHEN REPORTING TRADE-IN VALUES PLEASE POST BASE VALUES & SYSTEM IT IS FOR.

First post contains promo information & useful information and frequently asked questions. Second post has the values for games/hardware for Microsoft devices. WHEN POSTING VALUES:

Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

Hmmm with Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition (PS4/X1) having a TIV of $35, I guess that will be the standard TIV for all newly released $59.99 PS4/X1 games?

 
thanks for posting updated ps4/xbone values DealSeeker2U.  As the target $15 promo ends today that window is closing, but tomorrow Best Buy is running a new promo:

$30 off when you buy two of select PS4 games.  The ones twitter posted are Killzone, Knack, Lego Marvel, and NBA 2k14 which will all be $39.99 each ($32 for GCU members).  So for a GCU member it'll be $64-30=$34+tax (-10% if movers coupon).  There will also be other games available for the $30 discount, but we don't know them yet.

Lego Marvel + NBA 2k14 will net you $56.80 at Gamestop and cost you $34, a nice little BB to GS mover if you need.  Knack and Killzone are too low TIVs ($8 each) to be worth it, unless you find used copies at Best Buy and they are really cheap.  Will stop by Best Buy tomorrow and see what other PS4 games are included, MLB 14 would be great since its TIV is so high.

I started using docs.google.com (excel sheet) to track my trades to make sure I am not hitting any limits, and http://m.gamestop.com to verify my trades in the gamestop database.

I wasn't even considering it until I noticed the TIV spike today. The $15 is more than I would get for the 30% preorder promo. I sort of doubt these TIVs will hold until the 50% coupons start on the 25th.

Because companies always seem to shaft us on android by doing iOS exclusive stuff or features on iOS first. Supposedly its coming to android soon
 
Just a heads up, if you are going in to do a 2/$15 bonus on XBO/PS4 games and 30% bonus on other games, do them in separate transactions.

The 30% will override the 2/$15 even if it isn't the better deal.

Well I traded in $500 worth of stuff tonight (though $230 of that was systems), just like old times. Didn't realize it was going to be quite that much but I'm not complaining.

yup you can do a ps4 and xbone game together in one transaction and the register will auto give you the $15 bonus, done a few in the past week. if the employee hesitates and says he's not sure he can take two different systems, just tell him your friend did it fine

 
So if my math is correct, if TiVs stay the same for tomorrow I'm looking at $350 in trade credit and will just be left with digital games on my Vita and PS4 until some of these games go on sale or come down in price.

If I re-buy the games that I haven't finished and still want to own at their current prices, I'll come out with $203 in credit left over from the trade. Not bad.

The funny part is that Android has a nearly 10% lead on iOS in marketshare in the US. Yet iOS gets more support.
Well that's not surprising when iOS had a major head start, is still the first thing people think of when you talk smartphone, is the most coveted brand around the world, and there's still the problem of fractured Android hardware and software. iOS trails behind all of Android combined but still destroys everyone but Samsung head to head. User engagement on iOS is way better than Android meaning ads and applications are more profitable and the user is more likely to buy premium apps. In tablets the gap is even wider than phones.

If you're a developer iOS still has to be your target platform and top priority for most apps.

IBM, which runs the backend for a lot of web stores, reported that iOS accounted for about 18% of all online orders on Black Friday and Cyber Monday last year. Android was under 4%.

That's why retailers often roll out their apps (Target Cartwheel, new GS app, etc.) on iOS first and bringing them to Android in their second deployment wave.

 
i dunno if its worth trading in 3x 4GB vita cards + 8 GB vita card for 25.90 then buying a 16 GB used for 31.50
Well it's worth it as opposed to using all those cards. :shock:

I would personally take the trade credit and put it towards a 32GB instead of a 16GB but that's me.

Well that is what I was getting at and mentioned the user engagement factor. Ads are such a big factor in revenue right now with all the free services and aps and along with being more likely to buy stuff through the phone they're just way more likely to interact with the ads on iOS.

I got the 3x 4 GB for $2 each at k mart and the 8 GB came with the vita lol. I dont even use the 4 GB cards because I dont feel like swapping cards.

Well I personally would either just stay with the 8GB or go up to the 32GB and not even consider the 16GB. I have all digital games on the Vita though and like to have a lot of them loaded at a time.

You could always have them order you a 32GB in that case, will just have to be without for a couple days.

Not sure, the cards aren't listed on the app that I can find. I just took them with me in case.

 
I managed to do one more Target flip today, got 2 copies of COD for XB1, then traded them both into gamestop along with a 4GB vita memory card.

ended up preordering Diablo 3 ultimate for PS4 for 13 cents. :D/

 
traded in all the games I've been stockpiling. ended up with around $450, figured better off to trade them in now instead of waiting for the 50% coupon to go live. 

 
Well, backlogging has finally caught up to me. Back in May when Watch Dogs and Wolfenstein came out, I used a B2G1 coupon and got those two and picked out Ryse to pair with it. Not necessarily the best bargain out there, but I had some credit to burn and the coupon expiring, and they were the only three games I wanted at the time (that I could find used). Well, I finally got to going to play Ryse today, and lo and behold, there was no game. Considering I bought them on May 31st, I knew calling wouldn't do me any good, but did so anyway. Manager said he's had two inventories since then, and didn't have a single X1 game missing.

I'm literally the last guy in the world to resort to believing that the employee duped me and stole the game, but I'm 100% convinced it happened. It literally went from my car to my shelf and has sat there since the day I bought it. Unless someone stole it from my home, it was the employee. And I only point to theft because if it was just a mistake, it would have shown up in an inventory.

I didn't get spurned too bad, considering I did use the B2G1 coupon, but still. Not too thrilled, mostly at myself for not checking the disk. This has me really considering trading in the majority of my backlog, especially with the high values.

that sucks bigtime. A couple weeks ago when the $300 BB trade in glitch happened I bought a 360 from GS and it came with a free preowned game so I grabbed AC Revelations. Well on my way to BB the values nuked so I went to return the system to GS the next day and low and behold...the AC game wasnt in the case. Took 20 minutes for them to inventory everything after basically accusing me of trying to steal a $8 preowned game lol. Needless to say I did not leave a good survey.

Non-wifi version? They're all wifi. There's a 3G capable version of the OLED model but GS just classifies all the OLEDs together and they're $110.

For the moment. I would expect that if demand shifts one way they could separate them (which is why they're set up that way) but that the OLEDs will always be clumped together because there isn't enough difference in demand between the white and black and the 3G (which never took off here).

Most likely, the $30 off will be calculated prior to GCU, so it would be $40+tax at Best Buy for the two games.

Not stating it as fact, just pointing it out as a distinct possibility in case the ~$6 difference affects anyone's plans.
