mole day is coming up, my ap chem teacher is having it this friday, for the real mole day falls on sunday.

he said that you can get up to fifty points, but only if your the best of the best

so i was wondering what i should do? anybody got any bright ideas?

if i use yours thank you so much

haha we had to do that in high school chemistry. My teacher made us make mole dolls.....

As for ideas, place a giant mole on your face? Sry if that's kinda lame but that's all I got

Ah...mole day projects...did mine last year

What i did was I went to a craft store and bought a cheap blue t-shirt, and some gel paint and wrote on both sides.

Side one said mole day 05, had the date, and a peridic table "box" for hydrogen, which had the name, letter, number, atomic mass, ect.

Second side was 3 Q & A, with things like "what is a mole?", "WHat is advogadros (sp) number?", ect.

Just show up to class wearing this shirt, and you will be in good shape.

Is this the Avacado's Number mole? That one ;) ? Hahaha, wow, the lame jokes my chem teachers used to make are coming back to me....

bump for cooler ideas, i need something really big, liek awesome, i want to go down im my high schools memory for being the coolest mole day project

What i did was i made a YarMOLEke....lol didnt really have to do anything...put the top half of the cloth mole on top of my head and walked into class.

Why not go to your class dressed up as Avogadro? I have no idea what the guy looked like, but if you went with something that said 16th century (or whenever) white guy, that would probably do it.

Or maybe you could give your teacher 6.02 x 10^23 of something...

ok, first time on today, 6.02x10^23 is a lot of one thing, can someone do a photoshop thing for me? i want to get a picture of my teacher, and make it like a mole is sitting on top of his shoulder, then write mole day 2005 on it in a cool but readable font, and i will frame this picture, and let him keep it

is any body willing to do thsi for me? PM me or AOL IM me at fphilcv

if you do this, i will be forever greatful

The real mole day is June 2.

Unless you're lame, in which case it's February 6.

If you're celebrating it on Friday, it becomes no different than Boltzmann's Day.
6.02x10^23 is a lot of one thing
yes, that's why it was a JOKE...I mean, you'd think a guy who has any idea who Avogadro is would KNOW that, wouldn't you?

omg, high school memories. For mole day at my school, some people brought guacomole (haha...?) and chips, other people drew pictures of moles (lame!), and other people put a fake mole on themselves.
Get a mole of sand. That's what I did (obviously approximate)
That's a hell of a feat; see below. Not trying to be a smart-ass, BTW; your post actually got me curious as to just how much sand that was.

"A number as large as Avogadro's number is difficult to comprehend, but the following example is often quoted to give an indication of exactly how large this number is. When standing on a beach with an uninterrupted view to the horizon both left and right, the number of sand grains that are present are still not enough to make one mole of sand grains. Another way of looking at this would be to consider an Avogadro's number of soft drink cans: if they were stacked together, they would cover the entire surface of the earth to a depth of 200 mi (322 km)."

Really? I had looked in the textboook
Maybe I'm not remembering correctaly. How much is a mole of water molecules?

We hung a big pinata in our lab (not a mole just some other animal) and hit it with bats. Then we ate the candy inside. Good times were had by all.

mole day mole day it comes once a year
i wish i was 21 so i could celebrate with beers
im underage and its mole day. whats there to do?
i bring in some chips and that guacamol too
but when i bring that shit in people double dip
its really gross eating someone elses spit
i wanna slap them whenever they DD
but i get the last laugh cuz they ate my PP
no ones gots skillz to spit like me
im rhyming about mole day cant you see?
so just sit down and enjoy my lines
because youll never be able to match my rhymes

just spit that in front of your class.

You know, I can't remember how to figure that out...you'd have to do some calculation involving the atomic weights of hydrogen and oxygen and some sort of volume calculation, right? Anyone still taking chemistry want to help with this (OP?)?

I remember this. We also celebrated Pie (Pi) day in my geometry class. A bunch of kids brought in pies and we ate them. Best math class ever.

Hmm, too bad your math class never celebrated the number "e"...
Tell him that real Chemists don't give a damn about mol day and laugh in his face.
My coworker's line was "it's a paycheck, not a lifestyle."

I remember Pi day. only day of math worth anything. seriously. my senior year i had three math classes... each one celebrated pi day. you do the math... cuz i hate it.

From the moleday link: "For example, the water molecule has an atomic mass of 18, therefore one mole of water weighs 18 grams."

i say you get to class 5 minutes early, and hang yourself from the ceiling with a noose. When your classmates and teacher see your dead body hanging from the ceiling, you'll be the talk of the school for atleast 2 days. Your classmates will be telling all of their friends.. "hey did u hear about the kid that hung himself 2 days before mole day?... yea the kid in my chemistry class... u know the creepy one that sat in the back... yea yea! the one that weezed!.. yea that kid was hardcore!"

psh let those assholes try and top that one next year, right? now get out there and make a name for yourself!

(wear a nametag just incase nobody in your class knows who you are)

Then I guess based on the size of the check 25% of his life isn't worth very much to him.;)

Most jobs seem to be that way, but if it gives you a chance to mock the education system why not take it?

ok, i made a mole lego guy, a picture to embarass my teacher, and i wore my mole helmet, and i rode my unicycle around the school the whole day

all day i got these weird (good? cool?) looks, and people kept telling me to ride my unicycle, i think i was successful, some say i went overboard, but i didn't know what we had to do to get full extra credit points

I always took the more direct route when insulting my teachers. I think that's why my french teacher failed me. That or I just sucked at french, one or the other.
