Unfortunately it is considered a "purchase" instead of a redeemable code. I didn't want to input my credit card info because I know that once that free month runs out, Microsoft will start auto charging me.

You can turn off the auto-renew. It's pretty easy.
 
Good thing I just renewed my XBL 30 ****ing minutes ago. :(

$2 for 2 months though, I'd be pissed off if I spent more.
 
I just installed the Paramount app. earlier this week. My Gold expires in about 2 weeks. I'll be looking to get this if a better dashboard deal doesn't come along. :)
 
Wow, this'll make 3 months of Live I've gotten for free thanks to promotions. I honestly don't see why people pay for Live anymore.
 
Thanks OP! My live expires today too! I will probably use the promotion soon. Currently playing some single player games and don't play online much for a while.
