Optimus Prime - 20th Anniversary - $50 shipped at Amazon

Is this better than the original metallic Optimus Prime Generation 1 figure? That to me is like the most perfect toy of all time.

I own one of these from years ago, and the thing is awesome. Easily the best Optimus Prime ever made.
is this the heavy version or the cheap plastic version?
This is the heavy, metal version. It weighs about 2.5 pounds and stands just under a foot tall in robot mode.

The design behind this was to make a figure that looked as much like Prime in the television show as possible, in both the truck and robot modes. He's also very posable, with joints at the shoulders, elbows, knees, thighs, and ankles, a swiveling waist, and even individually posable fingers. You can also open up his chest and pull out the Matrix.

I paid full price several years ago and don't regret it.

Man, good deal. I wish I could afford one of these right now! I have 3 of the older versions of this toy (Japanese, American, and Japanese "Ultra Magnus" white) and this is THE Optimus Prime toy. I'm not sure how the new one's paintjob is different from before but they could pain the thing lime green and it would still be awesome.

I absolutely love mine. I paid 70 at Target about 2 years ago and it's definitely worth it. I can't wait for Masterpiece Starscream and Megatron. *drooool*

I just saw this at my Target in Melbourne, FL for $50. They had like 5 in stock. That wasn't a clearance price either. I told my wife to grab it for me for xmas.

I was thinking about getting the (superior) Takara one but for $50 and with a stand (I hear the voice chip sucks since it's not the original actor), I can't pass this up.

In for one! Thanks Cheapy!:)
omg i love you. this was $90 at TRU and $70 at target. DEFINITELY a good price, this toy is awesome!
I'll wait for TRU to blow these out. Every large transformer TRU sells I've seen blown out at 50% off.

I am very tempted to get this but here is the one I really want.

2 things would make this worth buying.

1. if optimus had the matrix of leadership inside his chest that you could take out.

2. if they had a megatron figure for him to fight against because id buy both of them if they sold them but just one eh not too interested.

i actually lucked out and found a complete original optimus a few years back but i got bored with it after a while and sold it to someone else for more than i paid. toys are cool when it bring back old feelings and memories but you hit an age where theyre too much of a hassle to keep. at least comics you can read.

The matrix is removeable...see photo below...

Also, keep in mind that the voice on the recordings is not Peter Cullen, in other words, they are not the original dialogue recordings from the movie. There are a lot of folks on various TF boards who are complaining about that. I don't think that's a showstopper in my opinion.

Unfortunately already bought this at Target for 70, worth every penny though so no complaints . Already have Megatron on Preorder, damn these masterpieces are getting expensive fast.

Where did you preorder it at?
WOW!!!

Is that Megatron going to be painted? I sure hope that's just an early picture...
Those pictures did come from a hobby model site so it's possible some assembly is required but I highly doubt it. Most likely a prototype.

What I find really strange is that Megatron comes with a Kremzeek (A character from one of the worst episodes, in my opinion).

Is there a Hasbro version of the trailer? I like everything to be from the same company...:)

The best place to get rare and hard to find TFs are Bigbadtoystore.com but they're pretty expensive.

Hobby Link Japan, though looking at them now looks like they stopped at some point and won't accept anymore until next week for Megatron.
yeah ok i want megatron and starscream where can you order those in america?
Bigbadtoystore.com is a good site to get Transformers stuff. It can be quite pricey for imports though.

Masterpiece Starscream - $109.99

Masterpiece Megatron - $99.99
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10668&mode=retail

Masterpiece Ultra Magnus - $139.99
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10305&mode=retail

Masterpiece Optimus Prime (complete) - $160-189

If anybody does order Masterpiece Megatron, be sure to order it from a place that won't add an orange cap to it (damn US safety laws).

This is probably the best price you'll pay for a 20th Anniversary Prime, the original versions are long OOP and the Japanese Masterpiece Convoy will run you a pretty penny. The colors on this release are brighter than the previous releases though.

But I took the extra cheap route and just bought Classics Prime for $20 :p. Oh and Prime being repainted into Ultra Magnus has been happening for years, blame the comic book.
I got this and my only complaint is the smoke stacks they are too short. Check out my blog, http://mygunplamodels.blogspot.com/ and scroll down to about the middle of the page to see the mod that i did to the smokestack. Great figure nonetheless.
I'll also vouch on this, the smokestacks the figure comes with are a complete joke. I spent 14 off ebay just to get longer ones and it was worth every penny.
