Origin of Woot

Shakespeare coined the term "woot" and it was first used in Hamlet, when Hamlet states, "show me what thou'lt do: Woo't weep? woo't fight? woo't fast? woo't tear thyself? Woo't drink up eisel? eat a crocodile? I'll do't."

There's a few supposed origins. More commonly I've heard it began as a gaming acronym for "We Owned the Other Team", or "WOnderful loOT" (Everquest).

Also, I've heard that s'kiddie l33t for "root" UNIX access.

The Shakespeare usage suggests a contraction of words with no correlation to the modern term. To me it has always just suggested the phoneticized version of a triumphant shout.
