I've taken the FAQ from the other thread & pretty much just pasted it here without any changes made to it. You can find this FAQ at the bottom of this thread past the game list. The first list is the current game list. The second list is the original clearance list.

Consider yourself lucky if you find any titles from the second list, also most everything on the second list should be a big YMMV as most of those titles are now out of the system &/or have been pretty much bought up by everyone by now.

Alrighty then, here is the new and improved Kmart Clearance list. All titles are in alphabetical order according to their platform. The listings will be as follows: UPC - Game Title - Price.

Any game title that I've put in BOLD is missing the full 12 digit UPC & is represented with zeros. Any missing info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the prices will be listed according to info I get from inventories. However, if 3 people can confirm the same price on a certain game, then I'll change the listed price to reflect it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as much as possible.

All updates on pricing will be done as I find them and/or posts from you guys/gals. I just updated some prices for select games that I found recently. Any price that I just changed has a v next to the price. There may still be a few prices out of whack, but for the most part they're current.

Remember if you have a UPC that we need please PM me so I may update the zeroed UPC's. Thank you to everyone contributing info in this thread!

Below you will find another game list. This is the original clearance list that should mostly be YMMV by now. All prices below are the last known prices reported, but many are out of the system and will now depend on the employee you get, the tag on the game and your own negotiating skills.
I've not included UPC's, but I do have most of them & can add them later if there is enough demand for them. Good luck finding anything on this list!;)

FAQ

Q: Why was this thread created?
A: Because there are multiple threads floating around, and its useful to consolidate. THis one will have the OP constantly updates so you don't have to go digging.

Q: Are these prices YMMV?
A: No, they shouldn't be. I currently have 10 K-Marts in my shopping radius, and they've all been consistent. At one time it was thought that they were YMMV, but I'm pretty sure it was instead employee incompetence at keeping prices updated.

EDIT: Some people are reporting prices that are YMMV, but I am hesitant to mark the deal as such. If you get a different price, it seems to be the exception to the rule, not a true YMMV where it is hit or miss. I'd say these prices are 90% accurate.

Q: An employee said the price was higher than what's on the list.
A: Get the game scanned at the register.

Q: The employee got that price gun and said it was higher than what's on the list.
A: GET THE GAME SCANNED AT THE REGISTER. The gun is incorrect sometimes.

Q: Can I use the price checker thingies?
A: YES! Brilliant idea! They will give you an accurate price. Also, if you have the problem of useless employees not opening the cases for you, you can print off the UPC codes and check them at the price checker.

Q: How can I help?
A: Multiple ways:
- Get a job at K-Mart so we have an inside man
- Post the prices of the games you get
- Write down the prices of games you do not get, then post those too

Q: When are items marked down?
A: Once a month, near the middle of the month.

Q: Does this have anything to do with the weekend 50% off sales K-Mart usually runs?
A: No. While some of these games used to be on the list, this is completely seperate. None of these games are on the 50% list anymore and will not be reduced during these sales.

Q: What if I bought a game at a higher price and it gets reduced? Can I get a price adjustment or a return/rebuy?
A: Chances are VERY SLIM. K-Mart does not do price adjustments on clearance items. A return/rebuy might be possible, but most Kmarts do not employee people with the mental capacity to fully understand this concept.

Q:Can I price check the games without getting into the cases?
A: Yes, thanks to this UPC document from TimTucker. You can scan these at self scanners located in most K-Marts, but note that sometimes prices may not be accurate
Old Link: http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs.doc
New Current Link http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs_2.doc

Q: What if the price is higher than what's on the list?
A: Then your store has not done markdowns left. Ask them if they have any pending PCLs and perhaps they can do it for you, or just wait it out. Also, you could try a return/rebuy if you have another local store that did the drops. Use the UPC sheet to check this

Q: What if a price doesn't come up? It says "Check shelf tag for pricing".
A: This means that the game was at 90% off, and for some reason it was scheduled to be marked down further. If you have a cool employee, you can get games for cheap. If you have a game with outdated tags, you could be in for a hassle. This is similiar when Target marks things down for salvage.

Q: Are these markdowns YMMV?
A: NO. These are universal nationwide prices. If you arent getting them, its your stores problem and doesnt indicate a larger problem as a whole.

Q: How are things marked down?
A: AFAIK, it can be done manually via gun, or it can be done en masse at the register. If you want further details, we are currently looking for a CAG to take one for the team and get a job at K-Mart to infiltrate and learn their secret methods.

Q: What games will drop further?
A: As a GENERAL RULE, games at 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 are at 90% off AND WILL NOT DROP FURTHER. Games ending in .99 will drop 2 bucks at a time in random intervals.

Q: What do I do with all these games?
A: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...ad.php?t=95481
I finally scored something at Kmart since the last clearance few months ago.

Starfox Adventures (GC) $2
Dragonball Z Budoaki 2 (GC) $3
NFL Street 2 (XBOX) $2

The nice cashier gave me the Starfox Adventures for $2 after a short chat with him (it rang up as Price Required).

The Starfox Adventures has a "BONUS Star Fox Adventures Official Nitendo Power Player's Guide with the purchase of this game" image printed on the cover (not sticker) as "Kmart Exclusive". What's it? A separate guide that you get free with this game? I don't think Kmart carries this guide any more.
That's funny because I found one Kmart (back in July) that had a stack of the StarFox Adventures guides. After about 1/2 hour of fussing, they finally came back with the price of 10 cents :D. They didn't have the game though.

I'm pretty sure I've checked a few DBZ Budokai 2 for GC and they came up $19.99 (ie, rang up that way). I'll have to check again. After your post in the EB thread I saw they trade for $8 at EB - that's better than most of the other Kmart games!

It was bundled with the guide. A few other games were like that as well. It sounds like the guide either became seperate from the game at the store either by accident or intentionally.

Move out old product which is taking up real estate within the store, so you are able to place new inventory which will sell. That's the theory.
I understand why they clearance things, but im saying since there is so much stuff that winds up selling for $2, isn't that a loss?

Maybe there are things i don't know about behind the scenes. If they buy a game from publisher for $45 when its MSRP is $49.99 and it sits on the shelf for years and eventually sells for $2 - they are out $43 i would think.

They're out alot more then 43 dollars if it sits there for several years. The longer it sits there, the longer it's taking up space for a game that could make them money, and the longer they go without getting any money for the 45 they spent on it.
The reason they sell it for 2 dollars is simple. Would you rather get 45 dollars back never, or 2 dollars now?

I don't disagree. My whole point was why does Kmart have a video games section when it seems to not really make them any money.

They probably do as fine as any other section of the store, the thing everyone forgets about retail is that all these stores do like 80% of their buisness in less then 3 months. Losing their investment on two or three dozen titles for a system that sit there for 3 years is acceptable if you're moving bigger ticket items, even with small profit margins, in good volume for a short period. After all when your WalMarts, Best Buys and Circuit Citys are out of what your kid wants for Christmas this is the kid of place you're going, and probably finding, what you're looking for.

Then it's like everything else in retail where you say "OK, we're going to make little to nothing on this stuff. What we're going to do is push the accesories, impulse buys and all the things you didn't know you wanted or needed that we make 400% on."

Same reason that Macy's sells toasters. It's just a service to their customers. 'Hey, I can get this all in one place'

Nabbed Advent Rising for $5 at the Rockford, IL location (Sandy Hollow Road, for those near enough by). They have three Taiko Drum Maters, but they scan at $25. The *exceptionally* helpful asst. manager I got said, "Can't beat that!" when it scanned. When I told him that people had been finding it for $5, he actually called two other stores to confirm. Both of those stores had it at $50, but he was perfectly willing to take a Lincoln for it if he got some confirmation. After reading some of the horror stories in this thread, this guy was a godsend.

And yes, it was a store with a decent amount of traffic, and the games department was more-or-less properly faced and tagged. Their parking lot looks like the surface of the moon, it's across the street from a trailer park, and I had someone beg me for change as I was leaving, but the store itself was solid. :D
Oh how I hate thee and thine tale of helpful workers willing to sell you things for whatever you tell them.
It was a pretty groovy thing. Woulda been more so if he'd actually sold me the game at that price.
I don't disagree. My whole point was why does Kmart have a video games section when it seems to not really make them any money.
Pheared gave a parallel with Target. What draws some people into Target is toys, which apparantly produce a low profit margin for them. BUT, it draws people into the stores and a lot of people once in a store, will decide to do other necessary or impulsive buying whilst they are theree.

What makes me curious is the fact that most of the Kmart associates have mentioned that having the Kenmore appliances and Craftsman tools have been bringing in a good number of customers. If this is the case nationally, I'm curious how the look of the store will change in years to come (ie, what departments will shrink or disappear)? I used to love the Sears Toy Catalog every Christmas, but I can't recall seeing a toy department in a Sears for over... 12 years?
Weren't me (it was phaer3d), but it sounds like something I might have thought of .

I love my local Kmarts, where some games are priced right in the clearance, while some others are NOT. I picked up the following tonight:

Edwardsville, PA Kmart:

Taiko Drum Master:$5
Clancy Trilogy(which I sped over to a local GS and swapped for $14 something):$4

I also had the clerk scan a copy of Mercenaries for Xbox, which WAS at $2 at other Kmarts I'd been to recently, but it was $10. I only wanted it for trade fodder though, as I have it already(THANK YOU July 4th CC Sale).

Aside from the single Clancy Trilogy and Taiko, there were several more copies of Taiko Drum Master, as well as PacMan World 2 and NamcoMuseum($4 each), but not a whole hell of a lot more.

I also stopped by the Kmart on Rte. 309 in Wilkes Barre, they had ONE Taiko in stock and a Time Crisis Crisis Zone($6). I didn't get either. Not much of anything else worthwhile THERE either.

BTW, didn't Rise Of The Kasai(the other game in the Mark Of Kri series) drop to under $10 a while back, as I've seen that locally a bunch of places recently.

I am going to trade in some games I bought from Kmart at Gamestop. How do you (anyone) normally trade them in? Do you leave them in the original wrapping or take them out? What about mulitple copies of one game? Also, about the Tom Clancy 3-in-1, do you trade it in as-is (in the new box), or take them out and trade in each game seperately with no box. Thank you for your time.

I would take the wrapping off. Check the wiki before you go, so you can make sure you really want to trade it in.

I'm not sure about multiple copies. I'm sure you can do it but probably isn't a great idea to do all the time.

With the triple pack, take all three games out and trade them individually. If you take the case in they will do it as one game. By trading them in disc only you get the 3 and $10 on top of a buck (?) each.
I'm not sure but I think every time there is an official price drop the store gets reimbursed for thier lose.
they call it the price protection, and my bro said that ALOT of stores do not have this, including the store he runs. so if Dragon Quest 8 became $29.99, then they just lost 20% or more of what they paid for it. really sucks for them, because that low profit margin (less than 5% at most new games) has gone even worst. what they try to do most the time is to just keep the title at full price or if it doesnt even sell at all they try to sell them on amazon just to get some of that money back. its either money now or no money at all. thats why when a sale comes (not every often) of games from distributors, they go crazy.

i remember him telling me that they've ordered the Halo 2 special edition (the tin box) for so cheap that they've ordered 2 boxes full of them, at least 200 or so copies. they sold them at amazon at a very cheap price, of course there was profit there, but they outdo all the other amazon stores because of their cheap price. sometimes they would even go as far as china or japan to get a new game, cause the price is much better wholesale than those in the U.S. Accessories is even better, remember the Katana for Onimusha 3 that was made by Hori? they were able to get that cheap, they now get pretty much 50% profit from it. theres really no other stores that have them, so they kept the 99.99 price tag. im sure this is how Gamequestdirect do their business. either that or they're CAG lurkers trying to buy every game thats cheap :)
I will happily pay anyone back if they can get me the Taiko Drum Master and EyeToy for $5 each... Any takers?
The taiko drum master might cost you twice that to ship it.

Ok, but I don't know who thinks "OMG. XXX game just came out. I better run to Kmart to get it!" For me, Kmart does not equal video game store( well, besides getting $2 games now  )

Yikes!! My mistake. Lemme fix it.

Anyway, went to kmart today to get 1 game to complete a set of 3 before heading over to Gamestop ( same shopping center ) and wound up getting a lot more - some things finally dropped there, like Oddworld and Tom Clancy Trilogy.

TC Trilogy - $4
Eye toy groove w camera x 2- $3
Oddworld Strangers Wrath - $3
Getaway BM - $3
Sims Ps2 - $2
DBZ : Budokai 2 - $3 ($8 at Gamestop, w00t)

And yet it does happen - I saw a guy buy Lego Star Wars II at full price for his kids the other day when I was buying $2 games :D.

Has anyone else got DBZ 2 for $3? Damn i saw a bunch of these awhile back but its about 40 mile drive, don't know if its worth it...I already have enough for the Wii...Maybe i should start flipping for a PS3:lol:

it ain't enough till you wipe out every shelf.

So I went a little crazy. But hey I'm a cheap ass like everyone else. Took my confusing 4 pages of excel sheets to 3 local Kmarts. WOW never really did this before. The pages helped some but was very confusing when you have 4 pages of 4 different game systems with very similar games. ANYWHO, here's what I got this evening, not bad! Had to haggle a little with the last one in Annadale, VA. Closing time and had to call over the manager, still worth the hassle, I guess?

I pretty much stuck with the XBOX titles because they seemed to ring up close to orginial prices!

Most of mine will probably stick with me or show up on SwitchDiscs.com. Haven't really got into the trading here. But might start with these?

A lot of the games at the 3rd one look over priced. Lemony Snicket, Medal of Honor Frontline and Midway Arcade Treasures were all $2 at one point before going out of the system and Backyard Wrestling 2 should have been $1.50
It was $2 a couple months ago. It's probably out of the system by now.
It rang up 1¢ at a Kmart the other day, so the girl priced it at 2.00 for me.

So I went to piclk up some games at my local Kmart as usual Note that I've been going for the past 5 months regularly to see what they have.

I find some games, Tiger Woods DS, Mechassault 2, Eye Toy Groove Bundle, Enter the Matrix

It all rings up as it's supposed to.

Then the manager comes.

He checks the prices, and he's like, and I quote," Anything under $14.99 that's clearenced will be sold at $49.99"

I tell him that's bullshit, if it rings up at that price, just sell it to me, but no.

I am so fucking pissed right now :bomb:

This was at the Staten Island Kmart near Pathmark and the Costco BTW
Time to start looking for drops. If they are still following schedule, tomorrow is a possibility, as well as the 16th

Dave
I got a feeling they won't drop til next week, as that glitch really messed up the prices and it took some places a week to get them sorted out.

Will games like 'Pac-man World 2' at $4, drop again? or will they go out of the system?. Because I've seen a few but don't really think it's worth the $4 price, so I'm hoping it will be like $2 at the next price drop.

You should call the Corporate office.

I feel your pain. Similar thing happened to me, but I got to walk away with the games that rung up with a price. I understand stores have their secretive policies, but if they are not presented to the consumer they should be invalid at time of purchase.

I would definately take shieryda's advice and report the manager. Customer satisfaction is key, especially with K-Mart being at the low end of the totem pole in the retail market. These fuckers will never learn. Why do they think Wal-Mart is such a powerhouse? Besides low prices they try their hardest to make the customer happy.

.... from your cell phone in the store, if possible. Walk away, and the mgr might buy them for themselves.

Earlier I posted about the soflines mgr who called this clearnace list "fraudulent" but the stuff I bought had even been correctly priced! (Wavbird/metroid bundles @ $20 ea)

WTF? The one on Richmond Avenue? I was just there 3 days ago! Some worker there actually helped me by opening all of the glass cases and letting me take my time. My haul:

Mech Assault $2 (came with 2 month Xbox Gold!)
LOTR: Third Age Xbox x 2 $2
Metal of Honor Frontline $2 (pennied out, he gave it to me for $2)
Ghost Recon $2

BTW don't go to the GameStop next to CC on Richmond Ave. Some stupid bimbo there insisted the 3/$10 ended last week. I ended up going to a GS in Manhattan as I work there.

Darn, I hate I missed this one. Anyone happen to pick up an extra copy of the Street Fighter Collection? Our Kmart has little to no games on the list.

I was shopping at the Deptford, NJ KMart and found a HUGE addition to the master list. I picked up a copy of Mario Power Tennis for the GC, thinking it would ring up $24.99 or something like that, but instead, to my surprise, it rings up $5! I almost did a dance of joy right there in the store. I'm not sure if this is across the board considering they still had Budokai 2 ringing up @ $15 (which annoyed me to no end considering I had another reciept from the Moorestown, NJ KMart same day and everything which had it a $3. I even asked for a price match and they said they didn't do that even between KMarts ).

BUT, the important part is Mario Power Tennis is $5 at KMart. The most amazing price for a rare game I have ever seen!

Mario Tennis isn't rare, but $5 is a great price. Hell, I just sold one here for $20 (sorry!). I'm going to try and grab one this thursday if it's confirmed by someone else.

Some of these employees act like the money from selling the games is coming out of their pocket. I can't believe they'd rather throw it away/let it languish on the shelf instead of selling it for $2.

There was still stuff at Moorestown? this is why I ought to go with a list.

I did return 4 wavbird/metroid combos there, and there were still three as of last week.

No kidding.

This happens to me practically everywhere I go. My local K-Mart, SEARS, TRU, and Hasting are all way behind on their sticker prices. So when I go up to the register with a game or two and tell them I'd like to check the price, they usually roll their eyes  and then stare in amazment  when the price comes up about $20 cheaper than what's on the sticker. Then I sit there for 5 minutes while they scrutinize the package and the screen looking for some kind of mistake or something. :whistle2:k

Finally they shoot me some funny look like I'm robbing the store  or something and let me on my way. Good grief, you'd think they were selling games out of their own personal collections or something.

(/rant)

Yeah and to think this is all because the store refuses to change the price tags (for various reasons).

I get that all the time as well, except they usually just stare at the screen with a blank stare and then you pay, i never had anyone try to dispute a price that rings up in the register with me.

You should have seen the face of the cashier when i bought chibi robo at sears for 14.99 and it had a 49.99 price sticker on it , a full 35$ discount!

The funny thing i find about sears is how rude employees are, i mean they are not rude to the customer but they just stand there and do nothing most of the time and sometimes argue about their personal lives and stuff going on at work right when there are about 5-10 customers in the department waiting to be helped, i have been through many sears stores and this is the case in most. Also sears seems to have tons of employees but they still dont change the price tags until months have passed for a certain clearance, oh well more games for me!

This is probably a dumb question, but I will ask anyway.

Do additional games get clearanced or are the games that are listed in the first post all that will be price dropped? Also do stores by chance restock the games, or are they all gone once they've all been sold? Basically i'm asking is it worth it to go back to the same store if there weren't many games left?
