People join me, lets murder our backlogs!!

CAGiversary!
im sure im not alone when i say i have a hugeeeeee backlog. going from snes to ps1, ps2, dreamcast, xbox, pc and now the xbox360. first thing is first, i'll start with my smallest backlog categories (360 and PC) the others are far to huge to attempt to deal with at this time. i have about 15 pc and 360 games and ive only beaten 1 xbox360 game (army of two) so im going to choose one of these 360 games with some help from you guys hopefully and feel free to join in with your backlog lists and lets handle this business.

top 5 xbox 360 games i need to finish
1- the darkness (about 30% complete)
2- COD4 (about 75% complete)
3- condemned 2 (haven't started yet)
4- saints row (about 25% complete)
5- burnout paradise (about 30% complete)

im really leaning toward COD4, such a great game, i've been playing online instead of finishing single player.

We had an older backlog thread that kinda died out. I think some of us got depressed when we saw how long our backlogs really were.

Okay, taking suggestions... I really do intend to play through all of these eventually, I just have barely any free time and go through games really slowly. Not to mention the bad habit of continuing to buy new games even though my backlog is already ridiculous.

Whittled down your list to stuff that is more important to play. The rest can be sold off.

Not planning to sell anything off unless I try it and don't enjoy it... but I'm also not planning to move on to :360: and :ps3: until, oh, maybe 2012. :) That should give me some time to catch up.

How is buying your games for the 2nd time in the row going to make you happy? That's usually what happens to me when I sell a game prematurely.

nah eff that...

dont buy new games, that's the smarter option!!!

im with you Ryuu, i have every intention of beating the games in my backlog then maybe selling the ones i know i wont play anymore. if i were you id tackle ICO first, the game is short and sweet, get that out the way first. you also reminded me i need to finish FFX-2, im like 35% complete.

Yup, I was going to suggest the same thing from Ryuukishi's list. I'm someone who plays games very slowly, and I knocked Ico out in a couple days. Plus, it's a fantastic game. After that, I'd jump right back into Shadow of the Colossus.

As far as your list, sublime, go with your leaning- finish up COD4 first. Shouldn't take long if you're already at 75%, and it will give you a feeling of accomplishment to have shaved one title from your backlog list. After that, the next one I'd go with is Saint's Row. (Then refrain from buying Saint's Row 2 until you've knocked out at least one or two more from your backlog  )

[quote name='JEKKI']nah eff that...

The Jekki is wise.

Cut down on the amount of games you buy, tell yourself you won't buy a new game until you've cleared at least 2 games from your backlog.

Premature game selling leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, hatred leads to suffering.

But a main course leads to a dessert :bouncy:

No free time, slow to get through games, and RPGs are not things that mesh well, which is what most of your backlog seemed to be. Like someone else suggested, play the worthwhile ones.

My backlog isn't that big, I just never find myself wanting to go back. Off the top of my head I can think of:

Bully
Saints Row
GTAIV
Kameo
Prey
Lost Planet

What kills me are the open world games. They're too expansive, too much to do and practically murder your free time. You have to do to much to fully enjoy the game. I'm not saying that I want a six-hour game or anything, but I'm getting overwhelmed by all these types of games.

i just beat COD4 and thats one of the best games i ever played, loved the characters and i completely enjoyed it! loved the ending, might go back to get some achievements . right now im juggling 2 games. im on act 4 of gears of war for PC and im playing the COD world at war beta. loving both.

This is how I beat a hundred game backlog. You will not miss these games, trust me.

The absolute best thing I could do for my gaming habits was to whittle down to a single console and only allow myself two uncompleted games at a time (the game I'm working on, and one open slot in case an amazing deal pops up).

Forcing yourself to grind through these games will make you hate them.
