These are the only real game price changes, also the PNT price tends to be a little less than standard retail, so a game might be $29.79 instead of $29.99... i just didn't feel like typing that out for every title. Also it is up to the store to price it, these are just suggested by corporate.

I will try to do this daily for you guys. If you wish to find your closes PNT store check the store locater at www.playntrade.com

I have a Play N Trade in my town. I actually really like the vibe of the store. The cool thing is the franchising company I work for is considering opening a store out in San Francisco, and I may spend some time working for its development.

You know when I heard of Play N Trade I thought of that thread. Had no idea that was you. You might note that Sonic Riders on Wii isn't out till January. Kinda cool it comes out at a budget price. It'll be awesome if you can keep this thread updated with price drops, sometimes I feel like I'm bugging the guy who owns the store around here.

A PnT store just opened up near me and it looks like a pretty good store. Decent prices and the employees are surprisingly friendly and knowledgeable compared to the local Gamestop employees. And it's the only store in the area that carries classic stuff like NES, Saturn, and PS1 games.

I swear, the local PnT store gets half of their new games form the Target clearance section though (which is right down the road from them). I'd go in there and see a bunch of new games being displayed that weren't there the week before that all happened to be on the Target clearance list. Coincidence?

Possible, you never know but typically they get them through a vendor so getting games clearance doesn't really help you make money. Might just be to fill the store up because it takes a while to get inventory up and running.

You guys need to open a store in Iowa, in Des Moines preferably! We have a very booming downtown area that's causing a big surge in population!

I wish more people would choose to open shop here. I mean, Meijer's, Fry's, Whole Foods, Circuit City... all these places have locations around Iowa but none inside. I have no idea why that's the case. I'm very much positive that you would make a profit here. Please take it into consideration!

Thats not how it works. Play N Trades are independently owned, you could buy into the franchise and open one in Iowa if you wanted to though.

Ahh, sorry for my ignorance. I hope to see one here soon, and if not, perhaps in the future I will make an attempt at opening one, since it looks like you guys have great pricing and benefits from opening a franchise store (that low royalty is especially enticing). Perhaps I'll consider it once I'm out of college. ;)

A PNT opened in my city just this summer. I really like the place. It's well organized, friendly employees (2 of them used to work at GC actually) good prices and deals (just got 40% off a used game by bringing in my report card. 10% of per A, max 40%), and good selection considering the size of my city. Good job on the franchise!

I love the Play N Trade in Layton, Utah. Much nicer than the Gamestop employees. I highly recommend them as well.

Just wanted to say that the play n trade in La Crecenta and Buena Park are pure class. :applause:

I could buy games from Costco and wait in a 500 item line to save $3 or I could go in PnT for all of 2 minutes with no upsell spiels and my game in hand.

Please don't ever change!:bouncy:

No offense, but the Play N Trade's prices on classic games that are desireable suck balls. They're all right, but you can do massively better on Ebay. Still, a good solution for those who want to buy locally.

Still waiting for the one in Pembroke Pines to open here (it's been Coming Soon for a while now), so could you give some of us a bit of an example?

Final Fantasy Anthology was 29.99. It's an all right price for those who don't want to use Ebay or the internet.
I don't know if all of the stores have the same pricing or not, but this store seems to be taking advantage of the fact that there's barely any places to buy PSone, N64, Super Nintendo, Genesis and etc titles.

Found out about you guys on the Game Theory Podcast, and now this thread.

I'm interested in your retail philosophy, and wish you the best of luck!

If any store opens near me, I'll definitely check it out.

When the one at Short Pump here in VA opens, I may have to check it out. Still a little bit of a drive, but it may be worth it at least once.

 ditto. ditto. ditto.

Checked the website and it looks like the closest one is Lexington. Bummer. I guess that was a good decision though as it is a college town and nothing more. So you've nailed the demographic.

Louisville could really use a store though. :)

Is there a coming soon section on the site I missed?

Maybe not as good as Ebay, but they're a lot better than Gamestop's prices when they were selling classic stuff.

...I fucking hate you.

OP, are you sure that price for Sonic Riders ZG is for the Wii version? I know the PS2 version is going to be priced around $30, but $28 for the Wii version sounds like a steal!

Wouldn't be surprised if it was because Sega's most likely trying not to mass produce copies up the ass for the game, seeing as how one could still find the previous title just about everywhere.

I have a play n trade in my town as well. The thing that struck me is that they base their buy and sell prices off of Gamestop and usually beat them by a buck or so. The thing is if I want Gamestop-like prices I will go to Gamestop. Their selection is a whole lot bigger in my opinion and I can probably find everything I am looking for (not that I go there much, I hate Gamestop).

Based on the two replies above, I'd say the pricing varies from store to store, at least at my store.
I'm not opposed to Play N Trade. I think a store that can be franchised and sells older games with a focus on tournaments is a great idea.

There are four Play N Trades in our area now - two in Cary, one in Raleigh and one in Garner, NC.

I currently work at the store in Cary (Stone Creek Village) and am happy to say that our older game collection is growing. We just sold a copy of Harvest Moon (SNES) and had the entire Ultima (NES) collection as well.

Some kid brought in his entire collection (6 pages of stuff) and had just about everything in box with the games still in the plastic. (inside the box)

Not too bad for a store that has only been open for just over a month.

PSP Dead Head Fred - $18.90
XB360 Xbox360 Racing Wheel Wireless Version 2 - $90 (Sorry I do not know the difference between the versions.)

Also Lego Indiana Jones has a release date of 6/25/08 but sadly no Wii version is listed.

Pricing is dependent on location though. These are all suggested and have to be inputed to be changed.

As far as bundles, it is recommended to sell them in a bundle because thats how you make a profit. But they may be over doing it with that bundle. Also this maybe to discourage people from buying it just to sell them on ebay.

These bundles are called "Pak N Play" and they are supposed to be used to give you a better deal. Typically it is a percentage off your items because your buying what you need at one time. These should be flexable but then again, it is up to the owner. These are very hard to get, so might just be Wii Fever and he figures someone will buy it. If you do look on Ebay, you might find the same Wii with just the console.

Also I suggest all post about Play N Trade be directed here...

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3670416#post3670416

Because that will be more helpful for people looking for just the price changes and release date information. The other thread is better suited for Play N Trade talk.

Thanks
WII Sonic Riders Zero Gravity - $27.90

Wow, really? Doesn't this cost like $50.00? Well once it comes out.
Yep, but will you buy it? lol I didn't like the first version.

Here is a link to where the current Play N Trade flyer is posted. They tend to list the latest price drops on the second page.

http://playntrade.com/specials/index.htm

Also here is a coupon for an additional 30% when you enter a tournament.

coupon_30-1.jpg

I will post any new price changes if I get any today.

XB360 Crackdown - $27.90
XB360 Shadowrun- $27.90
DS Elements Of Destruction - $18.90

I am not positive but I think I have seen the 360 games around that price at other places also. At least for $30. Not a bad pick up for either as you would get your $30 worth in Crackdown.

Try the demo of Shadowrun first because it is mainly just online. This is the price it should have been released at. But now with all the great shooters, its really for someone that was something very different.

Have you had any luck getting Wiis? It seems the PnTs around here get in one or two every other week.

Thanks for the post OP! The closest store to me is a ways away (40 miles)...but maybe this weekend I can make it out there!
Have you had any luck getting Wiis? It seems the PnTs around here get in one or two every other week.
I don't have a store open yet but the basic problem is the fact that there are just not alot of them out there period. Vendors get a certain alotment and typically the big box retailers are getting them in large shipments and its not enough for them. Gamestops are in the similar situation, they may get a few more here or there, but its a industry problem of not having enough supply for the demand.

At this point, the demand is exceeding the supply so much that people just want one to have one and now everyone wants one. It will get a little easier to get one in the Spring because demand won't be as great, but it will still be there until people are not craving it.

Hey cdrober, where in NC are you located? There are 4 PnTs around Raleigh now (Garner, North Raleigh and 2 in Cary).
Thanks for the post OP! The closest store to me is a ways away (40 miles)...but maybe this weekend I can make it out there!

Wait how do you order stuff off the site, lol?
You can't. If you find a store located near you, you can check on the website if they have it in stock but currently there is no online store for Play N Trade.

UPDATE!
======

I didn't at first, but then I figured out how to play so I didn't always lose.

Also I started playing when I learned that Ulala, NiGHTS (character) and AIAI were unlockable. I was intrigued. :p
