Playing Imports on PS2

I just bought that Castlevania Arcade game from a japanese import shop.

I have my phat model ps2 and an old action replay max. I think its about 3 years old. Does anyone know if its able to load import games? I dont have the disc yet and cant check.

No it's not, you need a flip top mod and boot disc to play imports (unless you install a modchip, but the flip top is easier to do yourself and requires no soldering)

HDLoader is another option, but we can't discuss that here.

Swap Magic and Flip Top is what I use (err I mean, someone I know). Easy to set up and pretty cheap.
