The reason I would argue this when it comes to Avengers is because the next-gen update is included if you own the base version of the game. I could understand if it was a $10 upgrade like some other cross-gen games.

As small as the cost of PS+ may be, unless Sony truly gives a game away (most recently Ratchet and Clank), all games through PS+ or PSNow are rentals. Once you stop paying, you lose access.
I think you kind of explained it with your own post, you get the PS5 upgrade if you own the game. You do not own the game on PS Now. As much as I think it should be included and I imagine these instances will be fixed in the future, it makes some sense to not include it since you didn't buy the game. I don't believe there are any PS5 games on PS Now, so maybe once that changes these upgrades will be included. I imagine Square Enix probably only included the PS4 version to drum up some sales for the PS5 version.

I have both GamePass and PS Now and this is just another reason why I won’t renew PS Now. There are other reasons but any game on GP always gets upgraded to the next gen version (when it’s a free upgrade). Very annoying.

Gamepass is a better service than PS Now, I'm not sure anyone is arguing otherwise.
Yeah, I was just thinking when I saw Avengers and Borderlands 3 that they were good adds to PS Now. But the lack of upgrades kind of soured me on it. Think it was a missed opportunity to earn some goodwill for PS5 owners who have Now.

For those of you with more USB devices than the 3 connections on the PS5, I bought this and it's working fine

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L32B9C2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I wasn't sure if it needed to be powered or not but doing some research stated that you did not need a powered one. There are even cheaper ones too but this one got a lot of good reviews. Remember, any external storage you buy needs to be plugged directly into the rear USB ports of the PS5.

So, did Sony ever say what's going to happen to all the PS+ games on the PS3?
Will they become ours? Will we still need a + account to play them, even though they are shutting a majority of the features off?

Cause, there are still a handful of games I'd like to keep somehow when the servers shut down.

Also, how do I check if the game is PS+ or not.

I looked around but couldn't find an answer to the following question: If you play a PS5 enhanced PS4 game off an external HDD, do you get the enhancements like 60 FPS and faster load times? I can try this myself as Rachet and Clank is currently on my HDD and updated to the PS5 patch so I can see if I can run it at 60 FPS and time the load times and then move it to the internal memory and compare the result but I was hoping someone already knew so I wouldn't have to do all that haha.

Yes, it works fine on an external drive. I keep all of my PS4 games on my external SSD and all of the games with unlocked framerates run great on it.

All they are doing is disabling the ability to purchase PS3 games. You will still be able to download the games that you have already purchased. They're not going to convert PS+ games over to own, it will work the same way as it always has: the one you've "purchased" you will be able to download.

Getting really annoyed and impatient waiting for a sale on Umihara Kawase Fresh. It's worse because the Switch version can be found for half price or less, and a new copy even comes with a collectible Super Nintendo game box. PS4 feels like a second class citizen.

So about that gta v monthly free 1 million thing, u can just basically purchase it from the store every month and don’t need to have the game installed? I uninstalled that joint

I got it new ages ago. I never got a collectible box with the Switch version. Just clearing that up unless it's a special item somewhere. Mine looks like a normal switch case. It has a full color manual though, which is pretty rare.

Edit: Assuming from Nicalis store, which does come with goodies. It plays perfectly on the Switch. Game kind of sucks in a way being kind of boring, but that's something else.

I mean with the gameplay, you know exactly what to expect so it's hard to be surprised. The only major difference to my knowledge is that apparently there's a town and quests and such.

I'm considering just buying it at full price. But then I'm also strongly considering buying a Switch, and I'd love to be able to play that game on a portable.

That's good to know. I have seen youtube vids where the PS4 game takes much longer to load from an external drive and other where the load times are almost identical but none have gone over PS5 enhanced games off an external.

Other details probably play a part like brand/quality and speed. Assuming they wern't identical externals in the vids.

So I've got a list of games I'm thinking about buying before the PS3 store closes. Just want to get some opinions on what I should keep or drop from the list.

PS3

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus

Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) Complete DLC

PSP

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny

Resistance: Retribution

Dissidia [012] duodecim Final Fantasy

I enjoyed the Sly games especially Thieves in Time. Bought The Sly Collection from PSN for $4.99 back when Amazon still had forums and someone posted a link to some iffy deal site that turned out to work. Liked them enough to track down Thieves in Time on ebay and had a good time with it.

SoulCal is decent. It’s certainly no SC2, or even SC3, but I think I preferred it over 4 and 5. Not that I played a lot of those.

If you’ve played the original Dissidia, 012 is basically more of the same. There’s an overworld this time, but I actually kinda preferred the grid from the first, it was visually boring but at least it was to the point. The additions are nice, but overall it’s more of a large expansion than a sequel. If you’ve only played NT, though, it’s pretty different (and I’d personally say 012 is much better). If you haven’t played any Dissidia all and you’re find the idea of playing Final Fantasy characters flying crazily around large arenas in one-on-one battles interesting, it might be worth checking out depending on the price. I liked it, and it’s probably the best entry in the series. I think the first is included, too, but is only unlocked after beating the sequel campaign.

You get Quest for Booty free when you buy Into the Nexus.

I enjoyed what little I played of Thieves in Time when it was released. I'll pick it up again since it's only $10

I thought SoCal Broken Destiny was decent when I played it back then. I'll likely pass as I don't think I enjoyed it enough for a revisit. Where Dissidia is concerned that nostalgic feeling will likely be a letdown. So I will pass on it as well.

You get Quest for Booty free when you buy Into the Nexus.
I did not know that, thanks for the info! I'll take Quest for Booty off of my list.

I also am planning on buying the Ratchet games I don’t already own before the PS3 store closes down, since they’re inexplicably not available to play on PS4/PS5. Don’t forget about the Ratchet and Clank Collection, All-4-One, and Full Frontal Assault (which also includes Deadlocked for free) on PS3 and Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank on PSP!

There were a LOT of Ratchet games released during the era that Sony will soon shut off digital access to!

I 100% believe they will re release them.

Full Frontal Assault is just a pretty good deal in general. $10 for it, the vita version, and Deadlocked. I didn't even realize it at first, just wanted FFA as I really like action tower defense games.

There is no additional psn sales today?  I was really hoping for a Shadow of the Tomb Raider complete dlc to be on sale.  I am looking for a reason to replay it because I don't care for story at all and the ally mission bs but really enjoy the challenge tombs.  With nothing extra I feel like I will be forcing myself to replay it and hating every minute of it.  I replayed the first one on ps3 and it was great and am replaying the second on ps4 with all the extras.  I originally played it on 360.

The Spring Sale is one of their big sales lasting a month with a reset halfway through the sale so the additional sales are attached to lesser sales

I hope there is some sort of additional sale soon and more added to the spring sale. What is in the current spring sale isn't all that great.

Now I can afford the down payment on a 2nd hand refurb scooter in their in game vechile store or three bullets for my starter pistol. But who am I kidding I'll spawn in game with the cash in hand & be PKed before I can deposite it before being bombarded by adverts to go to their actual in game casino for a chance to win big...or something like that. :oldman:

PlayStations Twitter is weird. Why do they promote so many things with 3-7 second videos? A nice screenshot would probably be more effective than a video that shows almost nothing.

So I'm sorry if it's already been covered but I don't remember noticing it.... After the Vita and PS3 store closures I wonder what will happen to cross buy games. If you buy a ratalika game on ps4, will you still be able to download the Vita version? You don't have to purchase it from the Vita store, It goes straight to your download list. So....

I imagine you'd be able to download these games to vita, but I suppose we won't know for sure yet and tell they close everything down.

Hopefully when the PS3/Vita stores close we will still have access to game patches. That would suck if we’re stuck with version 1.0 of every game.

I don't believe they'll re-release certain first-party games on PS5 or PS4 either. I've revised my list of games to buy.

Ratchet and Clank games

Sly Cooper games

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Still under consideration:

Resistance Retribution

NFS Most Wanted 2012 DLC

That’s my main concern too. Hopefully they give some kind of update in the next few weeks to clarify things.
