Are the .Hack games worth playing? I see Last Recode is on sale for $5.
I have not played the new 4th volume but I did play with vol 1. The speed up options for Aida battles definitely are a huge qol improvement as before they were huge slogs since you fight basically in digital space. So they move around in every direction and you shoot at them then attack with your scythe at close range until they fling you back or run away.

They still take far too long though and you fight more Aida bosses in vol 2 when they become semi regular encounters.

If you don't have previous experience with the imoq quadrilogy you won't miss out on much besides references here and there and returning characters natsume, balmung, orca, kite and the awful piros. Technically Endrance and Haseo are returning characters but they are completely different from the original versions so I don't count them.

Each game is not typically long at least and can be completed in 24 hours or less depending on playstyle. The only grindy part is the arena since you have to fight so many matches to up your rank to challenge story bosses. Had they added in a way to skip that part would have been nice.

The one option to start the game at max level with all the sidequest rewards is 50/50. As the weapon you get from defeating the doppelganger is the highest lv twin blade weapon but the needle rippers are better than the reapers scissors. They have ghost wolf as it's charged attack animation vs a wonky clunky spinning slash thing the scissors has. That flash steps forward past your target and does numerous slashes.

G.u. is more playable than the imoq quadrilogy but it's still pretty rough around the edges. Enemies are kinda hp sponges (offline faux mmo base) so it takes a while to kill some stuff. Especially anything that has armor you need to break first like the Lance robots and pink guys who hide under Patrick Star rocks.

Some of the characters can be really obnoxious as a warning. Gaspard and piros being my biggest headaches.

IMOQ (the original series of .hack games, not included in Last Recode) has gameplay and graphics that are almost primitive, but it’s got a good story and characters. GU (the series in Last Recode) has very basic mid-00s ARPG gameplay, with mostly unlikeable characters, and the story is drivel.

Streaming some Venba if you want to see this indie Indian-Canadian narrative cooking game in action.

Edit: Here's the archive. It's a lovely story about an Indian couple moving to Canada to make a new life for themselves and cooking various dishes as a means of keeping their memories of their homeland with them as they start a family. The cooking is not complicated with the help of the recipe book, though some steps are damaged and require some puzzle solving to figure out what to do. Maybe a quick 90 minutes to beat depending on how well you solve the puzzles, though it has hints if you need it. Seems like an easy platinum.

The black and white Dualsense controllers are $34 at Sams Club. Camo is $39 and red is $44. This is on their site, I'm assuming it's probably the same price in-store.

If this is a week long sale and you live in MA you should wait until Saturday to buy it. Tax free weekend. Save a bit more.
for what it is worth, Missouri has their tax free weekend this weekend and it still shows tax for a ps5 on amazon, best buy and walmart. so not sure this qualifies.

Thank you! Said sold out online but they still have a few inside the cage

In MA it will qualify. These are the only exceptions here.

The following items are still taxable and do not qualify for the sales tax holiday exemption:

  • Meals
  • Motor vehicles
  • Motorboats
  • Telecommunications services
  • Gas
  • Steam
  • Electricity
  • Tobacco products
  • Marijuana or marijuana products
  • Alcoholic beverages, and
  • Any single item whose price is more than $2,500.

I went ahead and bought two Dualshock controllers (White and Camo since I own at least 1 of the other colors). These things are pretty hard to find in new condition from major retailers and I have had trouble in the past with 3rd party sellers when I tried to buy extra PS3 controllers in new condition about 10 years ago (controllers were defective despite being new/unopened).

I somewhat like how the Dualshock is smaller/lighter than the Dualsense and I try to use it for the PS4 games I own that don't have PS5 upgrades. I wouldn't expect to find new condition Dualshock controllers for $50 from a first party retailer (Sony or major brand store) again in the future.

Thanks so much for the heads up about this! I’ve wanted a black DualSense for awhile, so getting one for less than $37 after tax is incredible! More than 50% off!

Did I miss the first post? Where did you get them? I could use a few extra.

If you're in beta firmware, email invites are going out now for PS5 game streaming preview.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/ps5-streaming-preview-started-today.750796/

In addition to streaming games in the PS Plus catalog, you can stream supported games that you own like GoW: Ragnarok. That's honestly pretty great. I think Microsoft had similar plans for xCloud, but I dunno whatever happened with that.
It was mentioned a year (or two?) ago once in a news article, and then nothing since.

I went with target cuz no tax. GameStop with monthly coupon if only I had anymore trade in credit for no tax. Did get spiderman controller for $50 though

Two versions of Ape Escape on PS5 now. What a time to be alive.

Lawn Mowing Simulator is great if you want some fun mowing action, especially once you hire some people to mow the lawn types you don't like while you use the best mower.

Does anyone know of a good website for browsing the PS+ catalog? I'm looking for something where I can say something like "show me a list of all the 2-player co-op games" and see a quick list with screenshots & gameplay videos. Or something where I can. Say "show me the top-rated games that take less than 5 hours to beat" to knock out a quick game here and there. I've been trying to find a website like this for months. Something to quickly find new games to try out of the giant list.

What I've found so far.. The PS website has a list, but it's just names of the game's. IGN has something slightly better but still very lacking.

I'm at the point where if there's no better website out there, I'm considering just spending an afternoon building one out myself.

I'm still waiting for the Ape Escape trilogy remaster to release on the PlayStation 4/ PlayStation 5?

Or hell, revive the franchise and give us an all-new game.

Same here. I loved the Ape Escape games back in the day but they are real rough to go back to now days. The controls and camera especially are rough and I haven't been able to get more than a few hours into any of them on PS5. They are just not fun to play and are in need of updating.

Or hell, revive the franchise and give us an all-new game.
