Yeah I'm pretty sure this is legit as I've received a couple over the years, and they're not asking you to do anything unless you disagree with the updated policy.
Why are their so many of these Sony hate threads all of the sudden?
Because Sony sucks?:applause: Their 'you must have the firmware we want you to have, even if it's filled with garbage you don't want, don't need or won't use' policy regarding updating is total bullshit.

Not to mention the fact that you can't forgo the update for the time being and update when it's convenient for you. Once the updates are out, you HAVE to update(or run that proxy server bs to get online with the old fw)or you can't go online with the PS3. Total crock of shit.

Even with Windows updates I can pick and choose what I want, but not so with the almighty Sony.

Microsoft has the exact same policy in place when it comes to Xbox live, especially with forced system updates. They want you to have the firmware that they put out, even if it's filled with garbage you don't want.

If you hate Sony so much, as I see you constantly bitch on here about them, why don't you go elsewhere? Sell your PS3 and STFU about it.

Sure. Give me the $400 I paid for my original PS3 and at least $20 per game I currently have now and I'll go away. Otherwise, it's called an OPINION and I'm entitled to having an opinion other than 'Sony is so fuckin' great. They can do no wrong.' TYVM.

Otherwise, I'll keep 'bitching' about Sony and their stupid fuckin' 'one of us' bullshit where you HAVE to have EVERY stupid piece of shit update with every useless item in it even if you never intend on using it.

I did like the XMB until it became so cluttered with junk and I DO like the reliability of the PS3 in comparison to the 360. But I play games FOR the games, not the system they're on. If the 360 were more reliable, I certainly would be gaming on there, since I can't stand the gouging Sony did early in this gen, followed by slowly taking away functions from the PS3 one by one.

Why make a super system if you're going to gimp it 3-4 years down the road?

dont take it personal op i wasnt sure if it was a legit email either so i deleted it. the only sony emails i tend to check out are the ones id get when i bought something on the psn. in this day and age you cant be too careful.
