Pre-ordering at Amazon

Is there any way to pay for the item you're preordering before it releases? I'd rather go ahead and put the money in a spot where I can't easily take it out or use it and secure my purchase. I'm particularly worried about the 3DS as $250 is a lot of money for a poor and temporarily jobless college student.

there is not, unless you buy a gift card for $250 then preorder the 3DS with the gift card. But then if you change your mind, you won't be able to get your cash back, only the amount back on a gift card.
