Preorder Defcon for $10 (PC)

The game can be preordered two ways. 1) Preorder from Steam for $10 ($5 off the normal price of $15). http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=1520&

2) Preorder directly from the developer's website for $17.50 and you can download the game on launch day and they will mail you a free boxed copy and manual later (the boxed copy will cost an extra $8.75 after launch). http://store.introversion.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=55

The game releases this friday 9/29/06, so if you want to get in on the preorder deals you will have to move quickly.

Defcon looks like a really fun take on RTS and IGN has already given it an 8.8. At only $10, there isn't much to lose.

I am surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but a search for "Defcon" didn't turn up anything.

Made by the same people who made Uplink, so you know it is $10 better spent than most CC clearance games.

They also made Darwinia, but I never got into it.

No demo until release, when it will be $15 over Steam.

I'm sure the online MP will be typically disappointing of most online MPs, but I'll take it for SPs and periodic skirmishes with noobs.

So how is steam I have never used it? Is it safe? Reliable? Am I asking rediclous questions?

I went with the preorder from their website route. Extra $7 and you get a boxed copy. Eh. For some reason I feel the need for boxed copies, that way 3 years down the line I don't have to worry about digital download passwords or such.

for $10 its definately worth it, I played a review copy and it was great good enough that I want to buy it.
