Just a heads up; we were told at work today that, on June 30th, we're going to be getting coupons for those who have pre-ordered NCAA '09; namely, trade two Wii/PS3/360 games in, get an extra $15. I'm pretty sure it didn't specify a limit, so just thought I'd throw that out there for people.

EDIT: Thanks, DJ Kunai, for the scans.

I had no problem getting them to accept the scan but it didn't work even though my games were over $4. Thing is, I also traded 2 games under $4. I was expecting to get the $15 bonus on the first pair and the $10 bonus on the second pair. However, neither worked and he had to override to get the bonuses in. They were scanned in the right orde too (The 2 $4+ games first, followed by the other pair). It all worked out in the end (even got about 50 cents more than I should have) but the receipt is a mess.

If anyone is interested, I posted it in the GS $10 promo thread:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4553890&postcount=1013

So, I guess from now on the key is to separate the $4+ games into a separate transaction.

The $15 bonus must be activated before the system automatically does the $10 bonus. It also only allows 1 bonus for each transaction.

Pretty much a crap deal unless you have a couple of junk games that won't draw anything just to get $15 free. Otherwise I'm guessing Best Buy or Circuit City will probably offer some deal on the game, like a free gift card or promo item.

You don't go to Blockbuster much, do you?

thankz i guess i'm getting NCAA Football 09 at gamestop
You don't go to Blockbuster much, do you?
why i have alot of blockbuster should i go there for cheap games

I'm 2-for-2 on using this so far. We'll see how far i can take it when I start getting the B1G1 games from Blockbuster to trade in. The only problem with this coupon is how it gets hosed up with any other game trades on the same receipt. And we all know they like to pile on as many things onto one receipt as they can so it is hard to get them not to take all your trades at once (so you can do the 2 for $15 and the rest as regular $10 ones).
I'd like to request OP add "SCANS" to the title so people realize they no longer have to preorder in order to get the deal.
u do have to preorder NCAA 09 because the cards are in the preorder free and saids on the card

This is exactly like the promo going on in-store without a coupon, however there are a few differences.

1- The games must have a TIV of $4 to qualify.
2- The coupon is required.
3- This expires later than the other promo.
4- You must trade 2 games at a time for the bonus to apply (multiples of 2 will not work, you will need to do separate transactions).
been known and around for a while. it's the NCAA deal.
It doesn't seem like it with everyone in the $10 bonus thread completely ignoring it. If this gets closed it just feels like a few dozen CAGs will be losing $100s without it.

1- The games must have a TIV of $4 to qualify.

It says right there on the coupon $4 or less are excluded, unless you got this somehow to work?

The GS by my house had stacks of these coupons sitting on the counter.

What, precisely, is the issue with printouts? Not wanting them to flip it over and go "nyah, nyah, gotta reserve NCAA"?

That they wouldn't have them on counters all over the place boggles my mind.

I mean, they're trying to push the NCAA presell. Why would they obscure their trade-in deal on that?

So it's a pre-order deal? Sorry, I'm a bit misinformed, obviously.

I'm not sure what it is, exactly, but it's clear that it at least is being offered in concert with the NCAA pre-order push.

From reading the main thread, it seems like you can use it for whatever, but they are strongly encouraging you to preorder. Or something. Dunno.

At my local GameStop they wouldn't allow me to use the scan, but I went ahead and preordered NCAA 09 while trading and the employee told me I had to put the entire trade value towards the preorder. They told me that if I was gonna cancel my preorder to come in later when the guy they don't like is working.

All deals dealing with pre-orders say "trade amount towards reservations" now....they caught on to people just putting $5 down You can go anytime even at day of release and tell them you don't want the game. They will put the amount on a gift card (if you don't pick another game). If a clerk tells you no....just pay off the game and tell him you are returning it because you don't want it....they actually have a entry that states customer did not want game (or something like that). They once again will put the amount on a gift card.....you probably won't have to do this.

Well, I went ahead and canceled the reservation. I decided to transfer the credit to reserving Fable II to get the Casino Mini-games download on LIVE for free once it's available. They didn't hassle me at all.

I pre-ordered NCAA 09 (I actually want to buy the game since it is the first Nintendo iteration in 6 years), but the clerks at Gamestop didn't know about the coupon promo.

The employees at GS can't tell you 'no' to canceling a pre-order and getting your $5 back. Should they decide to be a dick and tell you that you can't, you can simply buy the game, then return it for a cash (or however you paid for it) refund.

Well the coupon card is supposed to be given out as an incentive to Pre-Order NCAA (at the time of the pre-order). If they accept scans then anyone can print one out here and go in and get $15 extra trade credit without pre-ordering the game.

That said, I have printed out some copies and will try it out today and lunch ;). Seems like its big time YMMV, but if it doesn't work I'll just take the $10 deal (and push for the extra $20% to reserve NCAA) That actually will make up for part of the $5 difference in some cases.

I asked about it specifically at my local GS when I went this morning, and the lady was absolutely clueless -_-

I may as well have printed out a copy.

I know the manager at the Gamestop I went to, so he let me do it.
Make sure they don't read where it says no print outs.

Just got back and my printout worked like a charm. The Assistant Manager even read the entire coupon before scanning it. :) I couldn't get the 20% bonus for putting a pre-order down on Madden/NCAA though. I'm sure I could have made a stink about it but I was happy with the $15 bonus! Thanks again OP.

Also there is another cardboard gift card going around that gives you $40 trade in credit on NCAA 09 if you preorder/purchase Madden 09. This is for the 360 & PS3 versions. The Wii version gives you $30 credit. I probably won't take advantage of this offer, but if you are the type of gamer that buys NCAA just to hold you over until Madden gets out, $44 ($40+edge) in credit isn't a bad deal. I'll try to get a scan up.

I used this successfully at 3 of 4 GameStops I stopped at yesterday. The only one that shut me down was actually sort of a fluke because the person I went to trade in the games to was a new employee and told me it had to be 2 games from the same system (which I know is not correct). So instead of making a stink I just ran out to the car and grabbed 2 of the same system and when I came in the noob was gone and this guy who is normally pretty cool was ther. He looked at the print out and said he needed the actual card to do the $15. Oh well. It is actualy funny because that specific store is usually the worst run of the local stores. I can't believe they were actualy up on things. :bomb:

Seems most people are cool about this. One guy almost shot me down, some old dude working! he read the part where it said they have to be in full working condition, one of my games were pretty scratched up so I swaped in out with another copy in the car

Yea, I have only had problems at one store. The first time the guy shut me down on using a copy but the second time the manager was standing there while I was trading in and he said "do you have the original card, because we can't send in copies". I told him I didn't have it on me and he took one from the stack of cards they had sitting behind the counter for me to use! :D This is the deal of the year so far for me.

Not sure why this isn't getting the attention the $10 bonus is. This deal is almost as automatic.

Yeah, but it isn't nearly as automatic. Sure, I've done it plenty of times. But in recent days I've been shot down because of various reasons. One place said I needed the original, and another said just 1 per day per customer (I was trying to do it twice). I just went ahead and traded the second set without it anyway as it is a pain to drive all the way back there just for 2 games. The guy even said "Are you sure? You could come back tomorrow?". Yeah, like a 30 mile round trip is worth $5 in GS credit ;).

At my closest GS they did it several days ago but insisted on taking my other (non-qualifying) trades at the same time. Of course this hosed up the coupon and they had to manually adjust it. Then when I went in there a few days later they remembered that and said it didn't work because it wasn't the "real" NCAA coupon. What is hilarious about this is that they are implying the computer knew it was a scan and not the real one and that's why it didn't work. WTF? It didn't work because they scanned other games at the same time. Oh well - no big deal, I've gotten plenty of extra mileage out of this coupon on trades that I'd be making anyway with the $10 promo. I'm just using it less now than I was earlier - will probably only try it on one pair at each store I go to and just do the rest regular... I'll lose out on some credit but it will be less hassle. I did give 3 preorders to stores that were more lenient with taking the coupon - so there's a little something in it for them as well ;).
$4 value or more...it says on the coupn
Is this in response to anything in particular or something you just thought needed to be said? I don't think that bit of info changes anything anyone has said in the last several posts.

Even with >$4 games it is YMMV as to the use of this coupon (when it is a printout that is). It's more about getting them to accept it in the first place.

LOL, that is funny that they even suggested that. Yea, you are right that it isn't nearly as automatic as the $10 bonus. That promo automatically comes up when you trade in two games that meet the criteria. The $15 has some YMMV to it, and like you said, if you do anything other than trade in the two games for the $15 credit on that transaction, the system doesn't seem to like it.

I guess I have just had great success so far, being that I'm 9/10 when using the $15 coupon. Obviously some luck and skill has been involved. Discussing the games you have pre-ordered at the store helps out. Putting down a pre-order for a upcoming game really helps too. Renewing your edge card would probably be a slam dunk! :D

I just think more CAGs should try it out, if you print it out and they say they need the actual card you just tell them you don't have it and take the $10 bonus. Or just pre-order a copy of NCAA and get a new $15 card to use. ;) You can always cancel the pre-order next time you are in the store.

EDIT: Just got shut down at lunch when trying to trade in. Used my last actual $15 card to get the deal though. Maybe they are getting wise to this? Oh well, I don't have much left to trade so I'll probably still try the copy a couple more times, but this has served me very well.

I'm trading in 6 games tomorrow and will give this a shot, I do believe the base value is higher than 4 on all of them so I'll report back when I've done so. This does work when you have more than two games, right?

No. Not unless you do separate transactions for each pair and I doubt you get the manager to do that. So you would have to go other gamestops for each pair.

Thanks for letting me know that. I'd rather just take the loss of the additional credit over driving around and using gas up like that, if they didn't have the bonus 10 going on now though I'd definitely do them in pairs at other stores or times.
