The hottest free agent in the world makes his debut in the organization known for the best wrestling on the planet as Alberto El Patron debuts in Ring of Honor on January 3rd, 2015 in Nashville, TN.

Formerly known in WWE as Alberto Del Rio, Alberto El Patron is a former 4 time World Champion in World Wrestling Entertainment and the current AAA Heavyweight Champion in Mexico.  Known for his brash demeanor, this Mexican aristocrat brings an attitude and desire to prove his greatness to Ring of Honor but how will that attitude mesh with the ROH stars?

One thing that is certain is Alberto’s credentials. A celebrated amateur wrestler in Mexico, Alberto has won numerous amateur championships and tournaments. In addition to his amateur accolades, Alberto has won numerous world championships in his home country of Mexico, including the CMLL Heavyweight Championship. But would you expect anything less given his bloodlines?  Alberto is the son of legendary luchador Dos Caras and nephew of Mil Mascaras, continuing one of Mexico’s greatest wrestling legacies.

Upon signing with ROH, Alberto has requested that Ring of Honor matchmaker Nigel McGuinness challenge him with the very best that ROH has to offer, and many of the stars in Ring of Honor have already started making phone calls to Nigel to take on El Patron.

"Ring of Honor has been doing fantastic things.  There’s a lot of excitement surrounding this company and I look forward to competing against the best of the best in ROH in 2015,” says Alberto El Patron.

Could we see him face ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe? Adam Cole? AJ Styles? ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal? Matt Sydal? Roderick Strong? The list of world class match-ups is endless!

Who would you like to see him face? Tweet us at @RingofHonor and use the hashtag #AlbertoROH

Ring of Honor fans will FIRST be able to see Alberto El Patron on the following dates:

It’s been said that Alberto wants to show that he is one of the best in the world between the ropes, and he will certainly have every opportunity to prove that in Ring of Honor.

Finn Balor is looking like CM Punk, if Punk smoked weed for the first time and had full access to Jeff Hardy's art supplies. That entrance was great.

Sami Zayn just said "fuck" 3 times! BAH GAWD THINK OF THE CHILDREN

EDIT: After match... "fuck yeah! I'm the fuckin' man!"

Steen's debut was just about perfect. I wouldn't have had him take anything from CJ, but hell, that palm strike busted him up and he came off like an even bigger bad-ass fighting through it and just kicking ass. Tag title match was fine. Ditto Corbin-Tye. Balor was the motherfuckin man in the showcase tag. His big painted look is going to do really well for him merch-wise and he stands out instantly. He's already got one of the best themes in the company, although the performance art stuff is a bit much. Charlotte-Banks was a notch below Charlotte-Nattie, but got really good in the last 10 minutes. First part was too gimmicky.

Neville-Zayn was one of the best matches of the year. Sami is one of the best workers on Earth right now, and easily the most sympathetic figure. They made magic tonight. Sami winning the title was one bit of amazing and THEN HE AND STEEN HUGGED! Man did the stars align for all of this greatness. Kevin's WWE journey began, while Sami's reached its apex. They went into the sunset together AND THEN KEVIN ATTACKED HIM WITH A SICK POWERBOMB ON THE APRON! HOLY SHIT YES! We're getting Steen vs. Generico for a title in WWE!

OK Finn, we get it, you have ca-raaaaazy face paint, you can stop doing everything with your head tilted way back. We see it ffs.

Regardless, that was a neat intro for sure and it's clear they have huge plans for Balor (they even put a shirt out for him tonight). If he's still in NXT in 6 months I'll be very surprised. Shame that the exact opposite seems to be true for Kenta, who they apparently have zero plans for outside of Cobra Kai ring jacket. Come on. GTS tease was hilarious though.

Called the Owens turn but that didn't make it any worse. Cool that they are going with that feud right away.

That crowd was fucking hyped for that GTS attempt.

I'm not sure where they go with Itami either.  The new gear is an improvement at least but he is 1000 percent overshadowed by Devitt.

Feels like he hasn't come up with anything specific to replace the moves other WWE guys now use so it's just a lot of strikes that the announcers don't sell..the flying knee most of all.  On the other hand, his facial expressions are fantastic which should go a long way in helping connect with the crowd.

I'm hoping they bring in Kidd/Cesaro to go against Balor/Itami for the next set of tapings.  Maybe someone better than the Acension and Justin Gabriel will get him going.

CJ Parker's palm strike didn't only bust open Owens

It's not too surprising - he's put up photos of an original paint design online since signing with WWE, and this look makes him stand out instantly.

"They destroyed The Ascension.. now, they're going to destroy each other."

2014 has been pretty surreal.

- Neville won a world title

- Daniel Bryan's Wrestlemania moment

- Hideo Itami debuted

- Finn Balor debuted

- Kevin Owens debuted

- Sami Zayn's Wrestlemania moment

- Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn feud seed has been planted

2015 is going to be great for NXT. WWE? Same ol', same ol'.

The event last night was pretty perfect. I've watched the debut of Kevin Owens and the Zayn/Neville match three times so far. Just unreal.

The fact that I called him Kenta in my earlier post not out of smarky indignance but the fact that I still don't even remember what his new name is kind of gives you an idea of what I think of their handling of him so far.

I feel that is too early to say. I think they paired Hideo with Finn due to them both being huge stars in NJPW and to help mask the fact that Hideo is still working on mastering the English language, which is why Finn does most of the talking for duo.

I feel like Kenta has been handled much better than past Japanese stars that have been in the WWE. They just never take them seriously, just look at Taijiri, Funaki, Yoshi Tatsu, TAKA, and the list goes on. I think they are really making an effort to make Hideo Itami into a serious contender and are simply trying to protect his only weakness at this time, which is his speaking and that is only due to English not being his native language.

Finn is going to be huge, I've been a huge fan of his work for years now and the guy is just all around money. His gimmick is unique, he is an excellent talker, and one of the best in the ring.

Then you have Steen.... I mean Owens. What an excellent debut! They did absolutely everything right with KO and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I agree it's early, but you already can see what the intent is based on what has happened so far. You immediately know the guys they have plans for. Wyatt. Balor. Shield. Itami is a guy where they signed him because they wanted a Japanese guy on the roster, not because they had a solid direction for him.

They could very well manage to do well with him, but I'm not liking what I see so far.

Yeah they really don't seem to know what to do with him. They made a big deal about his signing though and I feel that he will do well, but you never this is the WWE. The fact that guys like Balor, Owens, Rollins, Ambrose, Wyatt, Zayn, Neville, etc. are all being pushed pretty heavy right now gives me a lot of hope for the future of WWE as a whole. These guys are something special and the thought of them all on RAW together makes me excited to finally see the company evolve as it should have over a decade ago.

The users of r/squaredcircle on Reddit loved the show last night so much that they bought Triple H a fruit basket as a way to thank him!

It was delivered to his office. He appreciated the gesture, but he's still in Orlando. WWE Archivist Ben Brown ate it. Edible Arrangements saw it and wants to send another.

I love the Internet.

wow  got to wonder about  comcast sticking caps of 10 hours per month steaming, will effect places like this and amazon. Starting in jan the internet plan we have right now will  only be allow a 200 cap  (that is around 10 hours of steaming)

Those numbers cant be right can they. 10 hours seems very low even for a 200 cap. (then again just surfing the net and watching one ppv per month comcast is staying im using 98 of the cap.

Yeah, their data caps are extremely restrictive and annoying. When you approach the data cap, you get huge warnings (banners) across most devices connected to the net. When I had it, it was at 350, and I was still hitting it between online gaming and streaming Netflix. It was brutal during Steam sales.

That was one of the most perfectly booked shows I've ever seen. This wasn't even a PPV and I'm still ready to call this PPV of the year, and this is PROOF that WWE knows how to book a fantastic show from top to bottom, so why the hell don't they do this more often?

Here's a video I made today on PS4 with Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens at NXT.

I'd say because Vince leaves NXT to other people entirely but still has his hands all over WWE main roster shows.

It looks like The Ascension is finally getting called up.

...I also thought Tyson Kidd and Natalya's cat ears were a nice touch.

Funny how they aired the hilariously cheesy vignette for The Ascension right after the commercial for the Syfy miniseries "Ascension".

Big happenings at PWG "Black Cole Sun" last night. Ricochet cashed in his BOLA shot, but he ended up submitting to PWG Champion Kyle O'Reilly.

After the match, Roderick Strong showed up. He was originally booked against Bobby Fish but replaced due to "travel issues". Strong and O'Reilly engaged in an impromptu Guerrilla Warfare match for the belt. Strong hit End of Heartache on chairs and then locked in the Stronghold to capture the title.

I actually liked the Ascension video because it brought me back to the late 80's tag teams which gives me all sorts of feels. I am for ANYTHING that at least tries to restore the tag division to some level of relevance.

If that Ascension promo were any more of a Road Warriors ripoff, one of them would be dead and the other one would have a son in the NFL. They literally just barely changed the "we snack on danger, dine on death" line.

...which is fine, because I wouldn't mind seeing a team pushed like that again, but I doubt they'll actually follow through with it.

I'd like that better if they stopped the goofy twitching.  The Assassin's Creed shoulder armor things are alright too.  Certainly better than the t-shirts.

I guess WWE might be bringing back the European championship sometime soon.  As Lana posted a pic on Instagram earlier(& is now deleted) of the European title with the new WWE logo.

So I guess this might mean that they'll phase out the U.S. title in exchange for the European title for Rusev.

Holy crap Luke Harper... His stock went way up tonight.

Such a pleasant surprise and I don't even care that he lost. That just means Harper and Ziggler will have a rematch at Royal Rumble! :whee:

That'd be a good one to use if they try to hype up the first Raw of 2015 too.

Mildly tempted to go to Raw tomorrow since Brock and Jericho will be there, and at least theoretically the shows should start getting mildly better now that the throwaway PPVs are over. If I do I'll be sure to bring a Shut Up Zen Davis sign.

To WWE's credit, they continue to top themselves month after month with these match finishes. I cannot fathom the sheer amount of effort it must take to actively come up with such asinine finishes to good matches.

Pre-show match was nothing but a backdrop for talking about The Great Gazoo, Harvey Korman, and jumping the shark in 2014. Loved the shucky ducky quack quack graphic and Heyman saying Ryback hurts people and tonight, he can do it with chairs. Dolph-Harper was technically just fine, but never really got out of first gear for me in terms of excitement. They did spots,t hen more spots. Took some bumps. It was a collection of stuff without an attempt at a story. That was still better than the nothing tag title match with a DQ finish, and the awful Show-Rowan stairs match. I had that pegged at ****** beforehand, but it wound up underwhelming. Rowan clipping Show with the corner of the steps was sick, and I liked Show KOing Rowan and then pinning him with the steps.

Seth-Cena was boring and had a bullshit finish until the restart. AJ-Nikki was nothing - although I did like the ringpost bow and arrow. Ryback-Kane was horrible. Rusev-Swagger was short, but largely forgettable - still the second-best match on the show. Loved the hype vid for Cena-Lesnar at the Rumble. Main event was a crazy video game match. It dragged whenever Bray was on offense, but was intense whenever Dean did stuff. They went to hte well a bit too often with table elbow drops here. Exploding TV was a stupid finish setup, and Bray won a PPV main event with the crowd not even caring.

I don't see a single way this could go poorly

I liked the finish to the Stairs match except for the dumb bit with the stairs.  Show hit a pretty fantastic looking chokeslam - especially compared to the ones he usually hits on larger guys and a great sounding punch to the back of the head.

For no reason he had to go and fumble around with the stairs for 20 seconds to do something that didn't look like it actually helped with the pin.

Seth/Cena felt like they had 2 matches and 4 endings laid out to choose from and they decided to go with all of it.  It started out a lot like the Miz/Cena matches where Riley was allowed to interfere but it was generally just Cena beating them both up away from the ring for a long time, then the period where it was an actual match happened for a while, and then it turned into the ending of Clue.
