Also... I didn't get the Wardrobe Wars Sneakers, although I uploaded a pic of myself around 2pm pacific. Anyone else have this trouble?
On Wednesday I uploaded my pic around 10pm EST but didn't receive the sneakers. The next day I uploaded around 9:15pm EST and got them. I'm happy to get the reward but I'm disappointed in how this works. Hardly anybody dresses for the theme and the voting seems to be poorly designed. I'll keep trying though.

P.S. I heard that a clown won yesterday

If you think about it, they are probably getting over a million submissions, and in no way is it possible for everyone to have a chance to see let alone vote on every pic - and with only one winner a day, it's basically just a lottery, so I wouldn't sweat it. Just post a few images, and of you get lucky, great, but with less than a one in a million chance at winning, I certainly wouldn't expect to win. Instead, I just find it fun to casually check out some of the interesting avatars people have made.

Besides, the rewards for the daily and even the weekly winner isn't nearly as nice as most of the 29 freebies, so it's really just a tiny bonus for who ever gets picked out of all those submissions.

We're not trying to win the contest, just tossing around ideas on why the 'participation' reward wasn't issued. You'd think that would go to everyone...

I'd rather get the vest and the dress for free over the 29 items, but that's just me. But I'm not going to bother with this contest because it's ridiculous anyway. An inefficient and unfair voting system? Pass.

I'm confused... did you read the quote I was responding to? Ren_Echo pretty clearly said they got the participant reward (sneakers), but was disappointed in how the contest works and that hardly anybody dresses for the theme and the voting seems to be poorly designed, and that they said that they'll keep trying...

So I was offering some insight on how the contest works, and why it really doesn't matter what the theme is regarding who will win each contest, and based on the odds of winning, not to get their hopes up, and instead just enjoy some of the funny and interesting submissions.

As for the participant reward, yes, everyone who participates should get them, and most appear to have gotten them without any problems, but some have - possibly due to a HDD data recording error - but this is a known issue and based on the thread about it in the official Home Support forum, it appears those that didn't get it before, got it the next time.

If you are still unable to get the sneakers, you may want to let them know in that thread.

I'm curious, what voting system would work fairly with hundreds of thousands if not millions of submissions?
Is the bot builder still live? Or do I need to wait for it to rotate in again?

Finally, agreed, I simply can't get logged into the Star Wars event.
Since I already have the bot award, I cannot tell if it's still available. Nobody else seems to be missing it when I'm there. LOCKY, the Lockwood space text greeter has said there's an animated reward everyday, though.

One way to check to see if Star Wars is working is to find the Jedi lurking behind the game. If you approach him, you should see a game launch prompt. If there's no prompt, the game isn't available, and you'll have the greyed-out play button when you attempt to activate the game kiosk. Leave and reload the space or warp to another phase of the space where a friend is. If you go 7 for 10 on the game, it unlocks an outfit that hardly seems worth the effort.

Yea when it said You have been awarded Brisk Phantom Menace costume I was like sweet, maybe a jedi or sith costume, that would be sweet. Then saw it was just a guy with bangs in a Brisk hoodie that is rather plain and has nothing to do with Star Wars whatsoever.

Wardrobe Wars is now available on the 2nd Floor Mall, too. It's even laggier than 1st Floor, if you can get the space to even download. There's another free loot kiosk in the same spot (between Konami & Mass Media on this floor). It'll probably be invisible like the 1st Floor one is from time to time. I've tried to access it several times, but it responds Download Failed.

Well, I believe there should be at least ONE that works better than what we have right now. But if you want suggestions, then alright. 1) Remove the usernames so it doesn't become a popularity contest. 2) Each user gets one vote. 3) Each user can submit only one picture. Tada.

If there is a million people that visit PS Home I would be surprised. So do these participation items ever change as I noticed it saying that it was still the male shoes today.

Tada??? Really?

It's been tested out numerous times, the images that are randomly displayed in the posters at the WW area and in the menu are different for each and every person. When you see your image displayed, just ask some stranger to tell you the name of the user displayed for them in that same spot and it will be different... so they cant even vote for you.

Not only that, but there is no way of searching and thus voting for your friend's posters. Considering the space only shows about 8 images at a time, the idea that this is a popularity contest is rather absurd - as is the idea that the "winner" is ever going to be the "best" themed avatar.

With so many submissions, the results are simply going to be mostly random, and no other system that could be reasonably applied in this situation is going to change that.
4) User cannot vote for themselves lol.
Again, it makes no difference, as most if not all are voting for themselves - thus everyone is starting at the same level.
If there is a million people that visit PS Home I would be surprised. So do these participation items ever change as I noticed it saying that it was still the male shoes today.
Well based on officially published stats from a year ago (and Home has only grown since then), over 12 million different accounts have visited Home more than once in 2010, and I think it was over a million that visited at least once a week.

But whether its 10 million submissions or just a thousand, the way the images are randomly displayed makes it next to impossible for the result to get rigged by friends voting only for friends and or using alt accounts - which is probably why they didn't include an option to search for user names, and why the submissions are displayed randomly and differently for each and every user in the space.

I just sort of find it funny that anyone really thought the results would be anything but random considering the size of the contest participants... and that it's a subjective contest to begin with.

So basically, it's a lottery, if you win, good for you, but I certainly wouldn't sweat it if you don't, and if you don't find looking at some of the submissions entertaining, then I personally would recommend not wasting any more of your time with it, as the odds of winning are likely extremely low and the rewards for winning are not all that great.
I dl the app it works for android too, but I don't know how to get home rewards
Hey guys, I just double-checked my messages and got lucky. I have a message saying: "We're sorry, this app is not available for your phone.' and then they just texted me the code. So if you can't figure out how to get a code, just use an old phone? (mine is on a blackberry.)

Steps I used:
1. Call **WARS
2. Listen to message
3. Visit website that they send you in the first message

With so many submissions, you wouldn't think that limiting one entry per user wouldn't help? Just because the idea was executed with no foresight and management doesn't mean we should all wash our hands of it and not attempt to fix it. If it's so broken then I hope they remove it altogether so it doesn't make the space any laggier than it already is.
With so many submissions, you wouldn't think that limiting one entry per user wouldn't help?
I think you don't understand. You can only have one submission at a time. They let you submit more than one submission so that if you didn't like the last one you submitted, you can replace it with another... although even if they did allow for multiple submissions, it still would not make the contest unfair - as everyone would have the option to submit as many as they like. Is a lottery unfair if it allows people to purchase as many tickets as they like?

But it isn't broken, and clearly it was thought out, but you don't seem to understand the limitations of having a contest that involves so many participants, and is mostly subjective. Besides, you still have not offered an alternative where everyone can participate and no one can rig it to win.

The way they have it set up, everyone can participate, and no one can rig it to win.

Ok you don't get the home code from the app alone. You MUST call the number to work. It'll send you a link n when you dl the app it sends you another text message with the home code. Here is my code in case its universal 7JB4-55NC-REBG.

Another note the street fighter tekken game now advertises around the hub that by completing all 10 challenges gets you a ryu n kazuya costume, it even has pic of it. So maybe we get 4 costumes in total ? 2 guy 2 girl characters ? Awesome.

I'm saying that it bogs down the system! Where are you getting your info from? How are you so sure that your submission is replaced by the most recent one? Don't tell me you did one of your "tests" and came up with this theory. Also, lotteries don't have each person voting for everyone who enters. It's not even close to the same thing.

Stop being so patronizing. If it was clearly thought out, the people who won the daily contest would have dressed in accordance to the theme. And I already offered suggestions to fix it. Obviously, you didn't care for them because you already think everything is perfect.

I'm sure the guy who won thought very hard about the theme and the people who voted him a perfect 10 thought his picture was very unique and consistent with the theme. It's not like he entered close to the end of the day and voted himself a 10 to guarantee a higher chance of winning.

Whatever. I'm done with this. I'm not the only one who feels this way, so you can continue to think that we're wrong or have a limited understanding of contests if you wish.

Wow, I go away for a day and all heck breaks out, lol. I didn't mean to start all this controversy, I was just disappointed that the Home community isn't even trying to match the theme. Perhaps I shouldn't have said "poorly designed".

I appreciate the insight and you're right, this is more like a lottery. In any case, I do find some of the submissions pretty funny, just wish they would load faster.

P.S. After two days of trying to match the theme, I've decided to just go with whatever I'm wearing that day. If you see a picture of a guy with a beer stein in his hand, that's me, lol.

No worries, I was only trying to help, and hey, an avatar with a beer stein sounds like a sports fan to me, and so yours would even be keeping the theme in mind. In fact, I suppose for those bent out of shape over a clown getting picked... maybe the avatar was supposed to be a rodeo clown. ;)

In fact, that beer stein would go great with the pic I submitted (my Texas Long Horn football fan avatar). I'll snap a pic of it next time I'm in Home and post it here.

BTW: Where did you get the beer stein hand item? I haven't seen that before. I did see someone with a martini glass in their hand, which I thought was pretty cool, and they said they got it in one of the Casino games. Is that where the beer stein is from as well?

As for slow loading images, it may be related to each person's internet connection, as they load up right away for me (I typically get around 20Mbps download), and when I met with friends in Home to test out how this 'contest' works, some said it took a long time for the images on the screen to appear, while others like myself saw them cycling through much faster... which means it is unlikely some kind of server issue, as then everyone on the *same server would experience similar loading delays.

* Anyone in the same lobby/instance of a space will automatically be on the same server that is hosting that lobby/instance.

Yes, the beer stein is from the Casino and its obtained by getting zero numbers in a Keno draw.

The free loot kiosk looks a lot like the Featured Items kiosk at Pier Park, but that's a real featured items kiosk. The Wardrobe Wars kiosk tags as Featured Items, but it has a scrolling Free Items marquee and the Wardrobe Wars logo. Plus, there's more music, commercials, and what sounds like random conversation picked up by accident coming from the kiosk (or the TV above it, which may not load). You don't have to see the actual kiosk to use it. It should flag when you get near it, even though you might not be able to see it.

On Floor 1, it's between GAMES and SIDEKICKS, about halfway between the support column and GAMES.

On Floor 2, it's between KONAMI and MASS MEDIA, also left of the column.

Floor 1 still has free loot, even when the kiosk visual hasn't loaded. Floor 2 still won't load and says Download Failed on access.

BTW, free swag is still the same set of items.

The logo and marquee don't photograph on the in-Home camera

Sorry, I was entranced in a game haha. I'll add you tomorrow and look to see when you're and we'll work it out when you are not busy. Thanks for helping, I don't know why I haven't been able to be in one of the Hub servers with people playing Versus mode since it release. I figured I would give people time to finish the single player but that hasn't seemed to work haha

Speaking of the Street Fighter x Tekken event at the hub, while I was catching up on my Week 1 Challenges, Week 2 Challenges were released.

So far, if you perform a perfect hit sequence or a perfect block sequence, you receive either Nina Williams or Chun-Li's hair. Also if you win 20 games for either team in both Single or VS, you get Chun-Li's dress or Nina's outfit.

I can only wonder what Week 3 can bring ... thinking shoes as you should have, by this week, the hair, dress/outfit, and either gloves or bracelets.
