Agreed. Personally I like DT2 much better than DG because of the skill customization.
The customization in DG was fine to me, but I also didn't grind for the skill drops. Allowing any character to have just about any skill in the game was more customizable to me than DT2.

It's pretty hard to max, say, even one AoE and one single target spell for a Witch in DT2. Cause it'll be like 4 levels to get 1 level of the skill once you're half-way through the tree, or something similar.

I like how Etrian Odyssey handles it better. It's always 1 point per level, but diminishing returns after the half way point. So it might be 100% damage at level 1, 200% damage at level 5, and 225% damage at level 10. Or something along those lines.

I had a very long/detailed post about my team and skill setup in DT2 before. I had a near perfect mix of verticle/horizontal AOE and Single Hit that made my grind so much easier. To me that's what DT2 is about, grind and learn the most efficient way to grind, and keep leveling since those post game and hidden bosses can be very difficult. I agree it is impossible to max all skills, but I thought that was the charm of it. There would be no strategy adjustments if every girl maxed their every skill. That tough decision of which class to evolve to, how to distribute points and what team to bring is what really intriued me. At one point I was so paranoid that I wasn't getting the optimal team/skill that I posted a question on this thread, and I believe the answer was "just make your team for maximum waifu-ness". It was one of you guys but I forgot who.

Never played Etrian so no comment there.

Brutal dungeon crawler Etrian Odyssey is, or at least the first game in the franchise is, can't comment on the rest of the franchise. Was a massive struggle to get my party up to level 6 and then still got slaughtered by a monster I'm not even sure was the first boss or not. Definitely a harken back to the dungeon crawlers of old, but tough as nails. I put about 12 - 15 hours into just to get to where I got to and was such a kick in the butt I literally side-lined the game and haven't returned to it since.

okay, I'll just pick up a copy cuz I'm about to take a long trip abroad soon.

Also, how many vita owners are going to buy Playstation VR? I just have an old ps4 and not planning on buying a Pro.

Is it worth picking it up now? I have thought about playing with it just to try it for a few weeks and then selling it.
I am getting the PSVR. And I have a Pro preordered. I was this close to cancelling both last night. Then Wario64 posted the Eve Valkyrie pre-order and I am back in.

I have not played any of the drpg's on vita yet but I have played several Etrian Odyssey games. I think/heard it is the standard for drpg's games, or at least on handheld systems. It can be brutal, but that can be solved by doing some internet searches on how to build your team. In the early going you usually want to grind a bit. Give it another shot if you are really into drpgs.

I've got a PS4 Pro pre-ordered, but I'll be waiting for the bargain bin on PSVR. The history of console attachments does not portend explosive growth for the PSVR.

And the history for eyewear-type accessories is absolutely abysmal. Did Sony learn nothing from the Sega Master System's 3D glasses? Or the pitiful sales of the Oculus Rift for that matter?

I hear from Asian forums that Sony is starting to put 3.61 requirement on retail games.

Anyone know what the dlc code that comes with Airship Q is for? It doesn't redeem on US PSN account.

So, Sony is bbasically saying to pirates, "give up on your homebrew and piracy, or we won't let you legally buy and play any more games?"

I didn't major in business or anything, but I don't see that going the way they intended.

That's how Nintendo and Microsoft done it. This isn't anything new

I'm all for the system staying fully locked from piracy until we stop getting new games.  The Vita has been on a bad enough downward spiral without piracy speeding up the process.  We don't need publishers to just give up on physical games because too many previously legit gamers decided to stop buying stuff because it was easier to just pirate them and save the cash.

That's actually the key, right there.

This isn't about "stopping pirates" it's about stopping the casual person who heard a bunch of people talking about Henkaku on a Vita forum and went "Hey, I should check that thing out."

Exactly.

And it gives me hope that Sony hasn't completely abandoned the vita.

I just unlocked it so I could be sure I would have it unlocked by then. Not like I need to pirate anything on Vita, cause I have everything I want already.

Ah, keep forgetting to say, but asked LRG's Douglas during one of their live streams earlier this week for confirmation regarding PS Vita game releases from them next month and he said they are going to announce a Vita game which they plan to release for the Vita in October, but probably not going to say what the game is until after the next to go on sale the 30th of this month.

NES, DS, 3DS, PS, PS2, Xbox didn't die from piracy but instead the device and games had been going strong during their time.

It's about device itself, good games and support from maker to keep the console going and games coming.

Sony has always been struggling with the portable devices because how they treat them.

I think Sony has never seen that much demand for the Vita so far in its life.

What's the benefit of unlocking and how do you do it.
I mean, what's the benefit of hacking a gaming system in general? You don't have to go too far with your imagination on that one. ;P

Also, the specifics and details of "how" is not an acceptable discussion for this thread.

Just Google it if you're really that interested. Just type in "vita hack", and a bunch of things will pop up on the how to and what not.

As soon as you unlock your Vita, it will automatically display unlimited porn for your pleasure. To unlock it, just use this special code: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start.

I had to first submerge mine in a bucket of water for an hour. I heard that gets you the best

Guys my vita won't turn on, I think the water may have harmed it. I was asking about unlocking not in the hacking sense, but about region locks and in the case of 3G models.

Pretty sure that's only active if you update it with the Wave (TM) technology that they stole from Apple. You can charge it in the microwave as well after the update! My workplace doesn't have an outlet but a sole microwave. Coworkers get pissed when I use it 2 hours a time during lunch though.

Gotta say Ray Gigant is kinda growing on me. The story is getting interesting through some mildly predictable twists and turns, and although easy at first, now the big bosses are requiring some strategies and minor grinding. The visuals continue to dazzle with new locations and color pallets.

So far of all the DRPG-like games I have played on Vita, this is definitely a good experience (on the levels of Moe Chronicles/Demon Gaze but not to the levels of DT2/CG, and of course nowhere near the holy grail that is P4G). Let me see, bad experiences personally have been Sorcery Saga. I deliberately avoided Mind Zero or else I suspect it would have been added to my black list.

Damn, Sorcery Sage was sooooooo CUTE, but it was just oo frustrating. As for Mind=0, you probably made a good choice skipping it. I loved the game, but everyone else that ever played it thought it was shit. I still get weird looks around here for liking Mind=0.

Yeah, but if it becomes $2 in a PSN sale I will still buy it though...

Now since you say you liked it, I will increase the threshold to $3.

Don't feel bad, I like E.T. for the Atari 2600. And really Sorcery Saga isn't a bad game, I even gifted it to my 20 year old nephew at Christmas last year... the "Hot and Spicy, Everything Nicey Limited Edition" at that.

The English version is on the cart, but there is no option in any of the menues to play it in English. Proof Bandai Namco hates their English language speaking fans.

Namco Asia localized Gundam Breaker 3, Super Robot Taisen OG, and will localized Gundam G Generation and Super Robot Taisen V. Even not releasing Digimon they still showed more support than most publishers.

That's true, but you've got to wonder what is going on with Bandai Namco's North American and European divisions when they have at their disposal Enlglish language versions of some of these games and they choose to ignore their regional fanbase request. Even Bandai Namco's European division has released more games physically on the Vita than the North American division has.

I'm still confused as to these decisions. The English Vita install base must be much higher than the Chinese install base, by several orders of magnitude (speculation based on the Asian Vita forums I frequent).

So aside from translation difficulties of Japanese-English vs. Japanese-Chinese, publishing in NA/EU (digitally or physically) must require much more effort as opposed to publishing in Hong Kong (some industry experts can enlighten us)? I think publishing in Hong Kong requires no local publishing branches therefore is a near-zero cost localization?

Bamco might say the translation is not up to par to their standards, despite the poor localizations of Hollow Fragment and Cyber Sleuth

Good theories, that might be a factor. Although quite a bit of people in Hong
Kong do read/speak decent English, idk why not at least keep the option. Also, in terms of physical copies, I think the stores in HK are smaller/personal based, and less of superstores, maybe there's a factor there as well?

Here's the issue going on. Sony use to be able to operate and do releases to all of Southeast Asia from Hong Kong and if it were an English-Only release then it was no big deal because for over a century English was the official language in Hong Kong. But just a few year ago the Chinese government implemented effectively their final stage in the absorption of Hong Kong and English is no longer taught in the schools as the native language. Chinese has been re-implemented as the official language and the newest generation of kids in school in Hong Kong are being forced to learn Chinese even if that's not the language spoken in their home.

The folks at Sony were not stupid to say the least and anyone in the freeworld with a half a brain could see that this was going to eventually happen since the British foolishly gave Hong Kong back to the Chi-Coms in the mid-90's, only real surprise was that it took the communists as long as it did to implement the tossing out of English language usage.

Sony's plan all along has been for China to eventually be its' own region code, and with the forced slow death of the usage of the English language within Chinese borders this just works to ensure that will happen. Many of the other Southeast Asian nations either have English as the official or as a recognized secondary language. The divide as things are presently going will eventually bundle up all of the nations where English language releases are possible as being a new region code for PlayStation products overseen by Sony's Southeast Asian Branch in Singapore, Chinese language releases overseen by their Hong Kong branch, Korean language releases overseen by the Korea Branch, and Japanese language releases handled by their Headquarters in Japan. We've already gotten a sense that this is how it will be due to the locations of where Sony has held press conferences these last two months when showing off the PS VR and new models of the PS4.

No offense Tweeg, but I fail to see how polictics play into Sony's localization strategies. Aside from Asian English, all I'm speculating is the Chinese revenue is very small from what I can tell, so the localization cost must be negligble for the whole operation to make sense. And refusing to release in NA must mean despite a sizable audience, the localization, in terms of perhaps publishing, distribution, rights exporting is simply much higher compared ro releasing in Hong Kong.

I do have a lot of strong opinions about the opinions westerners have against Asian countries, but not gonna open that can of worms on the gaming forum. Just gonna drop the fact that English education is a top priority for all Chinese education institutions and parents. English is, and always has been the official secondary language. Two decades ago mandatory English classes started at third grade, now I believe it starts at first grade with revamped textbooks every year, now incorporating many U.S. culture references. Most parents start enrolling their kids in bilingual preschools before elementary, the wealthier families opt for preschools with foreign teachers. Also, "Native English Mode" is the biggest selling point for children's toys for one-three year olds. To say that English is dying (or forced out) within their borders is absolute bull cause the situation there is the complete opposite, again, no offense Tweeg, you know that.

Lots of countries learn English as a second or n language. The "errors" you see come from the inability of people to use the language in normal conversation or work as often as you would see like with the Europeans.
